Thank you for purchasing a Koppel air conditioner. Please read this manual carefully before operating your new air conditioning unit. Save this manual for future reference.

NOTE: For models of RG51Y5/E and RG51Y6/E, if the unit is turned off under COOL, AUTO or DRY mode with the set temperature less than 24°C, the set temperature will be automatically set to 24°C when you turn on the unit again. If the unit is turned off under HEAT mode with the set temperature more than 24°C, the set temperature will be automatically set to 24°C when you turn on the unit again.

Quick Start Guide

  1. FIT BATTERIES: Slide the back cover downward, expose the battery compartment, insert batteries matching (+) and (-) ends, then slide the cover back.
  2. SELECT MODE: Press the MODE button to cycle through AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN modes.
  3. SELECT TEMPERATURE: Use the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ buttons to set the desired temperature.
  4. SELECT FAN SPEED: Press the FAN SPEED button to cycle through AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH.
  5. POINT REMOTE TOWARD UNIT: Ensure the remote is directed at the air conditioner unit.
  6. PRESS POWER BUTTON: Press the ON/OFF button to turn the unit on or off.

Handling the Remote Controller

Inserting and Replacing Batteries

Your air conditioning unit may come with two batteries. Insert the batteries into the remote control before use.

  1. Slide the back cover from the remote control downward, exposing the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the batteries, paying attention to match up the (+) and (-) ends of the batteries with the symbols inside the battery compartment.
  3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

BATTERY NOTES

For optimum product performance:

BATTERY DISPOSAL

Do not dispose of batteries as unsorted municipal waste. Refer to local laws for proper disposal of batteries.

CAUTIONS FOR USING REMOTE CONTROL

The device complies with local national regulations.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

Buttons and Functions

Before using your air conditioner, familiarize yourself with its remote control. The following is a brief introduction to the remote control. For instructions on how to operate your air conditioner, refer to the "How to Use Basic Functions" section.

Note: All indicators shown are for presentation purposes. During actual operation, only relative function signs are shown on the display window.

How to Use Basic Functions

Basic operation: ATTENTION! Before operation, ensure the unit is plugged in and power is available.

SETTING TEMPERATURE

The operating temperature range for units is 17-30°C (62-86°F)/20-28°C. You can increase or decrease the set temperature in 1°C (1°F) increments.

AUTO Mode

In AUTO mode, the unit automatically selects COOL, FAN, or HEAT operation based on the set temperature.

  1. Press the MODE button to select AUTO.
  2. Set your desired temperature using the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ button.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to start the unit.

NOTE: FAN SPEED cannot be set in AUTO mode.

COOL Mode

  1. Press the MODE button to select COOL mode.
  2. Set your desired temperature using the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ button.
  3. Press the FAN button to select the fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED or HIGH.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button to start the unit.

DRY Mode (dehumidifying)

  1. Press the MODE button to select DRY.
  2. Set your desired temperature using the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ button.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to start the unit.

NOTE: FAN SPEED cannot be changed in DRY mode.

FAN Mode

  1. Press the MODE button to select FAN mode.
  2. Press the FAN button to select the fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED or HIGH.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to start the unit.

NOTE: You cannot set temperature in FAN mode. As a result, your remote control's LCD screen will not display temperature.

HEAT Mode

  1. Press the MODE button to select HEAT mode.
  2. Set your desired temperature using the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ button.
  3. Press the FAN button to select the fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED or HIGH.
  4. Press the ON/OFF button to start the unit.

NOTE: As outdoor temperature drops, the performance of your unit's HEAT function may be affected. In such instances, it is recommended to use this air conditioner in conjunction with other heating appliances.

Setting the TIMER

TIMER ON/OFF - Set the amount of time after which the unit will automatically turn on/off.

TIMER ON setting

  1. Press the TIMER ON button to initiate the ON time sequence.
  2. Press the Temp. up or down button multiple times to set the desired time to turn on the unit.
  3. Point the remote to the unit and wait 1 second; the TIMER ON will be activated.

TIMER OFF setting

  1. Press the TIMER OFF button to initiate the OFF time sequence.
  2. Press the Temp. up or down button multiple times to set the desired time to turn off the unit.
  3. Point the remote to the unit and wait 1 second; the TIMER OFF will be activated.

NOTE:

  1. When setting the TIMER ON or TIMER OFF, the time increases by 30-minute increments up to 10 hours. After 10 hours and up to 24, it increases in 1-hour increments. (e.g., press 5 times for 2.5h, press 10 times for 5h). The timer reverts to 0.0 after 24 hours.
  2. Cancel either function by setting its timer to 0.0h.

TIMER ON & OFF setting (example)

Keep in mind that the time periods you set for both functions refer to hours after the current time.

Example: If the current time is 1:00 PM, to set the timer as above steps, the unit will turn on 2.5 hours later (3:30 PM) and turn off at 6:00 PM.

How to Use Advanced Functions

Swing function

Airflow direction

Each time you press the button, it adjusts the louver by 6 degrees. Press until the desired direction is reached.

LED DISPLAY

ECO function

Press this button under COOL Mode to enter the energy-efficient mode. (For models of RG51A/E, RG51A(1)/EU1, RG51A/CE, RG51A10/E, RG51Y5/E). Note: This function is only available under COOL mode.

Under cooling mode, pressing this button adjusts the temperature automatically to 24°C/75°F and fan speed to Auto to save energy (only when the set temperature is less than 24°C/75°F). If the set temperature is above 24°C/75°F, the fan speed changes to Auto, and the set temperature remains unchanged.

NOTE:

SHORTCUT function

Used to restore current or previous settings. (For models of RG51B/E, RG51B(1)/EU1, RG51B/CE, RG51B10/E, RG51Y6/E)

SLEEP function

The SLEEP function decreases energy use while you sleep, as you do not need the same temperature settings for comfort. This function can only be activated via remote control. The sleep function is not available in Fan or Dry mode. Please refer to the OWNER'S MANUAL for more details.

Silence function

Keep pressing the Fan button for more than 2 seconds to activate/disable Silence function (some units).

Due to low frequency operation of the compressor, it may result in insufficient cooling and heating capacity. Pressing ON/OFF, Mode, Sleep, Turbo, or Clean button while operating will cancel the silence function.

FP function

Press this button 2 times within one second under HEAT Mode and setting temperature of 17°C/62°F or 20°C (for models of RG51A10/E & RG51B10/E) to activate the FP function. The unit will operate at high fan speed (while compressor is on) with the temperature automatically set to 8°C/46°F.

Note: This function is for heat pump air conditioners only.

Press this button 2 times within one second under HEAT Mode and setting temperature of 17°C/62°F or 20°C (for models of RG51A10/E and RG51B10/E) to activate the FP function. Press On/Off, Sleep, Mode, Fan, and Temp. buttons while operating will cancel this function.

Temperature display

Press together the ▲ and ▼ buttons at the same time for 3 seconds to alternate the temperature display between °C and °F (Applicable for models of RG51A(1)/EU1 and RG51B(1)/EU1 only).
