BEFORE THE FIRST USE
To ensure the first cup of coffee tastes excellent, rinse the coffee maker with warm water as follows:
- Pour water into the water tank; the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank. Note: The appliance is supplied with a detachable tank for easy cleaning; you can fill the tank with water first, and then put the tank into the appliance.
- Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel (no coffee in the steel mesh).
- Place a jug on the removable shelf. Make sure the steam control knob is in the OFF position. Note: The appliance is not equipped with a jug; please use your own jug or coffee cup.
- Connect to the power source. Press the power switch “ON/OFF” once; the blue indicator will be winking.
- Press the coffee switch; the pump will pump water. When water is flowing out, close the pump by pressing the coffee switch. Press the coffee switch again, and water will flow out.
- After water stops dripping, pour the water from each container out and clean them thoroughly. You can now start brewing. Note: There may be noise when pumping water for the first time; this is normal as the appliance is releasing air inside. After about 20 seconds, the noise will disappear. The coffee indicator may be warning when the coffee maker is first used; this is normal. Press the coffee switch selector. After about 20 seconds, the warning will disappear.
PRE-HEATING
To make a cup of good hot Espresso coffee, preheating the appliance, including the funnel, filter, and cup, is recommended so that the coffee flavor is not influenced by cold parts.
- Remove the detachable tank to fill it with desired water; the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank. Then place the tank into the appliance properly.
- Select the steam mesh. Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel, ensuring the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the appliance. Insert the funnel into the appliance from the “Insert” position and fix it firmly into the coffee maker by turning it anticlockwise until it is at the “Lock” position.
- Place an espresso cup on the removable shelf.
- Connect the appliance to the power supply. Ensure the steam control knob is in the closed position.
- Press the power switch “ON/OFF” once; the power indicator blinks. After preheating is finished, the power indicator lights solidly. Press the coffee switch; when water flows out, close the pump immediately. This step pumps water from the tank into the housing.
MAKE ESPRESSO
- Remove the funnel by turning it clockwise. Add ground coffee using the steel mesh with a measuring spoon. One spoon of ground coffee powder can make about a cup of top-grade coffee. Press the ground coffee powder tightly with the tamper.
- Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel, ensuring the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the appliance. Insert the funnel into the appliance from the “Insert” position and fix it firmly into the coffee maker by turning it anticlockwise until it is at the “Lock” position.
- Pour hot water into the cup. After the cup is warmed up, empty the water and dry the cup, then place the hot cup on the removable shelf.
- At this time, the power switch lamp should be illuminated. If it is extinguished, wait for a moment. Once illuminated, press the coffee switch and wait for a moment; coffee will start flowing out. Press the coffee switch again when the required amount is obtained, and the water pump will stop working.
WARNING:
- Do not leave the coffee maker unattended during coffee making, as manual operation may be required.
- After finishing making coffee, remove the metal funnel by turning it clockwise. Pour out the coffee residue using the steel mesh pressed by the press bar.
- Let them cool down completely, then rinse under running water.
- Recommended single coffee cup: approximately 30ml. Double coffee cup: approximately 60ml. The working time for brewing a single cup of coffee is at most 60 seconds, and the water pump will stop working if the working time exceeds 60 seconds.
MAKE HOT WATER
When preheating is finished, the power indicator lights up solidly. Press the steam switch twice in a row for 2 seconds, and the water pump starts to pump water. Turn the knob, and hot water will flow out of the steam pipe. To stop making hot water, press the steam switch again or press the coffee switch again. Hot water is used for warming cups, making tea, or cooling down the appliance.
Please refer to the operation described in the section “Make ESPRESSO” when needing to adjust the working time for making hot water.
MAKE CAPPUCCINO/FROTHED MILK
You get a cup of cappuccino when you top up a cup of espresso with frothed milk.
Method:
- Prepare espresso first with a container large enough, according to the section “MAKE ESPRESSO COFFEE”. Ensure the steam control knob is in the “OFF” position.
- Press the steam switch selector and wait until the indicator in the steam switch selector is illuminated. Note: During operation, the indicator in the steam selector will cycle on and off to maintain the desired temperature.
- Fill a jug with about 100 ml of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared. Whole milk at refrigerator temperature (not hot!) is recommended. Note: When choosing the size of the jug, it is recommended that the diameter is not less than 70±5mm. Bear in mind that milk increases in volume by 2 times, so ensure the height of the jug is sufficient.
- Turn the steam control knob slowly anticlockwise; steam will come out from the frothing device. Note: Never turn the steam control button rapidly, as steam will accumulate quickly in a short time, which may increase the potential risk of explosion.
- Insert the frothing device into the milk about two centimeters. Froth the milk by moving the vessel round from up to down.
- When the required purpose is reached, turn the steam control knob to the closed position. Note: Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after steam stops generating, but be careful not to get hurt!
- Pour the frothed milk into the prepared espresso. The cappuccino is now ready. Sweeten to taste and, if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder.
- Press the Power switch to cut off the power source. All indicators will be extinguished.
WARNING: After finishing the “Steam” function, if the coffee indicator and steam indicator blink fast when pressing the coffee switch, it means the appliance's temperature is too high. The appliance needs to be turned off and rested for more than 5 minutes, or you can activate the “Hot water” function to cool down the appliance. The water pump will stop pumping water automatically if the temperature is normal. The coffee will be burnt, and there will be overflow at the funnel if the appliance brews coffee directly without being cooled down.
AUTOMATIC POWER OFF FUNCTION
If there is no operation within 25 minutes, the unit will power off automatically.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Cut off the power source and let the coffee maker cool down completely before cleaning.
- Clean the housing of the coffee maker with a moisture-proof sponge often. Clean the water tank, drip tray, and removable shelf regularly, then dry them. Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleanser. Never immerse the housing in water for cleaning.
- Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise. Remove coffee residue inside, then clean it with cleanser, and finally rinse with clear water.
- Clean all attachments in water and dry thoroughly.
CLEANING MINERAL DEPOSITS
- If the coffee maker has been in use for about 3 months, you need to clean mineral deposits.
- Fill the tank with water and descaler to the MAX level. The scale of water and descaler is 4:1. Refer to the descaler's instructions for details. Use a “household descaler”; citric acid (obtainable from chemists or drug stores) can be used instead of the descaler (one hundred parts water to three parts citric acid).
- According to the pre-heating program, place the metal funnel (without coffee powder) and a jug in place. Brew water as per “PRE-HEATING”.
- Press the Power switch once; the blue lamp in the power switch will illuminate. Press the coffee switch, ensure the coffee selector is set, and when water flows out, close the pump. Wait a moment; the coffee maker begins to be heated.
- When the lamp in the power switch is illuminated, heating is finished. Press the coffee switch and make two cups of coffee (about 2 oz). Then close the pump and wait for 5 seconds.
- Press the steam selector; the indicator in the steam switch will extinguish. Wait until the indicator in the steam selector illuminates. Make steam for 2 minutes by turning the steam control knob, then turn the steam control knob to the closed position to stop making steam. Press the Power switch to stop the unit immediately. Let the descaler deposit in the unit for at least 15 minutes.
- Restart the unit and repeat steps 4-6 at least 3 times.
- Then press the coffee/steam selector; the lamp in the coffee switch will illuminate. Press the coffee switch to brew until no descaler is left.
- Then brew coffee (without coffee powder) with tap water at the MAX level, repeating steps 4-6 for 3 times (no need to wait 15 minutes in step 6). Brew until no water is left in the tank.
- Repeat step 9 at least 3 times to ensure the piping is clean.
