Installation Steps
Step 1: Determine Mounting Location
Diagram shows the BPS8 subwoofer, port tube, and mounting platform/flex bracket with a 12" (305mm) dimension indicating the required proximity.
Determine the location for the mounting platform or flex bracket. Ensure adequate space for the BPS8 subwoofer. The speaker opening must be within 12 inches (305mm) of the BPS8 to accommodate the port tube.
Step 2: Drill Pilot Holes
Diagram shows a mounting template placed on a joist, with six 1/2" (12.7mm) holes indicated for drilling.
Place the cardboard mounting template on the side of the joist. Drill six 1/2 inch (12.7mm) holes through the joist at the locations indicated on the template.
Step 3: Secure Subwoofer
Diagram shows the BPS8 being held against the joist and secured with lag screws and washers.
Hold the side of the BPS8, with the rubber damping pad facing the joist, against the joist. Install the six lag screws and washers to securely attach the BPS8 in place.
Step 4: Attach Mounting Platform/Flex Bracket
Diagram shows the mounting platform or flex bracket being attached to the joists.
Attach the mounting platform or flex bracket to the joists. Refer to the specific mounting platform quickstart guide or visit www.sonance.com/in-wall-in-ceiling/architectural-series for detailed installation instructions.
Step 5: Position Port Tube
Diagram shows the tether on the port tube being looped into a zip tie on the mounting platform/flex bracket.
On the end of the BPS8 port tube, there is a tether. Guide the BPS8 port tube through the mounting platform opening using the tether. Position the end of the port tube as close as possible to the back of the mounting platform. Loop the tether into the anchored zip tie and secure it. This ensures the port tube is accessible and protected from interference by other tradespersons.
Step 6: Secure Wiring
Diagram shows speaker wires being secured to a zip tie near the terminals.
Secure the speaker wires to the included zip tie near the terminals to prevent accidental disconnection by other tradespersons.
Step 7: Connect Amplifier Wires
Diagram shows speaker wires being connected to the input terminals on the BPS8, with red for positive and black for negative.
Attach the four conductor wires from the amplifier to the input terminals on the BPS8. Connect positive wires to the red terminals and negative wires to the black terminals. Run the speaker wires to the amplifier location and perform a signal test using a 9V battery. Note: The port tube contains a foam plug with a tether. Ensure pressure levels do not dislodge the foam and tether. Do not connect the voice coils in parallel.
