HEAT Mode Operation Characteristics

HEAT Mode Operating Mechanism and Capacity

Mechanism: The unit takes in cold outside air, heats it, and transfers it indoors, thus heating the environment. The heating capacity of the heat pump system decreases as the outdoor air temperature drops.

It may take some time after turning on the air conditioner before the unit starts supplying hot air.

If the outdoor temperature becomes extremely low, it is recommended to use an additional heating source.

Defrosting

If the outdoor temperature is low and the ambient humidity is high, the heat exchanger in the outdoor unit may freeze, preventing efficient heating. If this occurs, the automatic defrost function will activate, stopping heating mode operation for 5 to 15 minutes.

  • Both the indoor and outdoor fans stop, and the RUN light flashes slowly (1.5 sec ON, 0.5 sec OFF) during defrosting.
  • The outdoor unit may emit some steam during this operation. This is to aid the defrosting process and is not a defect.
  • HEAT operation resumes as soon as defrosting is complete.

Auto Restart Function

What is the Auto Restart Function?

The auto restart function records the operating state of the air conditioner immediately before it turns off due to a power failure, and automatically restores its functions after the power supply has been recovered.

The following settings will be canceled:

  1. Timer settings
  2. HIGH POWER operations

NOTE: The auto restart function is activated when the air conditioner leaves the factory. Consult your dealer if you wish to deactivate this function.

If a power failure occurs, the timer programming is canceled. When power is restored, you will need to reprogram the timer again.

Tips for Effective Operation

To operate your unit comfortably and economically. Please consider the following:

  • Set a pleasant ambient temperature. Excessively high or low temperatures are not good for your health and waste electricity.
  • Adjust airflow direction correctly according to the operation instructions for the local placement part. Adjust the airflow up/down and left/right to achieve an even ambient temperature. The unit cannot perform left/right airflow direction adjustment.
  • Clean the filters frequently. Clogged filters can block airflow and lead to reduced operating efficiency. Ask a specialized technician to clean the air filter.
  • Operate the unit only when needed. Make good use of the timer to operate the unit only when necessary.
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and airflow. During cooling, reduce sunlight using curtains or screens. Keep windows and doors closed, except when ventilating.
  • Keep heat sources away when trying to cool a room. Keep heat sources out of the room as much as possible.

Maintenance

Before Maintenance

  • Disconnect the power supply.
  • Do not spill any liquid. You risk electric shock.
  • Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not touch the aluminum fins of the heat exchanger.
  • Do not use the following items:
  • Hot water (40°C or more) - This could deform or discolor the unit.
  • Gasoline, solvent, benzine, or cleaners, etc. - All of them could deform or scratch the unit.

During Operation Period

Cleaning the air filter. Ask a specialized technician to clean the air filter.

NOTE: The air filter that comes with the unit cannot be washed with water. When the air filter is clogged with dust, etc., the cooling and heating capacity is affected, operating noise increases, and energy is wasted. Therefore, clean the filter regularly and correctly.

At the End of the Season

  1. Run the fan for 2-3 hours. This dries the inside of the unit.
  2. Turn off the unit and disconnect the power supply. The unit consumes approximately 2 W even when not in operation. Disconnecting the power saves energy and reduces your consumption and expenses.
  3. Clean and reinstall the air filters. (The air filter that comes with the unit cannot be washed with water.)
  4. Remove the batteries from the remote control.

At the Beginning of the Season

  1. Ensure the grounding wire is not pinched or disconnected.
  2. Check for corrosion or rust on the outdoor unit frame.
  3. Ensure there are no obstacles blocking airflow around the air inlet and outlet openings of the indoor and outdoor units.
  4. Connect the power supply.
  5. Insert the batteries into the remote control.

Correct Installation

Proper Installation Position

  • Do not place any object in front of the indoor unit that would impede its proper ventilation and operation.
  • Do not install the unit in any of the following locations:
  • Where there is a risk of flammable gas leakage.
  • Risk of splashing with petroleum and its derivatives.
  • In cases where the unit is used in places like spas, where sulfur gases are generated, or in districts exposed to sea breezes, corrosion may cause damage. Consult your dealer.
  • The air conditioner body and the remote control should be more than 1 meter away from other appliances such as televisions, radios, etc.
  • The drainage of accumulated water from condensation inside the unit must be drained to the correct location.

Also Pay Attention to Operating Noises

  • When installing the unit, choose a location that can support the unit's weight and where it is fixed, and does not produce noise or vibration during operation. If vibrations are transmitted through the house, fix the unit by placing anti-vibration rubber pads between the unit itself and the anchors.
  • Choose a location where the cold or hot air, as well as noises from the indoor and outdoor units, do not cause any disturbance to your neighbors.
  • Items near the air inlet or outlet of the indoor unit can cause damage or increase operating noise. Do not leave obstacles near the air inlet or outlet.
  • If you hear an irregular sound during operation, consult your dealer.

Inspection and Maintenance

Depending on the unit's environment, the inside of the air conditioner can become quite dirty after a few years of operation. This will reduce its performance. In addition to normal cleaning, we recommend performing inspections and maintenance on the appliance. (This can make the air conditioner have a longer trouble-free lifespan.)

  • For inspection and maintenance, consult your dealer or a sales office of distribution companies. (Service charge may apply in this case.)
  • We recommend performing inspection and maintenance during seasons when the unit is not used.
  • If the unit's supply cable is damaged, it must only be replaced by a repair center authorized by the manufacturer, as special tools must be used for this purpose.

Troubleshooting

Please check the following before requesting after-sales service from your dealer.

The air conditioner does not operate correctly.

