Mounting Hardware
Mounting screws & washers:
- (4) 5/16" x 2" lag screws (for thinner beams)
- (4) 5/16" x 3" lag screws (for thicker beams)
- (4) 5/16" washers
Installation Steps
Step 1: Determine Location
Determine the location for the mounting platform or flex bracket. Ensure there is adequate room for the BPS6 subwoofer. The speaker opening must be located within 12 inches (305mm) of the BPS6 to allow the port tube to reach through the opening.

Step 2: Drill Mounting Holes
Place the cardboard mounting template on the side of the joist. Drill four 1/2 inch (12.7mm) holes through the joist at the locations shown on the template.

Step 3: Secure Subwoofer to Joist
Hold the side of the BPS6 with the rubber damping pad up against the side of the joist. Install the four lag screws and washers to secure the BPS6 in place.

Step 4: Attach Mounting Platform/Bracket
Attach the mounting platform or flex bracket to the joists. For detailed installation instructions, scan the QR code or visit www.sonance.com/in-wall-in-ceiling/architectural-series.

Step 5: Prepare Port Tube Tether
On the end of the BPS6 port tube, there is a tether. This tether will be used to guide the BPS6 port tube through the mounting platform opening.
[Diagram 5: Shows tether on port tube.]
Step 6: Position and Secure Port Tube
Position the end of the port tube as close as possible to the back of the mounting platform. Loop the tether into the anchored zip tie and secure it. This process ensures the bandpass connector is easily attached later and prevents other tradespersons from interfering with the port tube assembly area.

Step 7: Secure Wiring
Secure the speaker wires to the included zip tie near the terminals to prevent accidental removal by another tradesperson.
[Diagram 7: Shows wires secured with a zip tie.]
Step 8: Connect Amplifier Wires
Attach the four conductor wires from the amplifier to the input terminals on the BPS6. Connect positive wires to the red terminals and negative wires to the black terminals. Run the speaker wires to the amplifier location and perform a signal test with a 9V battery. Note: The port tube contains a foam plug with a tether; ensure pressure levels do not expel the foam and tether. Do not connect the voice coils in parallel.
