Aprilaire Ventilation Control System
Model 8126
A better ventilation solution for today's tighter homes
Aprilaire offers a new market opportunity for profitable ventilation, a cost-effective solution to meet growing ventilation needs, and manages the quantity and quality of air throughout the home.
The system includes the Aprilaire Ventilation Controller and a fresh air damper, designed to manage indoor air quality in modern, tightly constructed homes.
Give builders a better solution to 'build tight and ventilate right'
Builders are constructing tighter homes with energy-efficient windows, doors, thicker insulation, and air-tight vapor barriers. This leads to potential air leaks being sealed, but also traps pollutants inside.
Without proper ventilation, pollutants like formaldehyde, radon, household chemicals, and odors cannot be exchanged for cleaner, fresher outdoor air.
"The real problem is that houses are being built with polluting materials and without provisions for supplying the occupants with fresh air."
— Healthy House Building by John Bower
Builders' options are limited
Current ventilation practices often fail to effectively exchange polluted air when needed or manage incoming air temperature and humidity, often requiring substantial investment.
- Straight pipe ventilation: Provides fresh air but lacks control over timing, potentially adding excess humidity or causing temperature swings.
- Barometric dampers: Ventilate only when the HVAC blower operates, offering little to no ventilation during milder weather.
- 'Timed' dampers: Allow a set amount of ventilation per hour but do not manage air quality, potentially increasing HVAC load and humidity.
- Energy or Heat Recovery Ventilators: Efficiently exchange air but require a significant upfront investment.
Now, you can offer a better and more profitable way to ventilate
Builders and homeowners need an affordable ventilation system that manages both the quantity and quality of fresh air. The Aprilaire Model 8126 Ventilation Control System, working with an Aprilaire fresh air damper, makes intelligent decisions about ventilation timing and duration.
- Control over humid air intake: Prevents bringing in air if indoor relative humidity exceeds 60%.
- Flexible controls and settings: Offer an ideal solution for various home types and sizes.
- Separate ventilation and cycle time adjustments: Manage incoming air quantity and circulation, ventilating only when necessary to avoid undesirable temperature or humidity levels.
Offer customized control and increase profits
The Aprilaire Model 8126 offers cost-effective ventilation, efficiently managing air exchange for indoor environments and providing builders with an opportunity to satisfy customers without sacrificing profitability.
- Economical ventilation with temperature control features.
- Consistent ventilation year-round.
- Management of both the quality and quantity of fresh air.
- Fresh air intake when needed, even if the HVAC blower is not running.
The Aprilaire Ventilation Control System complements tight construction, regulatory standards, and consumer demand for comfort, energy savings, and indoor air quality, offering significant market potential for builders.
One system designed to fit different types of homes
The system features two adjustable settings: cycle time and ventilation time within the cycle. This flexibility allows customization to meet the ventilation requirements of any home size.
Graph Description: A graph titled "CFM Required vs. Ventilation Time (minutes)" illustrates ventilation control. The X-axis represents Ventilation Time (minutes) from 0 to 40, and the Y-axis represents CFM Required from 0 to 50. Two lines are shown: "1-hour cycle" and "2-hour cycle". The text explains that with a 120 CFM intake and a 30 CFM requirement, the controller can be set for 15 minutes of ventilation in a 1-hour cycle or 30 minutes in a 2-hour cycle, allowing for proper CFM maintenance based on system needs or homeowner preference.
Ventilates only when necessary
The Aprilaire Model 8126 continuously monitors indoor relative humidity, outdoor temperature, and a user-adjusted timer setting to optimize ventilation.
- Indoor relative humidity is monitored to prevent high humidity conditions. The controller will not open the damper if it risks raising indoor humidity above 60%.
- Ventilation is also restricted if the outdoor air temperature is below 0°F or above 100°F, preventing the motorized damper from opening.
Chart Description: A chart illustrates ventilation control based on outdoor temperature and indoor relative humidity. The Y-axis shows Outdoor Temperature (Fahrenheit) from 0 to 100. The X-axis shows Indoor Relative Humidity, with zones marked at 55% and 60%. The chart displays three ventilation states: "No Ventilation Allowed" (below 0°F or above 100°F outdoor temp, or above 60% indoor RH), "Ventilation Based on Time" (between 0°F and 100°F outdoor temp, and between 55% and 60% indoor RH), and "Ventilation with Heat Call Only" (below 55% indoor RH, and between 0°F and 100°F outdoor temp).
