Always play in a well-lit environment. Take regular breaks; 15 minutes per hour. Stop playing if you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue, or headaches. Some individuals sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns may have undiagnosed epilepsy and could experience an epileptic seizure while watching television or playing video games. Consult a doctor before playing video games if you have epilepsy and immediately consult a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms while playing: visual disturbances, muscle twitching or other uncontrolled movements, loss of consciousness, confusion, and/or convulsions.
Some people may experience discomfort (such as painful or tired eyes or nausea) when viewing 3D movie footage or playing stereoscopic 3D games on 3D televisions. If you experience such discomfort, immediately stop using your television until the symptoms disappear. In general, it is recommended to avoid prolonged use of your PS4™ system and to take a fifteen-minute break every hour of play. However, when playing stereoscopic 3D games or viewing 3D movie footage, the duration and frequency of breaks may vary per person. Ensure you take long enough breaks for any discomfort to subside. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist. The eyesight of young children (especially children under six years old) is still developing. It is recommended to consult your child's doctor or optometrist before allowing young children to view 3D movie footage or play stereoscopic 3D games. Adults should supervise young children to ensure they follow the above recommendations.
Some people may experience motion sickness, nausea, disorientation, blurred vision, or other discomfort when viewing virtual reality content. If these symptoms occur, stop immediately and remove the VR headset.

In the years following World War II, the global economy was in ruins. Life was not easy for most people, but Los Angeles managed to escape. The city flourished, and Hollywood became the ultimate example of the American Dream for the rest of the world. But beneath the glitter and glamour lurked a dark reality: an explosive growth in drug trafficking, a film industry shamelessly exploiting young girls, and boundless corruption at all levels of the police and government. In addition, thousands of soldiers returned home, desperately trying to leave the madness of war behind and build a normal life.
Lieutenant Cole Phelps is one of these men. During the war, he served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific. After his honorable discharge, he was awarded one of the highest naval decorations: the Silver Star. Cole also wanted to continue serving his country at home and joined the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.). At that time, the police force had a bad reputation and was accused of corruption and violent behavior. A young, decorated war hero was exactly what they needed to win public opinion. In the shadows, powerful figures watch everything...

The screen displays various elements to assist you during gameplay:
Occasionally, help messages appear with mission objectives and useful tips. (Depiction: A message box on screen with "Vibration and a chime indicates objects nearby can be examined.")
The minimap shows your current position and street names nearby. Other important symbols on the minimap include:
This section displays new destinations, clues, important persons, interesting and known locations, and investigation objectives. (Depiction: A pop-up showing "AP.O.I. UPDATED June Ballard", "AP.O.I. UPDATED Jessica Hamilton", "NEW POI Suspect".)
When you are wounded, the game's color fades and the screen slowly turns black and white. The more color disappears, the closer you are to death. When your health improves, colors return. (Depiction: A scene with muted colors, indicating low health.)
The rank indicator shows your current XP (experience points) and your current rank in the police force. (Depiction: A small icon with "RANK UPDATED +20 Experience".)
Important information is automatically saved in your notebook. For example, you will see new investigation objectives, important persons, and new clues and locations.
When you encounter important persons, all their data and characteristics are saved in your notebook. You can review this information later in the investigation. (Depiction: A notebook page showing "PERSON OF INTEREST" with details for "Frank Morgan" and "Adrian Black".)
Evidence and clues you uncover during your investigation are automatically saved in your notebook. (Depiction: A receipt from "INSTAHEAT" with details like "Adrian Black" and itemized costs.)
If criminal activities occur in the city, the locations are tracked in your notebook. You can also request directions (waypoints) for those locations. (Depiction: A building labeled "VANAGH'S".)
You must investigate all cases assigned to you. You will not receive a new case until you have solved your current one. All information important to an investigation is automatically saved in your notebook. You can always review the information. Press the touchpad button to open your notebook. Make sure to regularly consult your notebook and pay attention to all details.
In every case, you work with a partner. When your partner is nearby, you can ask for help by pressing the Square button. If you want your partner to drive, hold the Square button when you are near your car.
As an L.A.P.D. police officer, you may requisition any vehicle you encounter. Simply walk up to a vehicle and press the Triangle button to tell the driver you need the vehicle. Of course, only L.A.P.D. police cars have sirens and radio contact with the police station.
Note: If you want to replay a completed case, select CASES in the main menu.
Your notebook automatically opens during an interrogation, and you can immediately select your first question. You can determine the order of your questions yourself. Use the left joystick to scroll through the list of questions and press the X button to ask the question. Not only the answer is important. Pay close attention to the facial expressions of the person you are interrogating. Even the most seasoned liars cannot always keep a straight face. Press the Circle button if you want to retract your accusation and ask another question. You can also ask the same question again.
Once your question is answered, you must decide how to proceed. If you think you hear the truth, press the Triangle button to elicit more information. Press the Circle button if you are doubtful and want to hear more information. If you receive an answer that contradicts the evidence found, you can press the Square button to accuse the person of lying. You must then substantiate that accusation by selecting a piece of evidence from your notebook. To determine the next step in your interrogation, you may sometimes need to consult your notebook. Press the touchpad button to open your notebook.
You will hear a three-tone sound when a correct answer is given. Some questions are more important than others. You do not need to know the correct answer to every question to get all the required information.
If your interrogation seems to lead nowhere, you can use the "Community Answers" option to view the most chosen answers to determine the further course. For this, you must be logged into PlayStation®Network and have an intuition point. See "Promote Yourself" for more information on intuition rewards.
Tips for Recognizing Lies:
Tip: Use the right stick to look at people.
As you perform well in the game, you will continuously earn more experience points (XP). You can earn XP in various ways: select the correct answers during interrogations, tackle street crimes, or find hidden items and locations. As you earn XP, you will receive intuition points. These points can be used during an interrogation or when investigating a crime scene. You can only use an intuition point once. If you need more intuition points, you must earn more XP first. You can store a maximum of five intuition points at a time.
With this reward, you can exclude one of the wrong answers and unusable evidence during an interrogation when accusing a suspect.
With this reward, Rockstar Games Social Club members will see which answers other L.A. Noire players chose most often during interrogations.
With this reward, all clues will be displayed on the minimap when investigating a crime scene.
