Video Recording Indicator

Note: During normal recording, the clock is displayed; during emergency recording, the duration of the locked video segment is displayed.

6. Getting Started

The camera automatically turns on and starts recording when it receives power. It then saves the video recording and automatically turns off when the car is turned off.

1. Automatic Power On/Off:

Connect the car charger to the cigarette lighter socket. When the car engine is turned on, the dash cam will turn on and start recording automatically. When the key is turned to the LOCK position, the dash cam automatically saves the recording and turns off.

2. Manual Power On/Off:

Notes:

  1. A U3-type microSD card (not included) is required for this dash cam. Before first use, be sure to format the microSD card using the dash cam.
  2. ALWAYS connect to a power source during use. It has a built-in supercapacitor (only a 1mAh lithium-metal battery is used for time memory).
  3. The dash cam will automatically update its time when connected to the LINGDU app on your phone via Wi-Fi.
  4. In some trucks/cars, the 12V cigarette lighter is always HOT, meaning it provides constant power even when the car is off and locked. If this applies to your car, the automatic ON/OFF function will not work. If you leave the camera continuously recording when the car is off, it will drain your car/truck battery, and you may not have enough power to start the car next time. To fix this, you can do one of two things:
① Connect the dash cam to the car's fuse box using a 3-wire hardwire kit for automatic startup.
② Change the connection in the fuse box for your 12V socket to a socket that only supplies power when the car key is turned to ACC or ON.

7. Installation

Install the front camera behind the rearview mirror. Before installation, remove foreign objects, clean and dry the windshield.

Diagram showing the dash cam mounted behind a rearview mirror, with an arrow indicating the lens can be rotated.

  1. Turn off the engine, gently insert the card into the slot until it clicks into place. (Please use a high-speed micro-SD U3 class 10 or higher card)
  2. Find a suitable location on the windshield that will not obstruct the driver, and remove foreign objects, then clean and dry the windshield before installation. Remove the protective layer of the electrostatic sticker and attach the electrostatic sticker to the windshield to prevent stains/glue on the windshield after removal.
  3. Remove the protective film from the double-sided tape and attach the front camera to the electrostatic sticker. Adjust the lens angle by rotating the front camera body.
  4. Connect the cigarette lighter power cable to the cigarette lighter socket and the front camera. Use the pry tool to lift the edges of the windshield trim and tuck in the power cord.

  2. After connecting to the LINGDU app, it will automatically update the date/time.
  3. LINGDU is available for Android 5.0 and above or iOS 9.0 and above devices.

What is WiFi function?

The WiFi function was designed so you can wirelessly connect the dash cam to your smartphone and instantly access dash cam recordings. Here you can easily view, download, and share videos with friends and family. Similar to how you connect a Bluetooth speaker to your smartphone for wireless music playback, the dash cam uses a WiFi signal (not Bluetooth) to connect your smartphone to the LINGDU D500.

Can I remotely view video from my car?

NO. The LINGDU D500 dash cam is NOT designed for cloud or internet video streaming. It is NOT a cloud or IP camera, and it is NOT intended for that. You can get real-time video and frames in the LINGDU dash cam app if you are within 3 meters (10 feet) of the dash cam.

What is WiFi range?

The WiFi signal range is about 3 meters (10 feet) without obstacles in between. Please note that just like your home WiFi network, you don't have a WiFi signal outside your house, similarly, the WiFi range is 3 meters (10 feet) from this small device.

For Android Phones:

Smartphone screenshots showing Android Wi-Fi settings and pop-up messages related to internet connectivity.

When installing the LINGDU app, two pop-up windows will appear: select "While using the app" to allow LINGDU to access the device's location, and select "Allow" to allow LINGDU to access photos and media files on your device. There is one additional step you will need to do for the first time. After connecting to the D500 dash cam's Wi-Fi, a "No Internet" message will appear. This is normal. Wait approximately 10-15 seconds until you see the pop-up window or notification shown below. You just need to click on the pop-up notification that appears after a few seconds to choose that you still want to stay connected, even if there is no Internet. After you select "OK", you will be ready to go.

For iPhone:

If you receive this pop-up window for your iPhone when using the WiFi function, make sure you click "Keep Trying Wi-Fi". Otherwise, the camera will disconnect from WiFi, and you will have to forget LINGDU WiFi and then start pairing again for the camera to work again.
