Installation Regulations

The module is designed for vertical installation on a DIN 46277 rail. Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid obstructing ventilation slots. Do not mount over heat-generating equipment. Installation in the bottom part of the electrical panel is recommended.

CAUTION: These are open-type devices requiring installation in a casing/panel for mechanical and fire protection.

ModBUS Connection Rules

  1. Install modules on the DIN rail (max 120).
  2. Connect remote modules with appropriate cable length.

Cable Length Data:

For maximum performance, use special shielded cables designed for data communication.

Connector IDC10

Power supply and Modbus interface are available via the Seneca DIN rail bus (IDC10 rear connector) or Z-PC-DINAL-17.5 accessory. The illustration shows the pinout for direct signal routing.

USB Port (Z-4DI-2AI-2DO)

The module exchanges data via the MODBUS protocol using a micro USB connector on the front panel. Configuration is done via applications/software. The USB serial port parameters are: 115200, 8, N, 1. The USB port behaves like serial ports, except for communication parameters. Visit page 1 for more information.

Factory IP Address and DIP-Switches

The default module IP address is static: 192.168.90.101.

WARNING: DIP-switch settings are read at boot time. A restart is required after any change.

SW2 DIP-SWITCH Settings:

ATTENTION: DIP3 and DIP4 (if present) must remain OFF. Incorrect settings will prevent operation.

RS232/RS485 Setting:

Configuration on terminals 10-11-12 (serial port 2):

Web Server

Access the maintenance Web Server at 192.168.90.101.

CAUTION: Do not use devices with the same IP address in the same Ethernet network.

Electrical Connections

Attention: Do not exceed upper power supply limits to avoid module damage.

To meet electromagnetic immunity requirements:

Power Supply

The power supply connects to terminals 2 and 3. Supply voltage must be between 11-40Vdc (indifferent polarity) or 19-28Vac. Auxiliary voltage: +12Vdc at 30mA. Protect the power supply source with a suitably sized fuse.

Analogue Inputs

The module has two analogue inputs configurable as voltage or current via software. See user manual for configuration details.

Digital Inputs (only ZE-4DI-2AI-2DO and Z-4DI-2AI-2DO)

Diagrams show NPN INPUT, PNP INPUT, and WITH EXTERNAL POWER configurations.

Digital Outputs (only ZE-4DI-2AI-2DO and Z4DI-2AI-2DO)

The module has two digital outputs with free contacts (SPDT relays). Diagrams show internal relay contacts.

COM2 Serial Port

The module has a COM2 serial port configurable via the SW2 switch on terminals 10-11-12.
