Product Overview
The MEAN WELL RPS-300 series is a 300W highly reliable green PCB type medical power supply offering high power density within a compact 5" by 3" footprint. It accepts a wide input voltage range of 90~264VAC and provides various output voltages from 12V to 48V. With a working efficiency up to 93% and extremely low no-load power consumption below 0.5W (achieved via PS-ON control), it is designed for energy efficiency. The series features extremely low leakage current (less than 150 μA) and conforms to international medical regulations (2xMOPP) and EMC standards (BS EN/EN55011), making it suitable for BF rated "patient contact" medical system equipment. An enclosed style model (RPS-300-C) is also available.

- 1. All parameters NOT specially mentioned are measured at 230VAC input, rated load and 25 °C of ambient temperature.
- 2. Ripple & noise are measured at 20MHz of bandwidth by using a 12" twisted pair-wire terminated with a 0.1μf & 47μf parallel capacitor.
- 3. Tolerance : includes set up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

Diagrams and Performance Curves
Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the internal architecture of the RPS-300 power supply. Input power (I/P) and protective earth (FG) enter an EMI Filter. This is followed by Rectifiers & PFC, and then Power Switching. A Control block manages the system, including Overload Protection (O.L.P.), Over Voltage Protection (O.V.P.), and PS-ON Control. The output stage includes detection circuits for +5VSB and PG (Power Good), and rectifiers and filters for various output voltages: +5VSB, +12V FAN supply, +S, +V, -V, -S, and PG. The diagram indicates PFC frequency at 65KHz and PWM frequency at 70KHz.
Derating Curve
The Derating Curve graph plots Load (W) against Ambient Temperature (°C). Two main curves are shown: 'Convection for RPS-300' and 'Convection for RPS-300-C', indicating reduced maximum load at higher temperatures when relying solely on convection cooling. A third curve, 'With 20.5CFM Fan for RPS-300/RPS-300-C', shows significantly higher load capacity at elevated temperatures when the fan is active. A line for '115VAC Convection' is also present, showing a lower derating point.
Output Derating VS Input Voltage
The Output Derating VS Input Voltage graph shows Load (%) on the Y-axis against Input Voltage (VAC) at 60Hz on the X-axis. The graph indicates that the power supply can operate at 100% load across a wide input voltage range, from approximately 95 VAC to 264 VAC, with some derating below 95 VAC and a specific point at 115 VAC.

Notes on Connectors and Configuration
- 1. The FAN supply is designed to serve as the source of the additive external fan for the cooling of the power supply, enabling the full load delivery and assuring the best life span of the product. Please do not use this FAN supply to drive other devices.
- 2. The PCB type (Blank type) model delivers EMI Class B for both conducted emission and radiated emission for power supply, when configured into either Class I (with FG).
- 3. The enclosed type(-C type) model is not suitable for configuration within a Class II (no FG) system but suggested within a Class I (with FG) system.
