Construction Overview
Diagram shows the Z74S-AN actuator with a bayonet connection. Key features indicated include the manual override knob and the connection points. The device is labeled with model number, voltage, cycle time, IP rating, and CE mark.
Method of Operation
After the set time has expired, the Z74S-AN opens the ball valve. In the filter, a differential pressure is generated by this opening procedure, which in turn starts the reverse rinsing mechanism. At the end of the reverse rinsing interval, the ball valve closes again. An additional safety function prevents the ball valve from being opened if the battery voltage is too low. This ensures that unwanted loss of water is avoided. The end of the battery service life is indicated by the flashing of the LEDs.

Installation Guidelines
Setup requirements
- The installation site has to be frost-proof and the protection of the device from chemicals, paints, detergents, solvents and their vapours and environmental influences must be guaranteed.
- In case the mains supply fails during the backwash the batteries (if they are fitted) provide the energy for closing the backwash ball valve. The battery charge should be checked regularly. At the latest after two years exchange the batteries with new ones.
- In order to avoid flooding, it is recommended to arrange a permanent, professionally dimensioned wastewater connection.
Transportation and Storage
Keep parts in their original packaging and unpack them shortly before use.
The following parameters apply during transportation and storage:
Parameter | Value |
Environment: | clean, dry and dust free |
Min. ambient temperature: | 0 °C |
Max. ambient temperature: | 40 °C |
Min. ambient relative humidity: | 5%* |
Max. ambient relative humidity: | 80% * |
*non condensing
