HP Smart Tank 530 Series Setup Guide

Step 1: Printer Setup

Follow the on-screen prompts on the printer display to complete the initial setup. This may include language selection.

Instructions:

• Unpack the printer and remove all protective materials.
• Open the scanner lid.
• Open the ink tank area cover.
• Connect the power cord and turn on the printer.
• Follow the printer's display instructions for initial setup, including language selection (English, Spanish, Portuguese options shown).

Step 2: Fill Ink Tanks

Fill the ink tanks using the provided ink bottles. Ensure you use the correct color for each tank.

Instructions:

• Remove the ink bottle cap.
• Unscrew the tip of the ink bottle.
• Insert the bottle tip into the corresponding colored ink tank.
• Fill the ink tanks by squeezing the bottle.
• Close the ink tank caps securely.
• Repeat for all ink colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black).

Step 3: Install Printheads

Install the printheads into the printer carriage.

Instructions:

• Open the printer doors.
• Wait for the carriage to move to the center and stop.
• Turn the orange handle to release the carriage.
• Press down on the blue latch to open the printhead area.
• Remove and discard the orange plastic shipping piece. Handle carefully to avoid ink stains.
• Install the printheads by inserting them into their respective slots.
• Close the blue latch and the printer doors.

Step 4: Load Paper

Load paper into the input tray.

Instructions:

• Slide out the paper tray.
• Load paper into the tray, ensuring it is aligned correctly.
• Slide the paper tray back into the printer.

Step 5: Align Printheads

Align the printheads by printing and scanning an alignment page.

Instructions:

• The printer will print an alignment page.
• Scan the printed alignment page by following the on-screen instructions. Place the page in the scanner bed as indicated.

Step 6: Install HP Smart Software

Install the HP Smart software on your computer or mobile device.

Instructions:

• Download the HP Smart software from 123.hp.com or your device's app store.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to install and set up the software.

Important Notes

• After setup, do not open the blue latch unless instructed to do so.
• If moving the printer with ink tanks filled, refer to the "Moving printer?" guide to prevent ink leakage or damage.
• When unpacking the printer for the first time, retain the packing materials for repacking.
