1 Intended Use

The product is an HDMI splitter comprising a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter distributes the HDMI source signal to a maximum of 4 receivers using twisted-pair cables. The HDMI splitter supports one-way IR control and EDID management. This product is intended for indoor use only. Avoid use in outdoor environments. Moisture contact must be avoided under all circumstances. Using the product for purposes other than intended may damage it. Improper use can cause short circuits, fires, electric shocks, or other hazards. This product complies with relevant national and European requirements. For safety reasons and according to regulations, alteration and/or modification of the product are not permitted. Read the instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. 5 Safety Instructions

5.1 General Information

  • The product is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not leave packaging material lying around unattended. It could become a dangerous toy for children.
  • Do not hesitate to contact our customer service or other qualified technical personnel if you have questions that are not answered in the product's instruction manual.

5.2 Handling

  • If the product can no longer be operated safely, take it out of service and protect it from any accidental use. Proper functioning is no longer guaranteed if the product: is visibly damaged, no longer works correctly, has been stored for long periods in adverse environmental conditions, or has been subjected to severe stress during transport. Handle the product with care. Jolts, impacts, or falls, even from low heights, can damage the product. Consult an expert if you have doubts about the operation, safety, or connection of the device.

5.3 Operating Conditions

  • Do not subject the product to mechanical stress.
  • Protect the equipment from extreme temperatures, strong impacts, flammable gases, vapors, and solvents.
  • Protect the product from moisture and wetness.
  • Protect the product from direct sunlight.
  • Do not switch on the product after it has been moved from a cold to a warm environment. Generated condensation could irreparably damage it. Allow the product to reach ambient temperature before use.

5.4 Power Adapter

  • Do not tamper with power supply components. Risk of lethal electric shock!
  • Always ensure that the connection is made correctly.
  • Do not use damaged power supply components.
  • Do not modify power supply components.
  • Connect the device to an easily accessible wall socket.
  • Use only the supplied power adapter as the power source.
  • Connect the power adapter to a standard power outlet connected to the public power supply.
  • Never connect or disconnect power adapters with wet hands.
  • Never disconnect the adapter from the socket by pulling the cable: always use the grip points on the plug.
  • For safety reasons, disconnect the power adapter from the power outlet during thunderstorms.
  • Avoid touching the power adapter if there are visible signs of damage, as this could cause a fatal electric shock! Proceed as follows: Disconnect the mains voltage at the socket to which the power adapter is connected (disconnect the voltage at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse and then disconnect the voltage at the corresponding RCD protection switch). Disconnect the power adapter from the electrical socket. Use a new power adapter with the same design. Avoid further use of the damaged adapter.

7.2 HDMI Transmitter Setup

Before transmitting video, configure the HDMI transmitter. Important: The location where it is configured must ensure proper heat dissipation.

REQUIREMENTS: All playback devices (mediabox, audio system) that you wish to connect to the HDMI transmitter must be switched off.

  1. On the HDMI transmitter, move the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect an HDMI video source (e.g., mediabox) to the HDMI IN port.
  3. Connect an audio system to the AUDIO OUT L/R and AUDIO OUT COAX ports. If necessary, consult the audio system's documentation for details on audio connections. Note: The L/R jack port is a 3.5 mm TRS type. Connect only compatible jack connectors.
  4. (Optional) To play video near the transmitter, connect an HDMI display or TV to the LOOP OUT port.
  5. Place the HDMI transmitter on a stable surface. WARNING! Avoid placement on surfaces sensitive to heat or scratches. --OR-- Use the mounting brackets to permanently mount the HDMI transmitter.

7.3 HDMI Receiver Setup

Before transmitting video, configure the HDMI receivers. Important: The location where it is configured must ensure proper heat dissipation.

For each HDMI receiver that is connected:

  1. On the HDMI receiver, connect a twisted-pair cable (CAT6/6a/7) to the CAT IN port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a free CAT OUTPUT 1-4 port on the HDMI transmitter.
  3. On the HDMI receiver, connect an HDMI display or TV to the HDMI OUT port.
  4. Place the HDMI receiver on a stable surface. WARNING! Avoid placement on surfaces sensitive to heat or scratches. --OR-- Use the mounting brackets to permanently mount the HDMI receiver.

7.4 IR Control Setup

Infrared control (IR control) is useful when the HDMI transmitter and HDMI receiver are physically separated by walls or other objects that IR light cannot penetrate. For example, if you set up the mediabox in the living room and want to watch a movie on the TV in the bedroom. The IR setup allows you to use an IR remote control in the bedroom to control the mediabox in the living room.

7.4.2 Connecting the IR Transmitter and Receiver

To enable infrared control (IR), connect the IR sensors to the transmitter and HDMI receiver.

  1. Connect the IR receiver to the IR IN port on the HDMI receiver.
  2. Connect the IR blaster to the IR OUT port on the HDMI transmitter.
  3. Attach the blaster head (sensor) in front of the mediabox's IR receiver. Maintain a distance of approximately 3 cm between the IR blaster head and the mediabox's IR receiver.

7.5 Setting the EDID Mode

Set the EDID mode to align the video and audio settings of the HDMI transmitter with the HDMI source (e.g., mediabox).

  1. Switch off the HDMI transmitter.
  2. Download the reference material from www.conrad.com/downloads.
  3. On the HDMI transmitter, use the EDID switches to set the required EDID mode as shown in the EDID reference material.

7.6 Connecting the Power Supply

To power the HDMI transmitter/receiver set, connect the power adapter to the HDMI transmitter or receiver.

  1. Connect the power adapter cable connector to the power socket on the HDMI transmitter or HDMI receiver.
  2. Tighten the nut to securely fasten the connector.

8 Operation

8.1 Video Transmission

After connecting the HDMI transmitter and receiver, you can transmit video.

  1. For power on, move the On/Off switch to On. → The power indicator lights up.
  2. Start the video on the mediabox.
  3. After use, move the On/Off switch to Off to power down.

8.2 IR Remote Control

After configuring the IR transmitter and receiver, control the mediabox with a compatible IR remote control.

If in proximity to the HDMI transmitter: point the mediabox remote control at it to control it.

If in proximity to the HDMI receiver: point the remote control at the IR receiver connected to the HDMI receiver to control the mediabox.

8.3 ASCII Command Control

Connect a PC to the HDMI transmitter and control it using ASCII commands.

  1. Download the reference material for ASCII commands from www.conrad.com/downloads.
  2. Connect the PC to the SERVICE port on the HDMI transmitter using a micro USB data cable.
  3. Open a serial command tool on the PC and control the HDMI transmitter by sending ASCII commands as described in the ASCII command reference material.

9 Cleaning and Maintenance

WARNING! Do not use aggressive cleaners, alcohol, or other chemical solutions as they can damage the housing and cause malfunctions.

  1. Disconnect the product from the power supply.
  2. Clean the product with a dry, lint-free cloth.
