Note: To ensure satisfactory system performance, use proper digital audio cables that meet required specifications when connecting the iDAP-6 to digital audio equipment.

Important Note:

  • a. Select "I²S" from "Output Selection" in "Music Setting" before using the I²S (HDMI) output.
  • b. Select "S/P" from "Output Selection" in "Music Setting" before using the optical, coaxial (RCA and BNC), and AES/EBU outputs.
  • c. USB and S/PDIF outputs are mutually exclusive; connecting a USB Audio device will automatically disable S/PDIF and I²S outputs.
  • 9. Power input connector: Connect to AC power supply. Ensure your local power supply voltage matches the information printed on the back panel before powering up.
  • 10. FUSE: If a fuse needs replacement, use one with the same specification as the original. The player is equipped with 2 spare fuses.
  • 11. Main Power Supply: Switch to the "On" position to turn on the player.

Tips: If the player will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to turn off the main power supply.

Preparation

Please ensure the AC voltage of your local power supply matches the voltage information printed on the back panel before plugging in the power cord and connecting to an AC power outlet. Ensure all equipment is connected correctly.

The system connection diagram illustrates how the iDAP-6 connects with the iDAC-6. You can select the required connection according to your needs.

(1) Connecting Digital Audio Cable

  • For RCA output, use a 75Ω coaxial digital cable to connect to a coaxial RCA or BNC input of the DAC.
  • For BNC output, use a 75Ω coaxial digital cable to connect to a coaxial RCA or BNC input of the DAC.
  • For AES/EBU output, use a 110Ω coaxial digital cable to connect to an AES/EBU input of the DAC.
  • For Optical output, use an optical digital cable to connect to an Optical/Toslink input of the DAC.
  • For I²S (HDMI) output, use a short (1 meter or less) high-quality HDMI cable to connect to the I²S input of the DAC.

(2) Connecting Ethernet Network

When connected to an Ethernet network, the iDAP-6 can play music files shared within a LAN or receive pushed music from DLNA or Airplay. Connect an Ethernet cable from the RJ-45 port on the rear panel to a LAN port on your router. Networked music files stored on a NAS or other devices should also be connected to the same router.

(3) Connecting Wireless Network

When connected to a WiFi network, the iDAP-6 can play music files shared within a LAN or receive pushed music from DLNA or Airplay. Enable the WiFi feature in the Network Setting menu, activate Searching WiFi, and select the strongest WiFi signal from your router.

Basic Operation

Please ensure the AC voltage of your local power supply matches the voltage information printed on the back panel and that all equipment is connected correctly.

1. Startup Operation

  • Turn on the power switch on the rear panel; the player will power up and enter standby mode.
  • Hold the front panel power button; its indicator light will turn on, and the screen will display the startup logo.

2. Main Menu

The player enters the main menu after startup, displaying five functional icons. Rotate the MENU button to select the desired icon and push the MENU button once to enter. The player will then display the available options for that menu.

The main menu sections include:

  • Network Music: Browse or play folders or music files shared in the LAN.
  • Update Music Library: Scan music files from SD card and USB storage, and synchronize metadata to facilitate Music Category functions.

Local music is stored on SD cards or USB storages attached directly to the iDAP-6. Highlight the Local Storage icon, push the MENU button to enter the storage device list, browse folders, select a music file, and push MENU to play. The screen will then jump to the "Playing Now" interface.

Network Music contains files stored on a NAS or shared folders on computers in the LAN. Highlight the Network Music icon, push MENU to enter the submenu, select "Local Area Network Music", and push MENU to start searching for NAS and shared folders on the network.

To update the music library, highlight the update music library icon, push MENU to enter the Music Update submenu, and push MENU again to start the update process.

Music Category

The system scans and records metadata of music files during library updates. The Music Category function creates lists based on "Songs", "Album", "Genre", and "Artist". It also provides features like "Favorite", "Recent", and "Playlist" for browsing and selecting songs.

CategoryDescription
SongsDisplay all songs in storage device.
FavoriteDisplay the song list marked as "Favorite".
RecentDisplay recently played music files.

Playing Now

If the iDAP-6 is playing or paused, the "Playing Now" interface is displayed. If it is not playing, the music category interface is shown.

Several control icons are located at the bottom of the "Playing Now" interface. Use the MENU button to select an icon (indicated by a red highlight) and push it once to confirm the action. Holding the MENU button for 2 seconds will stop playback and return to the Main Menu.

  • The control icons, from left to right, are: [Previous], [Play/Pause], [Next], [Shortcut], [My Favorite], [Playlist], and Progress Bar.
  • Selecting the [Shortcut] menu icon provides options: Playback Mode, Add Playlist, and Delete current file.
  • Highlighting the Progress Bar allows fast forward (clockwise rotation) or rewind (anti-clockwise rotation) using the MENU button.
  • Selecting a Playback mode in the Shortcut menu allows cycling through four modes: [Repeat All], [Repeat Once], [Play in Order], [Shuffle].

(4) Music Setting

This interface allows you to set playback parameters and turn functions on/off.

SettingDescription
Playback ModeFour modes: Play in Order, Shuffle, Repeat Once, Repeat All.
Output selectionSelect between S/PDIF or I²S output.
DSD Output ModeSelect between DoP or D2P output.

GaplessWhen enabled, the player skips gaps between media files and plays them seamlessly.
LyricsWhen enabled, displays lyrics alongside music playback (requires associated lyric file).
Album ArtWhen enabled, displays album art on the "Playing Now" menu (requires associated graphic file).

Album art files can be in JPEG, PNG, or BMP format (in order of priority) with a resolution not exceeding 2000x2000. The iDAP-6 recognizes album art via the following priorities:

  1. Embed album cover into the music file's metadata.
  2. Rename the album art file to the same name as the music file and store them in the same folder.
  3. Rename the album art file as front.xxx, cover.xxx, or folder.xxx (case-insensitive) and place it in the same folder as the music files.
