Chapter 1 BIOS Update

UEFI Shell

Follow these instructions to update BIOS:

1. Go to the Gigabyte website (https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Mini-PcBarebone) and key in the model name in the search bar to access the product page.Screenshot shows the Gigabyte website with navigation for Mini-PC Barebone (BRIX) products, including a search bar and product listing. 2. Go to "Support" page and look for the latest BIOS file. Click "Download".Screenshot shows the support page for GB-BMCE-4500C, with sections for Downloads, Manual, Support, List, and FAQ. The Downloads section lists BIOS files with version, size, date, and download links.

4. Power on BRIX and press “DEL” to enter the BIOS setting page. Then go to “Chipset” tab and set “BIOS Lock" to disable. (Intel platform only)Screenshot shows the BIOS setup utility. The "Chipset" tab is selected, and the "BIOS Lock" option is shown set to "Disable".
5. Go to "Save & Exit" tab and set “ME FW Image Re-Flash” to Enable. (Intel platform only)Screenshot shows the "Save & Exit" tab of the BIOS setup utility. The "ME FW Image Re-Flash" option is shown set to "Enabled".
6. Go to Boot Option #1 and choose your USB Flash device accordingly.Screenshot shows the "Boot" tab of the BIOS setup utility. "Boot Option #1" is set to a USB flash drive (e.g., UEFI: JetFlash Transcend 32GB).

8. All the devices will be displayed on the screen, then type "fs0" to select your USB drive.Screenshot shows the EFI Shell interface. It displays device mapping information and prompts the user to select a drive, showing "fs0:\" as the current path.
9. Enter the BIOS folder and type "flash.nsh” to start the BIOS update process.Screenshot shows the EFI Shell interface again, after navigating to the BIOS folder (e.g., fs0:\F5_BIOS>). It lists the files in the directory and shows the command flash.nsh being executed.
