1. Getting Started

This section covers the initial setup of your Cubot X1.

1.1. What's in the Box

1.2. Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the physical layout of your Cubot X1:

  • Front: Earpiece, Front Camera, Display Screen.
  • Back: Rear Camera, Flash, Speaker.
  • Top: Microphone.
  • Bottom: USB Type-C Port, Main Microphone.
  • Left Side: SIM Card Tray.
  • Right Side: Power Button [power button], Volume Up/Down Buttons.

Press and hold the Power Button to turn the device on or off. A short press locks or unlocks the screen.

1.3. Inserting SIM and microSD Cards

Your Cubot X1 supports dual SIM cards or one SIM card and one microSD card.

  1. Locate the SIM tray on the left side of the device.
  2. Insert the SIM ejector tool into the small hole next to the tray to pop it out.
  3. Place your Nano-SIM card(s) and/or microSD card into the tray in the correct orientation. Refer to the tray diagram for placement. [SIM tray diagram description: The tray has designated slots for two Nano-SIM cards and one microSD card, or one Nano-SIM and one microSD card.]
  4. Carefully slide the tray back into the phone until it clicks into place.

1.4. Charging the Battery

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the port on the bottom of the phone.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the power adapter.
  3. Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.

The battery icon ? on the screen will indicate the charging status. A full charge typically takes a few hours.

2. Basic Operations

2.1. Powering On and Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power Button until the Cubot logo appears.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power Button, then tap 'Power off' on the screen.
  • To Restart: Press and hold the Power Button, then tap 'Restart' on the screen.
  • To Lock/Unlock Screen: Briefly press the Power Button.

2.2. Touchscreen Gestures

  • Tap: Touch an item once to select it or open an app.
  • Tap and Hold: Touch and hold an item to see available options (e.g., moving icons).
  • Swipe: Drag your finger across the screen (up, down, left, right) to scroll or change screens.
  • Drag: Tap and hold an item, then move your finger without lifting it to reposition the item.
  • Pinch/Spread: Touch the screen with two fingers and move them closer together (pinch) or farther apart (spread) to zoom in or out on photos, maps, or web pages.

2.3. Navigating the Interface

The Cubot X1 features a standard Android interface.

  • Home Screen: Displays app icons, widgets, and shortcuts. Swipe left or right to access additional home screen panels.
  • Status Bar: Located at the top of the screen, it shows icons for notifications, battery level ?, signal strength ?, Wi-Fi ?, etc.
  • Notification Panel: Swipe down from the top of the screen to view notifications and quick settings.
  • App Drawer: Swipe up from the bottom of the home screen to access all installed applications.

3. Calls and Contacts

Manage your communications effectively.

3.1. Making and Receiving Calls

Tap the 'Phone' icon ? to access the dialer. Enter a number and tap the call button ▶️, or select a contact from your list.

To answer an incoming call, swipe the answer icon ▶️. To reject, swipe the reject icon ❌.

3.2. Managing Contacts

Tap the 'Contacts' icon ?. You can add new contacts, edit existing ones, or delete contacts.

  • Add Contact: Tap the '+' icon.
  • Edit Contact: Tap on a contact, then tap the 'Edit' icon ✏️.
  • Delete Contact: Tap on a contact, then tap the 'More options' menu (three dots ⋮) and select 'Delete'.

4. Messaging

Stay connected with friends and family.

Tap the 'Messages' icon ? to send and receive SMS and MMS messages. You can compose new messages, reply to existing ones, and attach media files.

5. Camera

Capture your memories with the Cubot X1 camera.

Tap the 'Camera' icon ? to open the camera application.

  • Switch Cameras: Tap the icon to switch between the rear and front cameras.
  • Modes: Select different shooting modes like Photo, Video, Portrait, etc.
  • Settings: Access camera settings via the gear icon ⚙️ to adjust resolution, timer, grid lines, and more.
  • Taking a Photo: Frame your shot and tap the shutter button ?.
  • Recording Video: Switch to Video mode and tap the record button ▶️. Tap again to stop recording.

6.1. Pre-installed Apps

Your phone comes with essential apps like Browser, Calendar, Clock, Calculator, File Manager, and more. Access them from the App Drawer.

  • Wi-Fi: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. Toggle Wi-Fi on and select a network to connect.
  • Bluetooth: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth. Toggle Bluetooth on to pair with other Bluetooth devices (e.g., headphones, speakers).
  • Mobile Data: Ensure your SIM card is active and mobile data is enabled in Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network.
