Danfoss PVG-EX Proportional Valve Group
Installation Guide
Product Overview
The Danfoss PVG-EX program is an explosion-proof PVG designed for hazardous areas such as mining and the oil and gas industries. It is developed in compliance with EU Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) and relevant EN standards.
Safety Warnings
- All directional control or proportional valves can fail and cause serious damage. Machine builders and system integrators are solely responsible for product selection and ensuring all performance, safety, and warning requirements are met. Compliance with Machinery Directive 2006-42-EC and EN 13849 is governed by the process of choosing the control system and safety levels.
- All national safety regulations must be fulfilled during installation, start-up, and operation. Disregarding these regulations poses a risk of serious personal injury or material damage.
- Work on the valve group must only be performed by qualified professionals.
- PVG units with non-conductive coating require preventive protection against electrostatic charge via an earthed metal connection.

Assembly Diagrams
The document includes diagrams illustrating standard and optional assembly procedures for the PVG-EX system, showing the connections between modules like PVE-EX, PVB, PVP, and PVM.
Bleeding Procedure
If the valve group is installed vertically, bleeding at the adjusting screws is recommended. Bleeding of the PVEA may be necessary due to hydraulic build-up.
Pressure Setting
Instructions and diagrams are provided for pressure setting of PVP, LSA, and LSB components.
PVM - Lever Installation
The lever should be screwed completely home. The PVG must be used only with the Danfoss certified manual lever with a plastic knob. Ensure sufficient space for free movement of the lever to prevent impact with solid objects.
PVE - Installation
For installation, mounting, and technical data of the PVE-EX, refer to the specific PVE-EX Installation Guides:
