Home Theater Controller Model C-1024A

The C-1024A makes it possible for multiple sound and video components to respond to the commands issued by a single Pronto or Harmony 880 learning remote control. Small enough to be easily hidden, the C-1024A is designed for placement behind the TV in the home theater room. Only the small IR sensor remains visible near the front of the TV where it receives the remote control commands. The C-1024A communicates with the Bose music center (LIFESTYLE 20, 25 and 30) or the MRI (LIFESTYLE 40 and 50).

Setting up the C-1024A IR Codes

Before you begin the installation, you must acquire the IR codes for your remote control. You can download the commands file directly from the Pronto website.

Installation

The C-1024A communicates with the Bose music center or the MRI and also receives IR signals. Therefore, placement must be carefully considered. Keep in mind:

  • The C-1024A and music center must be within 5 feet (1.5 m) of one another.
  • The IR sensor should be mounted on the TV or other convenient place.

Carton Contents

  • Model C-1024A
  • Serial data cable
  • IR sensor
  • Power pack

Connecting the cables to the C-1024A

1. Connecting the music center cable:

  • Insert one end into the jack marked TTL on the front of the C-1024A (refer to connection diagram).
  • Insert the other end of that cable into the SERIAL DATA jack on the back of the LIFESTYLE Music Center or Multi-Room Interface (MRI).

2. Set Feature Switch #1 for the type of system:

  • For use with a LIFESTYLE 20, 25 and 30, set switch #1 to the up position.
  • For use with a LIFESTYLE 40/50 (MRI), set switch #1 to the down position.

3. Connecting the IR sensor:

  • Insert the connector into the IR SENSE jack on the front of the C-1024A.
  • Decide where to place the IR sensor on or near the TV. Remove the protective strip from its adhesive surface and affix the sensor to a flat, clean, and dry surface. The sensor carries IR signals issued by the remote control to the C-1024A, which can be hidden from view, behind the TV. (Instructions continue on reverse side.)

Diagram Description

The diagram illustrates the physical connections for the C-1024A. It shows a TV unit with an IR sensor attached near its front. The C-1024A Home Theater Controller is depicted as a central unit. A serial data cable (TTL) connects the back of a Music Center or MRI to the C-1024A. The IR sensor connects to the C-1024A, and a power pack also connects to the C-1024A. An IR Learning Remote Control is shown emitting signals towards the IR sensor. Numbered connection points (1, 2, 3, 4) are indicated on the diagram, corresponding to the serial data cable, the controller unit, the IR sensor connection, and the power pack connection, respectively.

Connecting the Power Pack

4. Connect the power pack:

  • Insert the small connector end into the POWER jack on the back of the C-1024A.
  • Plug the power pack end into a nearby wall outlet. The power light should come on (the upper of the two LEDs on the rear of the C-1024A) when the C-1024A receives power.