  • Is the switch disconnected?
  • Is the timer set to ON?
  • Is there a power failure or is the fuse blown?

If the air conditioner does not operate correctly after checking the points above, if doubt persists after consulting page 27, or if any of the conditions described on page 28 occur, interrupt the power supply or contact your dealer.

Poor Cooling or Heating

  • Is the ambient temperature set as desired? (Pleasant temperature)
  • Are the air filters clean (not clogged)?
  • Are windows or doors open?
  • Is sunlight directly entering the room?
  • Poor Cooling: Is there any heat source in the room? Are there many people in the room?

Notice

Airflow

  • No air comes out when starting heating mode. The RUN lamp flashes slowly (1.5 sec ON, 0.5 sec OFF). Air is stopped for 2 to 5 minutes to prevent cold air from blowing out until the heat exchanger warms up. (HOT KEEP program).
  • No air comes out during heating mode for 5 to 15 minutes, or the air that comes out is not hot. The RUN lamp flashes slowly (1.5 sec ON, 0.5 sec OFF). When the outdoor temperature is low and humidity is high, the unit sometimes performs defrosting automatically. Please wait. During defrosting, you may hear water running inside the unit. The outdoor fan sometimes stops to prevent moisture evaporation and save energy.
  • No air comes out when starting DRY (dehumidification) mode. (The RUN light is illuminated.) The fan stops blowing air to prevent blowing out cold air until the heat exchanger has warmed up. (2 to 5 min.) (HOT KEEP program).

Noise

  • Sounds like running water are heard. This is the sound produced by the liquid (refrigerant) circulating inside the unit.
  • Sounds like cracking are heard. This is caused by the expansion or contraction of plastics.
  • A hissing or clicking sound is heard. This is caused by the operation of refrigerant control valves or electrical components.
  • A whistling sound from the outdoor unit is heard. This noise indicates that the compressor's rotation speed is increasing or decreasing.
  • A sound like "shooooo" is occasionally heard for a brief period when the unit is turned off. This sound is produced when operation of another indoor unit is stopped.

Others

  • The unit does not restart immediately after you have stopped it. (The RUN light is illuminated). As a protective measure, the unit restart is blocked for 3 minutes after it has been stopped. Please wait three minutes. The microcomputer's 3-minute protection timer restarts the unit automatically.
  • Does not operate? If the auto restart function is not set, the unit will not restart automatically. Operate the remote control again to restart operation.
  • Mist comes out during COOL operation. The air blown during operation may have a particular odor. This is caused by tobacco or cosmetics that have permeated the unit.
  • Bad odor comes from the unit. The air produced during operation may have a particular odor. This is caused by tobacco or cosmetics that have permeated the unit.
  • After a power failure, the unit does not restart even though power has been restored. If the auto restart function is not set, the unit will not restart automatically. Operate the remote control again to restart operation.
  • Remote control signals are not received. Remote control signals may not be received if the unit's display area is exposed to direct sunlight or other bright lights. In this case, block the sunlight or reduce the lighting.
  • Moisture forms on the air outlet grilles. If the unit has been operating for a long period with high humidity, moisture may form on the air outlet grilles and drip.
  • The fan does not stop immediately after stopping unit operation. Indoor fan: The fan will not stop for about 2 hours if set to CLEAN operation. Outdoor fan: The fan will not stop for approximately 1 minute to protect the unit.
  • The RUN light remains on even though operation has stopped. The RUN light illuminates during CLEAN operation. The RUN light turns off when CLEAN operation is finished.

Contact Your Dealer

Immediately turn off the power supply and inform your dealer in any of the following situations:

  • Fuses or plug often burnt. Fuse blown.
  • The power supply cable is excessively hot. The power cable cover is broken.
  • PRECAUTION: If the power cable is damaged, consult your dealer or a qualified engineer to install the replacement to avoid accidents.
  • Damage is observed on the television, radio, or other electronic appliances.
  • The switch does not act reliably.
  • Abnormal noises are heard during operation.

Contact your dealer when foreign objects enter the indoor unit through the air outlets and the airflow regulator stops functioning.

The RUN and TIMER indicator lights in the unit display section flash rapidly (0.5 sec ON; 0.5 sec OFF), and the appliance does not operate.

If irregularities occur, disconnect the power immediately and reconnect it after 3 minutes. After restarting operation with the remote control's ON/OFF button, the anomalies continue.

About Multiple Air Conditioners

Simultaneous Operation

  • Air conditioners cannot be in different operating modes at the same time, e.g., one unit in "Cool" mode and another in "Heat" mode.
  • When different operations are performed, the air conditioner that was put into operation first will have priority, so the unit started later will perform the blowing operation.
  • If you want the unit started second to have priority, stop the unit that has priority or make the operation mode of the first unit the same as the second unit.
  • When indoor units are operating in different modes, the RUN light will illuminate. (Timing: 0.5 sec ON, 0.5 sec OFF)

Automatic Operation

  • When the remote control operation switch is set to "AUTO," the air conditioner automatically selects "COOL," "DRY," or "HEAT" when operation starts, depending on the room temperature.
  • During simultaneous operation of air conditioners, operating modes may automatically change in response to the temperatures of each room; this may result in the outdoor unit stopping. In such cases, COOL or HEAT modes should be used instead of AUTO. (This feature only applies when using more than one air conditioner.)

Refrigerant (Oil) Recovery Operation

  • If indoor units have not been used simultaneously for a prolonged period, the performance of heating and cooling processes may temporarily decrease. This measure is intended to control the refrigerant (oil) recovery in indoor units that have been inactive. During this process, you may hear the sound of refrigerant flow in those units.
