Firmware Update
This unit features a firmware update function, allowing you to update the system software over a network or via the USB port. This enables Pioneer to introduce improvements to various operations and add new features.
How to Update
There are two primary methods for updating the firmware: via network and via USB. Both methods typically take about 20 minutes to complete. Importantly, any settings you have previously configured on the unit will be maintained regardless of the update method used. When the unit is connected to a network, you may receive notifications on the display about available firmware updates. To initiate an update, select "Update Now" using the remote controller's cursors and press ENTER. A "Completed!" message will appear once the update is finished.
- For the latest update information, please visit the Pioneer website.
- There is no need to update the firmware if no new version is available.
- Before starting an update, ensure that the speaker setup microphone is not connected.
- During an update, do not perform any of the following actions:
- Disconnect or reconnect any cables, USB storage devices, speaker setup microphones, or headphones.
- Perform any operation on the component, such as turning off its power.
- Access the unit from a PC or smartphone using an application.

- Press the [standby/on-button] on the main unit to switch it to standby mode. The firmware update is now complete.
- Do not use the remote controller during this final standby step.
Updating via USB
Follow these steps to update your firmware using a USB storage device:
- Prepare a USB storage device with a capacity of 128MB or larger, formatted with FAT16 or FAT32.
- Media inserted via a USB card reader may not be compatible with this function.
- USB storage devices with security functions are not supported.
- USB hubs and devices utilizing hub functions are not supported; do not connect them to the unit.
- Delete any existing data from the USB storage device.
- Turn off any controller components (e.g., PC) connected to the network.
- Stop any currently playing Internet radio, USB storage device content, or server content.
- If "HDMI CEC" is set to "On" under "System Setup" > "Hardware" > "HDMI" in the Home screen, set it to "Off". (Note: The on-screen display text may vary slightly, but the function remains the same.)
- Some USB storage devices may take longer to load, might not load correctly, or may not be read properly depending on the device or its content.
Disclaimer for USB Usage: Pioneer will not be held liable for any loss or damage of data, or storage failure arising from the use of a USB storage device with this AV receiver. Your understanding is appreciated.
Steps:
- Connect the USB storage device to your PC.
- Download the firmware file from the Pioneer website to your PC and unzip it. Firmware files are typically named in the format: PIOAVR****_************.zip. Unzip the file on your PC. The number of unzipped files and folders may vary by model.
- Copy all unzipped files and folders to the root folder of the USB storage device. Ensure you copy the unzipped files.
- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the main unit. If using a USB hard disk drive, it is recommended to use its AC adapter for power. If the USB storage device has partitions, each section will be treated as an independent device.
- Switch the TV input to the one assigned to this unit.
- Press the [home-button] on the remote controller.
- Navigate to "System Setup" > "Miscellaneous" > "Firmware Update" > "Update via USB" using the cursors and press ENTER.

- A "Completed!" message will be displayed upon successful completion.
- Disconnect the USB storage device from the main unit.
- Press the [standby/on-button] on the main unit to switch it to standby mode. The firmware update is now complete.
- Do not use the remote controller during this final standby step.
Error Messages
If an error occurs during the update process, an error message in the format "[error-code] Error!" will be displayed on the unit's screen, where "[error-code]" represents an alphanumeric character. Check the following:
- [error-code] 01, [error-code] 10: USB storage device not found. Verify that the USB storage device or its cable is correctly inserted into the unit's USB port. If the USB storage device has its own power supply, connect it to an external power source.
- [error-code] 02, [error-code] 03, [error-code] 04, [error-code] 05, [error-code] 06, [error-code] 11, [error-code] 13, [error-code] 14, [error-code] 16, [error-code] 17, [error-code] 18, [error-code] 20, [error-code] 21: Internet connection error. Check the following:
- Ensure your router is powered on.
- Confirm that this unit and the router are connected to the network.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord for both the unit and the router. This may resolve the issue. If you are still unable to connect to the Internet, the DNS server or proxy server may be temporarily unavailable. Check the service status with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- Others: Disconnect and reconnect the power cord, then repeat the update process from the beginning.
