About This Manual
This document provides operating instructions and warranty information for the Casio G-Shock G-8900 watch.
International Warranty
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. provides an international warranty for Casio G-Shock watches. The international warranty card included with your watch is valid for free repair by members of the CASIO international warranty network outside of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. For service within these countries, a regional warranty certificate is used. The warranty is valid for one year from the date of purchase for defects arising from normal use. It does not cover damage from improper handling, fire, natural disasters, unauthorized repairs, normal wear and tear of the case/band/battery, or failure to present proof of purchase. Loss or damage to the watch or its data is not the responsibility of CASIO or its service network. This warranty is the sole express or implied basis for warranty service outside Russia and Ukraine and is provided only to the original purchaser.
A list of international CASIO G-SHOCK service network members is provided in the original document, detailing country, name, and telephone number.
Water Resistance
Watches are classified by water resistance levels (I to V) according to ISO 2281. Check your watch's rating to determine its suitability for use:
Level | Case Marking | Splash, Rain & Washing | Swimming, Washing Machine | Diving | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | No | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes: Level I watches are not water-resistant. Avoid any contact with moisture.
Details:
- Level II (Water Resistant) indicates water resistance according to ISO 2281; brief contact with water is not problematic.
- Level III (5 Bar/50 meters) watches can withstand the specified water pressure and are suitable for showering and brief swimming.
- Level IV (10 Bar/100 meters) watches are suitable for normal swimming and snorkeling.
- Level V (20 Bar/200 meters) watches are suitable for diving (excluding depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).
Care and Maintenance
General Care
- Do not attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.
- The gasket that prevents water and dust ingress should be replaced every 2-3 years.
- If moisture enters the watch, have it checked immediately by a dealer or CASIO distributor.
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures.
- Wear the watch carefully to avoid drops, even though it is designed for active daily use.
- Do not fasten the band too tightly; ensure a finger can fit between your wrist and the band.
- Clean the watch and band with a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth dampened with a mild neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile solvents like gasoline, thinners, or spray cleaners.
- Store the watch in a dry place when not in use.
- Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosol sprays, adhesives, paints, etc., as chemical reactions can damage gaskets, cases, and polish.
- Be cautious when cleaning bands with screen-printed graphics to avoid damaging the designs.
- For plastic bands, white powdery residue may appear, which is harmless and can be wiped off. Moisture or sweat on plastic bands, or storage in high humidity, can cause damage. Wipe them clean with a soft cloth when possible.
- For watches with fluorescent cases and bands, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture can cause the fluorescent color to fade. Wipe off any moisture promptly.
- Strong friction on fluorescent surfaces can transfer the color.
- Condensation may form on the inside of the glass in conditions of rapid temperature change; this is a normal physical phenomenon and not a defect.
- CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur during use.
