RC-SDA™ & RC4-E4PTM HDMI Matrix + Poly EagleEye IV Design Guide
This document provides a design guide for integrating Sound Control Technologies (SCT) products, specifically the RC-SDA™ and RC4-E4P™ system components, with Poly EagleEye IV cameras. It details how to set up an HDMI matrix switching system for enhanced video distribution and control.
System Architecture Overview
The system is designed around a central HDMI Matrix Switcher that routes video signals from multiple sources. Sound Control Technologies' RC-SDA™ distribution amplifier serves as a key component, receiving signals from the switcher and directly from cameras. The RC-SDA™ then distributes these signals to RC4-HE™ (Head End) and RC4-CE™ (Camera End) units via SCTLink™ single-cable digital links, enabling efficient camera integration with Poly EagleEye IV devices.
Core Components and Connectivity
HDMI Matrix Switcher
The HDMI Matrix Switcher is the central routing hub. It accepts input from a "3rd Party HDMI Video Device" and receives the main video distribution feed from the RC-SDA™ unit. It is also associated with Poly G7500 and RPG700/500/300 codecs, though direct connections are not explicitly detailed in the diagram for these.
RC-SDA™ Distribution Amplifier
The RC-SDA™ unit acts as a primary distribution and control interface. It receives video signals from the HDMI Matrix Switcher and can also accept direct camera inputs via an HDCI Y cable. It manages the distribution to the RC4-HE™ and RC4-CE™ units using SCTLink™ cables.
- Primary Input: Output from the HDMI Matrix Switcher.
- Direct Camera Input: Via RCC-H030-1.0M HDCI Y Cable (to HDMI/9 Pin).
- Distribution Outputs: SCTLink™ cables connecting to RC4-HE™ and RC4-CE™ units.
- Control: Connects to a "Required 3rd Party RS232 Controller" via its Control/IR port.
- Power: Supplied by a WPS-12 30VDC (100-240V 47-63Hz) Power Supply.
RC4-HE™ Head End
The RC4-HE™ unit is part of the single-cable digital link system, receiving signals from the RC-SDA™.
- Input: SCTLink™ cable from RC-SDA™.
- Power: Supplied by a WPS-12 30VDC (100-240V 47-63Hz) Power Supply.
RC4-CE™ Camera End
The RC4-CE™ unit interfaces directly with the Poly EagleEye IV camera and connects to the RC-SDA™ for signal transmission over the single-cable digital link.
- Camera Connection: Via RCC-C030-0.4M Mini-HDCI Y Cable (to RJ45/HDMI) to the Poly EagleEye IV camera.
- System Connection: SCTLink™ cable to RC-SDA™.
- Power: Supplied by a WPS-12 30VDC (100-240V 47-63Hz) Power Supply.
Cabling and Power
- RCC-H030-1.0M HDCI Y Cable: Connects cameras directly to the RC-SDA™. This cable is included in the RC4-E4PTM Kit.
- RCC-C030-0.4M Mini-HDCI Y Cable: Connects Poly EagleEye IV cameras to the RC4-CE™ Camera End units.
- SCTLink™ Cables: Used for digital signal transmission between RC-SDA™, RC4-HE™, and RC4-CE™ units. These are integrator-supplied.
- WPS-12 30VDC Power Supply: A universal power supply (100-240V, 47-63Hz) used for all SCT distribution and interface units (RC-SDA™, RC4-HE™, RC4-CE™).
Important Considerations
Remote Camera Power Control: In situations where camera communication is lost, a reboot of the camera might be necessary. An alternative approach involves implementing third-party control code designed to periodically poll the camera for its status, potentially managing its power state.
System Integration: Proper installation and configuration of SCTLink™ cables and the 3rd Party RS232 Controller are essential for optimal system performance.
