Quick Start Guide

Hardware Overview

Front View

1. LCD Display: Shows status and menu options.

2. Port Selection Pushbuttons: Used to select input/output ports.

3. Function Pushbuttons: Used for navigating menus and performing actions.

Rear View

1. Power Socket: Connect the power cord here.

2. Power Switch: Turns the unit on/off.

3. Grounding Terminal: For connecting a grounding wire.

4. HDMI Output Ports: Connect display devices here (up to 4 or 8).

5. HDMI Input Ports: Connect source devices here (up to 4 or 8).

6. External IR Receiver Port: Connect the IR receiver.

7. Ethernet Port: For network connectivity and remote operation.

8. RS-232 Serial Port: For serial control.

IR Remote Control

1. Power ON/OFF: Controls the power state of the switch.

2. Output Pushbuttons (1-8): Selects output ports.

3. Input Pushbuttons (1-8): Selects input ports.

Note: The VM0404HB's IR remote control supports only input and output buttons 1-4.

Hardware Installation

  1. Connect a Cat 5e cable from the LAN to the Ethernet port for remote operation.
  2. Connect a suitable RS-232 serial cable to the computer or serial controller and the unit's RS-232 port for serial control.
  3. Ground the unit using a grounding wire connected to the grounding terminal and a suitable grounded object. (Important: Do not omit this step for surge and static protection.)
  4. Connect up to 4/8 HDMI video sources to the HDMI Input Ports.
  5. Connect up to 4/8 HDMI display devices to the HDMI Output Ports.
  6. Connect the IR Receiver into the External IR Receiver Input Port.
  7. Plug the supplied power cord into the power socket and then into an AC power source.
  8. Power on the VM0404HB/VM0808HB and all connected devices.

Operation

The VM0404HB/VM0808HB can be operated locally via the front panel LCD and pushbuttons, via the IR Remote Control, or remotely via a TCP/IP connection using a web browser or an RS-232 serial controller.

Front Panel Operation

Access device settings by typing the default password '1234' using the input pushbuttons.

Remote Operation via Web Interface

To access the web interface:

  1. Type the default IP address http://192.168.0.60 into a web browser's address bar. Accept any security alerts.
  2. Log in using the default username 'administrator' and password 'password'. (Usernames are case-sensitive and must be in lowercase.)

IR Remote Control

The IR remote control allows operation of power, input selection, and output selection.

Note: The VM0404HB's IR remote control only supports buttons 1-4 for inputs and outputs.
