Sony PlayStation 5 Quick Start Guide
Getting Started
This guide will help you set up your PlayStation 5 console.
1. Connect the Base
Always attach the base to the console, whether it's in a vertical or horizontal position. Ensure the console is placed on a flat surface before attaching the base. Reconfigure the base by rotating the top and bottom parts in opposite directions until you hear a click.
For Vertical Position
Before attaching the base to the console, check that the hook is in the correct position as shown. Place the console face down, then attach the base to the designated area and press firmly. Remove the screw from the bottom of the base. Attach the base and secure it with the screw. Use a coin or similar flat object to tighten the screw.
For Horizontal Position
Before attaching the base to the console, check that the hook is in the correct position as shown. Place the console face down, then align the base with the designated area on the console and press firmly.
2. Connect the HDMI and AC Power Cables
Use the provided cables. Make all connections before plugging the AC power cable into the power outlet.

4. Turn on Your TV and Select the HDMI Setting
If the console is not used for 60 seconds after powering on, the screen reader will activate. You can listen to on-screen text and other important information read aloud, which can help you achieve what you want to do. The screen reader is only available in certain languages.

For PS4 Users
Play Some PS4 Games on Your PS5 Console
Play supported PS4 games* on your PS5 console. *Some features available on PS4 may be missing when playing on PS5. You must update to the latest system software version. Internet connection required.
Transfer Data from Your PS4 Console to Your PS5 Console
Connect your PS4 console and PS5 console to the same network to transfer data such as game save data, user information, and downloaded content. If you have a USB storage device that you used as extended storage for your PS4 console, you can continue to use it by simply connecting it to your PS5 console.
Use the Same Account You Created on Your PS4 Console
You don't need to create a new account for your PS5 console. Just sign in with your existing account, and your game history, trophies, user profile, and any exchanges you've had with friends will transfer to your PS5 console.
Parental Controls
You can manage settings for children using your PS5 console. Parental controls allow you to set restrictions on the games children can play, when and how long they play, and who they communicate with, among other things.
Each adult () and child will need their own separate account. When you create an account for a child, it automatically links to yours, creating a family. You can only set parental controls for children in your family.
For your PS5 console, you can use an existing account, such as the one you created on a PS4 console. Family and parental control settings will transfer to your PS5 console.
Creating an Account for a Child
You can create a child account and set parental controls simultaneously. Press the (PS) button to open the control center. Select your avatar, then select Switch User. From the user selection screen, select Add User to create an account.
