- Step 2: Pull out the slider on the Pump Base (1) until two white dots are visible.
- Step 3: Mount the Pool Pump (2) onto the Pump Base (1). Remove nuts and washers from base screws, align pump slots with screws, reattach nuts and washers, and tighten securely.
- Step 4: Align the Sand Filter Tank Base (5) with the slider on the Pump Base (1) and lower it into place.
- Step 5: Place the Sand Filter Tank (6) onto the Sand Filter Tank Base (5), ensuring the Drain Valve faces the outer curved groove.
- Step 6A: Ensure the Drain Valve Cap (9) is tightened.
- Step 6B: Ensure the Drain Valve Cap (9) is tightened and the Laterals (8b) are properly installed onto the Center Pipe Hub (7).
- Step 7: Position the Center Pipe Hub (7) in the center of the Sand Filter Tank (6) and install the Sand Shield (11). Add filter media:
- 12-inch filter: 50 lbs of sand or 1.5 lbs of Aquastrong Filter Balls.
- 14-inch filter: 70 lbs of sand or 2.5 lbs of Aquastrong Filter Balls.
- 16-inch filter: 100 lbs of sand or 4.6 lbs of Aquastrong Filter Balls.
Important: The sand shield prevents sand/cotton from entering the water pipe.
Caution: Align the sand shield with the water pipe inside the filter tank and insert carefully.
- Step 8: Remove the Sand Shield (11), connect the Center Pipe Hub (7) to the bottom of the 6-Way Valve (13), and install the 6-Way Valve (13) onto the Sand Filter Tank (6). Ensure the PUMP inlet on the 6-Way Valve (13) aligns with the outlet of the Pool Pump (2).
- Step 9: Secure the Tank Clamp (15) and tighten the hex screws. Caution: Securely tighten clamps for a stable connection.
- Step 10: Install a 1 1/2" Filter Hose Conversion Kit (17) onto the pump outlet (2) and the 6-Way Valve "PUMP" inlet (13). Connect the center pipe (16) between the pump outlet (2) and the 6-Way Valve "PUMP" inlet (13). Use Teflon tape on threaded connections.
- Step 11: Use Teflon tape to install the pressure gauge (21) and the transparent viewing window with O-ring (22).
- Step 12: Connect hoses to the pool's inlet/outlet ports using either a 1 1/4" adapter (19) with a hose clamp (20) or a 1 1/2" Filter Hose Conversion Kit (17). Use Teflon tape on threaded connections.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
Electrical Safety:
- Connect to a properly grounded outlet with GFCI/RCD. Consult an electrician if unsure.
- Avoid extension cords, timers, or adapters. Ensure a direct connection.
- Never plug in or unplug with wet hands or while standing in water.
Pressure Hazards:
- Do not exceed maximum operating pressure.

4. BACKWASH | Cleans filter media. | From pump through filter media to waste/drain outlet. |
5. RECIRCULATE | Bypasses filter media, cycling water back. | From pump through valve to pool, bypassing the filter. |
6. RINSE | Levels the sand bed after backwashing. | From pump through filter media to waste/drain outlet. |
INITIAL STARTUP AND OPERATION
Before operating:
- Ensure all hoses are connected and tightened.
- Verify the filter tank is filled with the correct sand amount.
- Confirm the system is connected to a GFCI/RCD protected outlet.
WARNING: Never operate the pump when the 6-way valve is in the CLOSED position, as this can cause hazardous pressure buildup.
STARTUP INSTRUCTIONS (Single-Speed Pump)
- Placement: Position the pump on a stable, dry surface near the pool, within reach of a 115V grounded outlet.
- Connection: Connect hoses securely between the pump and pool ports. Verify tight connections.
- Power On: Plug the pump into the outlet. It will start running and circulating water.
- Operation: Run the pump for the desired duration, supervising it at all times.
- Power Off: Unplug the pump when finished.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Place the pump away from water splashes in a dry, secure location.
- Never plug in or unplug with wet hands.
- Clean the pool filter regularly.
- Refer to the troubleshooting section or contact Aquastrong Customer Support for assistance.
PUMP MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
For optimal performance, perform regular cleaning and maintenance:
- Turn Off the Pump: Unplug the pump before maintenance.
- Drain the Pump: Unscrew the drain plug at the pump base to drain any water.
- Clean the Filter Basket: Unscrew the transparent cover, remove the filter basket, and rinse it thoroughly with clean water. Avoid abrasive tools.
- Reassemble the Pump: Replace the clean filter basket, screw the cover securely, and tighten the drain plug.
- Restart the Pump: Plug the pump back in and ensure it operates smoothly.
MAINTENANCE TIPS:
- Perform cleaning monthly or when water flow is reduced.
- Regular maintenance extends pump life and ensures consistent circulation.
POOL CARE & CHEMICALS
Regular maintenance and proper chemical treatment are essential for clean pool water. Consult your pool supplier for guidance on chemicals like chlorine and algaecides. Store chemicals safely away from children. Avoid adding chemicals while the pool is in use. Check and adjust pH levels daily. Do not swim until pH is balanced. Be cautious of chlorinated water damaging nearby plants. Adjust pump run times based on pool conditions.
CAUTION: Concentrated chlorine solutions can damage pool liners. Follow manufacturer instructions.
LONG TERM STORAGE & WINTERIZATION
Storage Instructions:
- Drain water from the pool appropriately.
- Turn off and disconnect the pump.
- Disconnect all hoses.
- Open the pump drain plug to remove remaining water.
- Clean and dry all pump components.
- Apply petroleum jelly to O-rings and gaskets.
- Store the pump and accessories in a dry, temperature-controlled location (32°F to 104°F / 0°C to 40°C).
- Avoid wrapping the motor in plastic bags to prevent condensation.
CAUTION: Freezing water can severely damage the pump and void the warranty. Use only non-toxic propylene glycol if an antifreeze solution is needed.
