Instructions for Use

Before First Use

Before connecting to the mains power supply, wipe the exterior surface of the iron with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

To remove any impurities that may have occurred during the manufacturing process, test the iron on an old piece of cloth, making sure that it is on the highest temperature setting suitable for the material.

  1. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply, place the iron onto the cloth and then press the steam burst button.
  2. Repeat this 2-3 times, waiting approx. 5 seconds in-between; this will remove any impurities from the ceramic soleplate.

Note: When using the iron for the first time, a slight odour and a small amount of smoke may be emitted. This is normal and will soon subside. Allow for sufficient ventilation around the iron when it is in use.

Do not immerse the iron in water or any other liquid.

Filling the Water Tank

  1. Switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply.
  2. Check that the steam control dial is set to the off position.
  3. Set down the iron onto the heel rest and open the water tank cap.
  4. Fill the measuring jug with water. Carefully pour the contents of the measuring jug into the water tank. Do not fill the water past the max. fill mark.
  5. Close the water tank cap.

Caution: Do not fill the water tank past the max. fill mark; it is best to check the water level when the iron is on the heel rest.

Warning: Never add descaling, aromatic, alcoholic or detergent products to the water tank, as this could cause damage to the iron or injury to the user.

Ironing with Steam

The steam settings are ideal for removing creases from fabrics such as cotton and linen with ease.

  1. Fill the water tank following the instructions in the section entitled 'Filling the Water Tank'.
  2. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply.
  3. Rotate the temperature control dial until the desired heat setting is reached. The temperature indicator light will illuminate to signal that the iron is heating up; this will switch off once the iron is ready to use.
  4. Select the desired steam setting by rotating the steam control dial. The steam setting can be switched off at any time by rotating the steam control dial to the off position.
  5. After use, rotate the temperature control dial to the 'Min.' position and then switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply. Allow to cool thoroughly.

Note: The iron will only produce steam when the temperature control dial is set to the 3-dot heat setting. Allow the iron to reach the desired heat setting before use; not doing so may cause water to drip from the soleplate. The temperature indicator light will cycle on and off during normal use as the iron maintains the selected temperature.

Warning: Never leave the ceramic soleplate resting on fabric for any longer than 15 seconds.

Ironing without Steam

For removing creases from more sensitive fabrics, iron without steam.

  1. Rotate the steam control dial to the 'Off' position.
  2. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply.
  3. Rotate the temperature control dial until the desired heat setting is selected. The temperature indicator light will illuminate to signal that the iron is heating up; this will switch off once the iron is ready to use.
  4. Test the iron on a small area of the fabric to check that the selected temperature is suitable; adjust if necessary.
  5. After use, rotate the temperature control dial to the 'Min.' position. Switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply and allow to cool thoroughly.

Steam Burst Function

For creases that are stubborn and difficult to remove, use the steam control dial to select the desired steam setting; if necessary, press the steam burst button for extra steam. Wait approx. 5 seconds in-between each burst to prevent any water leaking out from the steam holes.

Note: The iron will only produce steam when the temperature control dial is set to the 3-dot heat setting.

Vertical Steam Ironing

The steam burst button can also be used to vertically steam curtains and other hanging garments.

  1. Hang up the item to be vertically steamed.
  2. Rotate the steam control dial to the 'Off' position.
  3. Fill the water tank following the instructions in the section entitled 'Filling the Water Tank'.
  4. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply.
  5. Rotate the temperature control dial until the 3-dot heat setting is selected; the higher the temperature, the more powerful the steam.
  6. Hold the iron approx. 15 cm away from the item and press the steam burst button to remove any creases, waiting approx. 5 seconds in-between each burst.

Water Spray Function

The water spray function can be used to help to remove stubborn creases on heavier fabrics. It can also be used when dry ironing delicate fabrics that cannot be steam ironed. To use the water spray function, hold the iron over the area to be ironed and then press the water spray button.

Note: The water spray function will not work if the water tank is empty. When using the water spray function for the first time, it may be necessary to press the water spray button several times.

Anti-Calcium Feature

The iron has a built-in anti-calc filter located in the water tank to prevent calcium and limescale build-up. Calcium build-up, which is prominent in areas with hard water, can hinder performance and lower the lifespan of the iron. This is an automatic feature that is permanently activated.

Note: The filter is built in and does not need replacing.

Self-clean Function

The self-clean function removes limescale and impurities from within the ceramic soleplate. It is recommended to use this function on a fortnightly basis or more often if the iron is used in a hard water area.

  1. Switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply.
  2. Rotate the steam control dial to the off position.
  3. Set down the iron onto the heel rest.
  4. Fill the water tank following the instructions in the section entitled 'Filling the Water Tank'.
  5. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply.
  6. Set the temperature control dial to the highest heat setting and allow the iron to heat up until the temperature indicator light switches off.
  7. Switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply.
  8. Carefully hold the iron over a sink, making sure that the power supply cord and plug are kept away from the ceramic soleplate and remain dry.
  9. Press and hold the self-clean button. Hot water and steam will expel from the steam holes along with any impurities.
  10. After approx. 1 minute or when the water tank is completely empty, release the self-clean button.
  11. Set down the iron onto the heel rest and allow to cool thoroughly.
  12. When the iron has sufficiently cooled, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.
  13. Plug in and switch on the iron at the mains power supply.
  14. Set the temperature control dial to the highest heat setting.
  15. Once the temperature indicator light has switched off, use the iron on an old piece of fabric to remove any excess water and impurity build-up from in the steam holes.

Note: Water may be ejected from the steam holes whilst the iron is heating up.

Caution: Never press the self-clean button when using the iron; only press it when the iron is switched off and unplugged from the mains power supply and is safely held over a sink. When the iron is self-cleaning lots of hot steam will be released from the steam holes of the iron.

Hints and Tips

Always start ironing on a low heat setting and work up to a higher one, if necessary; it takes less time for the iron to heat up than it does to cool down.

The temperature of the iron is the hottest when it has initially heated up and will therefore need time to stabilise. Once the iron has heated up, allow the temperature indicator light to cycle off and on again before using the iron.

Troubleshooting

Warning: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury, switch off and unplug the iron from the mains power supply before troubleshooting.
