Pioneer VSX-832 AV Receiver Firmware Update
This document provides instructions for updating the firmware (system software) of the Pioneer VSX-832 AV Receiver via network or USB.
The Updating Function on This Unit
This unit supports firmware updates over a network connection or via a USB port. These updates allow for improvements to operations and the addition of new features.
How to Update
Firmware can be updated using two methods: via network or via USB. Both methods typically take about 20 minutes to complete. Your existing settings will be preserved regardless of the method chosen.
When the unit is connected to a network, notifications about available firmware updates may appear on the display. To start an update, select "Update Now" using the remote controller's cursors and press ENTER. A "Completed!" message will appear once the update is finished.
Prerequisites and Precautions:
- For the latest update information, visit the Pioneer website.
- If no update is available, no action is required.
- Before updating: Ensure the speaker setup microphone is disconnected.
- During an update: Do not disconnect any cables, USB storage devices, speaker setup microphones, or headphones. Do not perform any operations on the unit, such as turning off its power. Do not access the unit from a PC or smartphone using an application.
Updating the Firmware via Network

Steps:
- Connect the USB storage device to your PC.
- Download the firmware file from the Pioneer website to your PC and unzip it. Firmware files are typically named
PIOAVR****_************.zip
. Unzip the file on your PC; the number of unzipped files and folders may vary by model. - Copy all unzipped files and folders to the root folder of the USB storage device. Ensure you copy the unzipped files.
- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the main unit. If using a USB hard disk drive, it is recommended to use its AC adapter for power. If the USB storage device is partitioned, each section is treated as an independent device.
