Trumavent TEB/TN Installation Guide

Installation Instructions for Air Distribution and Ventilation

General Information

Installation and repair are permitted only by a qualified technician. Please read the installation instructions carefully before starting work.

Important: This fan is not permitted for use with the Truma S 55 T heater. During installation of the Trumavent fan, the exhaust gas duct of the heater must not be modified or damaged (e.g., upward installation, possibly with an exhaust duct bracket).

Assembly of the Fan in the Heater Installation Box

For heaters from manufacturing year 05/96

Figure A: Remove the pre-punched cover on the rear of the installation box. Screw in or loosen the screws (1) sufficiently so that the mounting brackets of the fan can be hooked in. Tighten the screws carefully.

For heaters up to manufacturing year 05/96

Figure B: Remove the pre-punched cover on the rear of the installation box and, if necessary, screw (2). Screw in or loosen screw (3) sufficiently so that the mounting bracket of the fan can be hooked in. If necessary, screw in screw (5). Align the fan in the opening (4) towards screw (5). For the mounting points (6), drill 2 new holes with a diameter of 2 mm. Ensure that both bracket pieces are drilled. Screw the fan in with sheet metal screws 3.5 x 22 mm.

For the installation of two fans

A special installation box for connecting two fans is available for the Trumatic S 5002 heater. For the right-hand fan, turn the warm air nozzle (Figure B: 7) so that the opening is in the center. To do this, unscrew screw (8) before mounting it in the installation box, rotate the warm air nozzle (7) and reattach it with screw (8).

Installation of the External Control Unit

Figure C: When selecting the installation location, ensure that the control unit (9) is not exposed to direct heat radiation. Connection cable length (10) is 1.50 m.

If built-in installation of the control unit is not possible, Truma supplies a surface-mounted frame (11 – item no. 40000-52600) as a special accessory upon request.

Drill a hole with a diameter of 55 mm. Route the cable to the rear and attach the control unit (9) with 4 screws (12). Then attach the cover frame (13) and route the cable to the fan.

As a finish for the cover frames, Truma supplies side pieces (14) in 8 different colors as special accessories (please inquire with your dealer).

Installation of the Integrated Control Unit (for TEB fan only)

The control unit can be installed in the heater housing for heating devices S 3002 (P, K) from manufacturing year 05/96 and S 5002 from manufacturing year 05/98.

Figure D: Remove the blanking cover from the heater housing. Connect the connection cable (15) to the control unit (16). Bend the bracket (17) on the heater installation box backward and route the connection cable (15). Insert the control unit (switch at the front).

For installation in combination with the Airmix comfort package, a control unit cable with a length of 1.3 m (item no. 40000-47900) is available.

Electrical Connection for Trumavent TEB 12 V

Technical Data:

In Germany, according to § 22 a StVZO (road traffic regulations), electrical wiring, connection and control devices for heating systems must be installed in the vehicle in such a way that their proper function cannot be affected under normal operating conditions. All externally routed cables must be sealed against water spray at the openings.

Important Notes:

Figure A: Insert the plug from the control unit cable (18). Connect the device to the vehicle's fused electrical supply using a 2 x 1.5 mm² cable. Negative conductor to the central ground. If connecting directly to the battery, the positive and negative conductors must be fused. Make connections using fully insulated Faston connectors (6.3 mm vehicle flat plug system).

The flush-mount connection (K) applies only to the Trumatic S 3002 K heating device. The complete electrical connection for this type of heater must be carried out according to the heater's installation instructions.

Incorrect pole connection can lead to burnt cables. Furthermore, all warranty or liability rights will be voided.

The Trumavent TEB fan can also be operated with 230 V ~ using the Truma SPU voltage converter (item no. 40000-47700). The SPU voltage converter should be installed as close to the floor as possible. Connecting additional 12 V devices to this voltage converter is not possible.

For connecting multiple 12 V devices, the Truma battery charger NT12/ 3-18 (item no. 39901-01) is recommended. This charger (18 A charging current) is suitable for charging lead-acid or gel batteries. Other chargers may only be used with a 12 V battery as a regulator. Power supply units must have an adjustable 12 V output (AC voltage component less than 1 Vss – peak-to-peak voltage).

Important Notes:

Electrical Connection for Trumavent TN 230 V ~

Technical Data:

Electrical installation may only be carried out by a qualified technician (in Germany according to VDE 0100, section 721). The instructions provided here are not an invitation for laypersons to perform the electrical connection themselves, but serve as additional information for the specialist technician you have chosen for the installation!

The connection to the electrical grid is made via a 3 x 1.5 mm² cable to a distribution socket (e.g., flexible H05VV-F conductor).

Ensure correct connection with the correct colors!

For maintenance and repair work, a local isolation device must be available for isolating all poles from the electrical network with at least 3.5 mm contact clearance.

Figure E: Remove the plastic cover (19). Remove the strain relief clips (20). Route the control unit connection cable (10) and the electrical connection cable (21) through the opening (22) and connect as shown in the figure. Lower the strain relief clips (20) onto the two cable sheaths and secure with screws (23). Then screw on the plastic cover (19).

When screwing on the plastic cover (19), ensure that the cable is not pinched between the cover and the housing. Failure to do so may result in a short circuit!

Warm Air Distribution

The warm air system is assembled particularly for each vehicle type according to the modular principle. A wide range of accessories is available for this purpose (see advertising brochure).

Diagrams with ideal installation suggestions for warm air installations for all known types of caravans and motorhomes can be requested free of charge from Truma's central service.

Figure F: The warm air outlets (24) are designed for fan ducts with a diameter of 65 mm or 72 mm. Push the fan ducts firmly onto or into the warm air outlets. If non-pressure-resistant original Truma fan ducts are not used, the ducts must be secured with two 2.9 mm sheet metal screws.

The airflow can be individually adjusted for the warm air distribution via the airflow control (25). In the middle position, the warm air is distributed 50% to both outlets.

For different fan duct lengths or sides with higher heat requirements, the 72 mm fan duct should be used. This allows the full air output to be utilized on this side. By changing the airflow control setting (25), the airflow can be individually increased on this side. This reduces the air output on the other side.
