4. Start to Use - Programming
The system comes with pre-programmed settings for different plant types. You can adjust lighting duration and other settings via the control panel.
Control Panel Buttons:
- Power Button [Power Button]: Short press to turn the system on or off.
- Sleep Button [Sleep Button]: Short press to enter or exit sleep mode.
- Water/Pump Button [Water/Pump Button]: Press to turn the water pump on or off.
- Fan Button [Fan Button]: Short press to cycle through fan speed settings (0: Off, 1, 2, 3).
- Vegetables Button [Veg Button]: Selects "Vegetables" mode. Short press to adjust lighting duration (0-24H).
- Flowers & Fruits Button [Flower Button]: Selects "Flowers & Fruits" mode. Short press to adjust lighting duration (0-24H).
- Child Lock [Lock]: Long press the Power and Pump buttons simultaneously to lock or unlock the controls.
- Local Time Setting: Long press the Sleep button for 5 seconds to enter time setting mode.
Lighting: The system defaults to a 16-hour light and 8-hour dark cycle for vegetables. This cycle repeats and is adjustable.
5. When Seeds Germinate
5.1 Remove the Domes
Observe seeds for 7-10 days. Once germinated, remove the domes [Dome] immediately to prevent plants from becoming leggy. It is recommended to keep the stickers on during the growing process.
5.2 Add Nutrient Solution
When seeds germinate, add both Plant Food A and Plant Food B nutrient solutions to the tank. Follow the mixing instructions below.
5.3 A+B Plant Food Mixing Instructions
Prepare the nutrient solution by mixing Plant Food A and Plant Food B. Shake the bottles well.
Application Ratio:
Water Volume | Plant Food A | Plant Food B |
---|---|---|
1L | 5ml | 5ml |
2L | 10ml | 10ml |
3L | 15ml | 15ml |
4L | 20ml | 20ml |
5L | 25ml | 25ml |
6L | 30ml | 30ml |
7L | 35ml | 35ml |
Note: Keep the tank water clean during the growth period. The mixed nutrient solution has a storage life of 5 months without exposure to sunlight. Experiment to find optimal formulas for specific plant stages.
6. When Plants Grow Tall (Adjust the Light Tray Height)
As plants grow, raise the light tray [Light Tray]. The light tray extends up to 23.8 inches above the grow tray. Maintain a distance of about 4-6 inches between the plant tops and the grow light. Adjust the height based on the plants' actual growing stage to prevent legginess or light burn.
Planting Tips
Germination
Temperature, water, and humidity are critical factors for seed germination. Humidity is particularly important during the seedling period.
Pruning/Harvesting
Prune the leaves and branches:
- Prune to maintain a compact and healthy garden.
- Remove leaves or branches that obstruct light for other plants.
- Trim spreading leaves.
- Remove any dead or yellowing leaves/branches.
Prune the roots:
- Lightly prune roots when they mature.
- Trim any rotten roots.
Advantages of Pruning:
- Maintains plant health and shape.
- Stimulates new branches and growth.
- Encourages larger harvests.
Tips: When harvesting, leave some leaves on the plant to encourage regrowth.
Precautions for Planting
- The pump may produce an abnormal sound initially due to air in the system; this should resolve within 3-5 minutes of continuous operation.
- Always keep the water in the tank clean. Impurities can affect pump operation. Clean the pump filter if noise or stoppage occurs.
- Plants are seasonal and regional. Choose plants suitable for your location and the current season for optimal results.
- Promptly remove any dead or poorly growing plants to prevent them from affecting the growth of others and to avoid root erosion and bacterial breeding.
- Do not assemble the product while it is plugged in.
- Keep the light tray safe from water.
- Do not disassemble or modify the product without authorization.
- Periodically check the water in the tank, keep it clean, and change it when necessary.
- Refill the tank through the designated fill hole.
- When emptying the water tank for cleaning or water changes, use the drain hole.
Sunlight Bionic Light Tray
The Growell system features a Sunlight Bionic Light Tray designed to optimize plant growth:
- RED Light: Promotes photosynthesis, germination, flowering, and fruiting. It stimulates the formation of chloroplasts.
- BLUE Light: Has a strong inhibitory effect on stem elongation, beneficial for leaf growth and plays a role in phototropism.
- FAR RED LIGHT: Exposure to far-red light can signal plants to stretch, mimicking being shaded by taller plants, encouraging them to grow taller.
Adjust and soften the light height as needed for optimal plant development.
Add and Dump Water
Add Water: Refill the tank through the fill hole [Fill Hole]. Ensure the water level is maintained as per recommendations.
Dump Water: Use the drain hole [Drain Hole] at the bottom of the tank for cleaning or when changing the water.
Q&A
Q: The buttons on the control panel do not work or respond?
A: Check if the child lock [Lock] is activated (indicated by an icon on the screen). Press and hold the Power [Power Button] and Pump [Water/Pump Button] buttons simultaneously to unlock. If the problem persists, please contact Growell customer support.
Q: Will the fan work when the lights are off?
A: Yes, the fan operates independently. You can turn it on/off and adjust its speed using the fan button [Fan Button].
Q: How does the fan help in plant growth?
A: The fan promotes air circulation, strengthens plant stems, and aids in pollination. It also helps regulate temperature and humidity, creating a more robust growing environment.
Q: Does the system support 12-hour format for time?
A: Yes, the system supports both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats. You can select your preferred option during setup.
Q: The lights do not turn on automatically?
A: After plugging in, the system defaults to vegetable mode with a 16-hour light cycle. Ensure the lighting duration is set correctly for your chosen mode. The cycle repeats automatically.
