Tools required (not included): Mallet (to secure the pegs), Wire strippers (to cut and strip the wire).
2. Lawn Preparation
Prepare your lawn by removing foreign objects from the cutting area. Clear the lawn of stones, loose pieces of wood, wire, mains cables, and other foreign objects.
Identify any objects like trees, flower beds, or ponds to ensure you know what items to wire around later. Note any slopes greater than 27%.
Cut the main area of the lawn to 40 mm. Then, cut the area where you intend to lay the perimeter wire to the lowest setting of your conventional mower.
Your lawn is now ready to start the installation.
3. Docking Station Placement
Determine the best place to position your docking station, where your Indego will return on its own to get charged.
- Place the docking station on level ground for correct docking.
- Position the docking station beside the cutting area with a straight 1.5 m track in front of it.
- It is recommended to place the docking station in a corner of your lawn and as close to the power supply as possible.
- Leave 1.0 m of free space perpendicular to the docking station.
- Ensure the charging pins point left when placing the docking station. Avoid direct sunlight if possible, as prolonged exposure can overheat the battery.
- Place the docking station close to a power socket. The total length of the power cable is 5 m plus 2 m from the power supply to the plug.
- Fix the 4 docking station screws in place with the hex key.
4. Power Connection
Power the docking station so the mower is ready to go after installation.
- Feed the power supply through the backing cover and into the docking station. Do not clip the cover yet.
- Ensure the power supply is in a cool, dry environment.
- Plug the cable into an indoor power socket.
- Switch the Indego on using the isolator switch at the back of the mower. The mower will not charge if it is not turned on.
- Slide the mower into the docking station for charging. It is recommended to charge it fully before the first use. Ensure the isolator switch is on.
- Check the indicator on the docking station. It should be stable. If not, verify the mains plug and the mower's position in the station.
5. Perimeter Wire Layout
This is a crucial step that defines the cutting areas. Use pegs to keep the wire in place.
Distances to maintain:
- Level surface: 5 cm
- Wall/fence/bush: 30 cm
- Pond of water, deep step: >75 cm
- Distance between objects: >75 cm
Take the plastic out from the reel and pull the end of the perimeter wire.
Feed the perimeter wire through the tubing on the docking station.
Strip 10-15 mm of insulation off the wire.
Connect the wire to the right-hand (black) terminal.
Pull the wire from the coil, tauten, and fix it with pegs. Ensure the wire is straight and in line with the docking station tubing for 1.5 m, continuing to peg every 75 cm.
Lay the perimeter wire around the lawn area and objects in an anti-clockwise direction, starting from the docking station.
Mark out permanent objects you do not want the mower to run over. Run the wire from the lawn perimeter to the object, continue around the object in a clockwise direction with closer pegs, and return the wire to the perimeter. Ensure at least 75 cm distance between the wire around the object and the lawn perimeter.
Ensure there is no loose wire, the wire is taut and flat to the ground, and increase the number of pegs at corners.
When the perimeter wire has been laid around the entire cutting area, peg the wire down within 10 cm in line with the docking station.
- Cut the wire and strip 10-15 mm of insulation off.
- Connect it to the left-hand (red) terminal.
- Clip over the backing cover.
After a few weeks, the wire will disappear under the grass. Approximately 20 cm of lawn around the fixed object and the edge of the lawn will not be mown.
6. Screen Settings and Mapping Your Lawn
If you have purchased an Indego Connect, set up your account and complete the final steps through the Bosch Smart Gardening app.
To operate your Indego, ensure the isolator switch is on at the back of the mower and press the key. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Set Language: Use the directional buttons to choose your preferred language.
- Enter Personal PIN code: Keep your PIN code secret. Note your PIN code in the provided space. If you own a non-Connect mower and lose your PIN, contact Bosch. For Indego Connect, reset your PIN via the app.
- Set Time and Date: Set the current time and date.
- Map the Garden: Press the key to map the garden. The mower will follow the wire around the edge of the lawn. Mapping is complete when the machine touches the docking station.
- Confirm AUTO Calendar Function: Confirm the recommended schedule or set up a new one in the "Menu > Calendar". You can also press "Mow now" to start immediately.
- Set the Height of Cut: Adjust the cutting height based on the grass length. Start with a higher setting and gradually reduce it.
Enjoy watching your Indego mowing the lawn for you!
7. Your Indego is Intelligent
Logicut Intelligent Cutting: During the first 3 full cuts, your Indego learns the lawn shape and the location of marked objects.
How your Indego learns the lawn shape:
- Mapping the cutting area: After setup, your Indego maps the garden by following the perimeter wire and saves the map. It only follows the outer perimeter wire during mapping.
- Learning the location of objects marked out with the perimeter wire: After mapping, your Indego starts cutting the border, then moves to parallel lanes. It identifies marked objects, follows them to establish their shape, and returns to the docking station to confirm their location. This process repeats for each object.
Intelligent mowing: Your Indego cuts the lawn in sections of parallel lines, efficiently knowing where to cut, where grass is already cut, and the way back to the docking station. It changes lane direction each time it finishes a full cut for optimal coverage.
Border cutting: Your Indego always starts with a border cut to ensure tidy edges before commencing a full cut.
Battery charging: Your Indego returns to the docking station for recharging and resumes mowing once complete.
