VEVOR HCT-378 Water Timer User Manual

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the VEVOR HCT-378 Water Timer, covering installation, operation, features, and troubleshooting. It is designed for efficient garden watering management.

Installing the Timer to Water Tap

Before Installation: Ensure the water inlet is equipped with a filter to prevent impurities from blocking the valve. Clean or replace the filter periodically. The timer requires tap water pressure or a pressurized water source to operate.

Installation Steps:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover and insert 2 new 1.5 V 'AA' alkaline batteries, observing the +/- polarity marks.
  2. Attach the water timer (with built-in filter) to an outdoor water tap.
  3. Use an O-ring, adapter, or PTFE tape as needed to prevent water leakage.
  4. Connect water pipes to the zone outlets using quick connectors if necessary.

Important Notes:

  • Intended for outdoor use only.
  • Hand-tighten connections; do not use tools on the timer.
  • Do not use water with temperatures below 3°C or above 45°C.

The water timer consists of the following parts:

  • Water Inlet with 3/4" internal thread
  • LCD Display
  • Control Buttons
  • Battery Compartment Cover
  • Zone Outlets with 3/4" external thread

LCD Display Indicators

The LCD display shows various indicators:

  • 1. Current Time: Displays the current time in 24-hour format.
  • 2. Battery Power: Indicates the battery power level [?].
  • 3. Delay Mode: Indicates that the Delay mode is active [].
  • 4. Watering: Indicates that the timer is currently watering [?].
  • 5. Child Lock Mode: Indicates that the Child Lock mode is active [?].
  • 6. Selected Zone: Indicates the currently selected zone area (A, B, or C).
  • 7. First Watering Time: Shows the first watering time for each program.
  • 8. Run Time: Allows setting run time from 1-59 seconds or 1-360 minutes.
  • 9. Interval Period: Allows setting the interval between watering from 1-23 hours or 1-15 days.
  • 10. Automatic Reminder: Shows time remaining until the next watering starts.

Note: Please replace batteries in time. If the battery is too weak to open the valve, the timer cannot water.

Control Buttons

The timer has the following control buttons:

  • 1. [Set Time Button]: Allows setting the current time.
  • 2. [Zone Select Button]: Selects Zone A, B, or C for program setup.
  • 3. [Return/Cancel Button]: Returns to the main screen. Hold for 3 seconds to discontinue programs.
  • 4. [Manual Water Button]: Activates a one-time watering for a single zone.
  • 5. [- Button]: Decreases the selected flashing item on the display.
  • 6. [+] Button: Increases the selected flashing item on the display. Hold for 3 seconds to postpone watering for an interval period.
  • 7. [Enter/Confirm Button]: Enters program setup or confirms set options.
  • 8. [Function Button]: Activates Child Lock mode (hold [+] and [-] buttons together for 3 seconds).

Programming the Water Timer

Set Current Time

  1. Press the [Set Time Button].
  2. The current hour will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change the hour, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save and proceed to set the minute.
  3. The current minute will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change the minute, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save and automatically return to the main screen.
  4. The current time is now set.

Set Start Time, Run Time, and Interval Period

  1. Press the [Zone Select Button] and choose the target zone, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to enter the start time setting.
  2. The hour will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change it, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save and proceed to set the minute.
  3. The minute will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change it, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save and proceed to the run time setting.
  4. The run time number will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change it from 1-59 seconds or 1-360 minutes, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save and proceed to the interval period setting.
  5. The interval period number will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change it from 1-23 hours or 1-15 days, then press the [Enter/Confirm Button] to save.
  6. Start time, run time, and interval period for the zone are now set. The "Next Start" time will update automatically in real-time.

Key Features

Manual Watering for Single Zone

This feature allows manual watering for a single zone without interrupting the set program.

  1. Press the [Zone Select Button] to select the desired zone, then press the [Manual Water Button] to enter the setting.
  2. The run time number will flash. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to change it (1-59 sec or 1-360 min), then press the [Manual Water Button] to start watering for the selected zone only.
  3. A stopwatch will start, and the [?] indicator will flash on the screen.
  4. To cancel manual watering midway, press the [Manual Water Button] again.

Delay Mode for All Zones

This feature allows postponing watering for all zones for a set interval without interrupting the preset program.

  1. Press any button to light up the screen.
  2. Hold the [Delay Button] (Button 6) for 3 seconds. The [] indicator will flash on the screen, and the next start time will be updated.
  3. To cancel Delay mode midway, hold the [Delay Button] (Button 6) for 3 seconds again.

Child Lock Mode for All Zones

This feature prevents accidental operation and protects the timer from children's interference.

  1. Press any button to light up the screen.
  2. Hold the [+] and [-] buttons together for 3 seconds. The [?] indicator will show on the screen.
  3. To cancel Child Lock mode, hold the [+] and [-] buttons together for 3 seconds again.

OFF Mode for Single Zone

This feature allows users to temporarily disable the watering program for a selected zone. The program is saved and will resume after OFF mode is removed.

  1. Press the [Zone Select Button] to select the desired zone.
  2. Hold the [Return/Cancel Button] (Button 3) for 3 seconds. The "OFF" indicator will show on the screen for the selected zone.
  3. To remove OFF mode, hold the [Return/Cancel Button] (Button 3) for 3 seconds again.

Low Power OFF Mode

The water timer automatically enters Low Power OFF mode when the battery power is low. The [] indicator will flash, and the timer will not be able to water. Replace batteries promptly and reset programs.

View / Choose Watering Zones

To save battery power, the LCD display turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity. Press any button to wake the display.

  1. Press the [Zone Select Button] repeatedly to cycle through Zone A, Zone B, and Zone C displays.
  2. The following diagrams illustrate the factory preset programs for each zone:
    • Zone A program
    • Zone B program
    • Zone C program

Tips: To ensure normal water output for each zone, do not open 2-3 zones simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

No display when batteries are installed: Check battery power. Ensure new batteries are inserted correctly according to +/- marks.

Display reads "Er00", "Er01", "Er02": Circuit is in an abnormal state. Reinstall the batteries.

Water does not come out at the preset time:

  • A program might be currently setting up for the zone.
  • Delay mode or OFF mode is active. Clear these modes if necessary.
  • Low Power OFF mode is active. Replace the batteries.
  • The faucet is turned off. Turn it on.

Water inlet/outlet leaks:

  • The filter may not be properly seated at the tap connection. Reinstall it correctly.
  • The water inlet/outlet or water pipe may be damaged. Check for damage.
  • The water tap or pipe may have a different thread size than the timer. Use an appropriate adapter, O-ring, quick connector, or PTFE tape if needed.
