Grundfos Submersible Borehole Pumps for Efficient Groundwater Extraction
Grundfos SQ submersible borehole pumps are designed for efficient groundwater extraction in domestic and holiday homes. The SQ pump is also suitable for open wells and can be installed horizontally. The SQE model features an integrated frequency converter, enabling the pump to be used in constant pressure applications. All SQ and SQE pumps are equipped with dry-running protection, soft start, and a non-return valve.
Key Features and Benefits
- Compact Size: The SQ pump has a diameter of only 74 mm / 3", making it suitable for even old wells with sediment buildup.
- Constant Pressure (SQE Models): With speed control, SQE models are ideal for constant pressure systems, ensuring consistent water flow at the same pressure, even when multiple taps are open simultaneously.
- Versatile: Suitable for most new and old boreholes, with a maximum head of up to 200 m.
- Energy Efficient: The high efficiency of the pump and motor ensures low power consumption.
- Fully Serviceable: All parts of the SQ pump are designed for easy servicing.
SQE Constant Pressure Solution
The Grundfos SQE model features an integrated frequency converter, making the SQE pump the ideal choice for producing constant pressure from a borehole. The SQE constant pressure solution includes everything needed for an easy and trouble-free constant pressure system:
- SQE pump
- Pressure sensor
- 5-way manifold
- Pressure tank
- Power cable
- CU301 control box
SQ Pump - In Detail
- Compact and Powerful: Diameter of only 74 mm / 3" fits easily into old boreholes with sediment.
- Durable: The entire pump is made of high-grade stainless steel.
- Built-in Dry-Running Protection: Protects the pump from damage if the well runs dry. For frequently dry wells, an external dry-running protection should be used.
- Automatic Restart: After a fault, the pump automatically restarts if the fault condition is resolved.
- Overvoltage Protection: Protects against voltage spikes and unstable voltage, e.g., when used with a generator.
- Soft Start: Reduces wear on the motor and prevents starting surges in the electrical system or water hammer in the pipework.
- Overheat Protection: Reduces the risk of damage due to overheating.
- Permanent Magnet Motor: Modern motor technology ensures the best possible energy efficiency.
- Speed Control (SQE): The integrated frequency converter in SQE models allows the pump's speed to be adjusted as needed – the pump runs slower when less water or lower pressure is required.
- Remote Control (SQE): By connecting the SQE pump to the CU301 control box, it can be remotely controlled via the Grundfos GO Remote app.
Complete Pump System for Demanding Applications
Grundfos SP submersible borehole pumps are used worldwide in applications such as irrigation systems for farms and municipal water supply, but SP is also suitable for many other applications and special cases. A complete SP system includes the SP pump, MS/MMS motor, motor protection, frequency converter, and remote monitoring.
- Reliable: Material is 100% stainless steel for internal and external parts, with excellent resistance to sandy water.
- High Efficiency: Superior pump hydraulics and motors specifically designed for SP pumps ensure the best efficiency.
- Low Life Cycle Costs: The energy-efficient and easily serviceable pump keeps costs low throughout its entire life cycle.
- Perfect Motor Match: MS motors and rewound MMS motors are designed specifically for SP pumps, ensuring perfect compatibility and optimal efficiency.
- Wide Range: Available in 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12-inch sizes, with a maximum flow rate of 470 m³/h and a maximum head of 670 m.
Enhance Your System's Performance
- MP 204: Protect your SP system with the reliable, easy-to-install, and user-friendly MP 204 motor protection, which can also be used with the Tempcon temperature sensor.
- CUE: Save costs and operate your pump only at the required speed with the Grundfos CUE frequency converter. CUE also adds soft start functionality, reducing wear on the pump motor and maintenance needs.
- Grundfos Remote Management: Simplify your operations with an internet-based remote monitoring system. Typical applications for the Grundfos Remote Management service include municipal and water cooperative booster stations and water intake facilities.
SP Pump - In Detail
- Improved Connection: Easier and safer pipe connection.
- Cable Protection: Improved fastening with an easy-to-screw-on guard.
- Built-in Non-Return Valve: All SP pumps are delivered with a non-return valve, which reduces the risk of water hammer.
- Corrosion-Resistant Design: The SP pump is made of AISI 304 stainless steel. Special materials are available for more demanding conditions.
- Wear Resistance: Reduced abrasive wear – the special design allows sand to be flushed out with the fluid, extending the service life in sandy conditions.
- Optimized Hydraulics: Improved efficiency and fewer faults.
- Low Failure Rate: Statistics collected since 1967 show that the number of warranty returns for SP pumps is close to zero.
- Replaceable Shaft Seal: The standard mechanical shaft seal is easy to replace. Sand-resistant SiC/SiC shaft seals are available for sandy or other demanding applications.
- Temperature Sensor (MS): MS motors are available with a Tempcon or Pt 100/1000 temperature sensor.
- Rewindable Motor (MMS): MMS motors can be rewound locally, saving money and time.
- Hot Water Versions: Available for temperatures up to 60 °C with MS motors and up to 50 °C with MMS motors.
Accessories
Even the best pump needs the right accessories to perform optimally.
Pressure Managers
Grundfos Pressure Manager pressure switches can control pump operation based on usage. The pressure switch connected to the pump starts and stops the pump automatically according to usage – essentially, the pump only runs when it is actually needed.
- PM1: Controls pump operation at a fixed pressure setting; 1.5 bar or 2.2 bar. Additional protection for the pump is provided by dry-running protection and vibration warning.
- PM2: The starting pressure for the PM2 model can be adjusted between 1.5-5 bar. The PM2 model also features a clear LED display and an internal pressure tank that prevents unnecessary starts and stops due to pipe leaks. Furthermore, the PM2 can be optimized for use with a large external pressure tank.
Pressure Tanks
Pressure tanks increase the pump's service life by reducing pump starts. Using a pressure tank also ensures a stable water supply, which increases user comfort.
Diaphragm pressure tanks are made of composite material (GT-C models) or powder-coated steel (GT-H models). The tanks feature an FDA-approved butyl diaphragm for drinking water applications. Tanks with a volume of over 80 liters are equipped with a replaceable bladder.
Grundfos recommends using a pressure tank in applications where water consumption is not continuous, e.g., in single-family homes and holiday cottages.
