Design for Safety

While radiation from dental imaging is generally low compared to everyday environmental exposures, the cumulative effects are well documented. Help ensure patients receive radiation doses that are "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA) by following FDA and ADA guidelines. These guidelines consider three main factors:

USE THE RIGHT DOSE.

Consider the following 3 factors before imaging patients:

Type of visit (new or recall)
Dental status (child with primary or transitional dentition, adolescent, or adult dentulous or edentulous)
Risk category for caries, periodontal disease, or growth and development assessment

From these factors, you can determine the appropriate dose for the patient's situation.

INTRAORAL IMAGING

For the lowest dose on intraoral X-ray imaging, utilize direct digital sensors like the Midmark Intraoral Digital Sensor System with the ergonomic Preva Intraoral X-Ray. Preset technique factors are adjustable to control the right dose, utilizing the smallest focal spot of 0.4 mm to produce the sharpest images.

01 Preva DC: The base Preva unit. Use it to capture images and transmit them to a sensor plugged into your workstation. Available in white or grey.
02 Preva 2.0: Features cabling in the arm and an integrated high-speed USB connector at the elbow, allowing sensor integration directly into the X-ray unit. Enhances workflow and reduces tripping hazards by keeping workstations and wires out of pathways. Available in white only.
03 Preva Plus: Integrates with and includes the Midmark Intraoral Digital Sensor for optimal wire management and sharp images. Keeps sensors accessible and safe with in-arm cable management and built-in sensor storage. Available in white only.
