A complete channel storage includes RX frequency, TX, CTCSS, DCS, RF power, bandwidth, PTT-ID, BCL, ANI, adding scan, channel name, etc. Except for adding scan and channel name, other settings can be created via the keypad in VFO mode.
Example: We want to program all data into CH106, please proceed as follows:
Value | |
---|---|
RX Frequency | 440.625MHz |
TX Frequency | 430.625MHz |
RX CTCSS | 100.0Hz |
TX DCS | 250.3Hz |
RF Power | High |
Bandwidth | Wide |
PTT-ID | Off |
- We need to check if there is any data in CH106. Go to MENU 28. Is there a 'CH' before '106'? This means the data is available. So please delete it, and you will find there is no 'CH' before '106', otherwise you cannot have new data in the channel.
- Press and hold the [MENU] key, then power on, to VFO mode. Press the [EXIT/AB] key to select Frequency A (top).
- Enter 440.625MHz.
- Now through the menu, you can set other parameters: CTCSS, DCS, RF Power, Bandwidth, etc.
- After you have set all settings, press the [MENU] key, go to MENU 27, press the [MENU] key twice, you will know that all data has been saved in CH106. But now only RX frequency was saved. At the same time, press the [MENU] key twice for others.
⚠ Caution: If you want to save TX frequency 430.625 in CH106, you must also follow the same steps after saving RX frequency in CH106.
9. CTCSS/DCS Scanning:
Before setting CTCSS/DCS SCANNING, you must have an RX frequency and disable the Dual Standby function to ensure the radio is working in VFO mode. Go to Menu 11, press [MENU] once, then press [*/SCAN] key. At the same time, you must press the PTT of another radio, then you can see that the CTCSS scans automatically. When scanning is complete, meaning you have found the same CTCSS as another radio, now press [MENU] to save the CTCSS.
10. Repeater Tail Tone:
We all know that repeaters receive on one frequency and transmit the same information on a different frequency. We always hear the polite tone when we use repeaters. It's a harmless beep that lets us know the repeater is still working. Most importantly, we heard its tone. MENUS 35, 36, 37 are very helpful for setting if your radio works with repeaters. MENU 35 and MENU 36 are better for disabling initiation. The parameter of MENU 37 is from 1-10, better for 5 setting.
Sound-Light Alarm / Cancel the alarm
There are 3 alarm modes in this radio: Alarm, Sending alarm code, sending the background sound. Press [SOS] alarm function, the radio will sound the alarm, and the light will flash. Press [SOS] again to stop the alarm.
When the radio is in emergency alarm, only [PTT] and SOS key are functional. Press [PTT] to transmit. When the radio receives the transmission, the alarm will also stop.
11. CTCSS/DCS:
If you only want to transmit to a specific group of people, on a specific frequency or channel, you need this function. The squelch will only start if the frequency matches the specific "CTCSS" or "DCS" codes programmed in the device. If the received frequency differs, the squelch will not activate. You will then hear the received signal without this.
⚠ Caution: The use of "CTCSS" or "DCS" in a conversation does not guarantee encrypted communication.
