Cockpit Overview
This section details the controls and displays located around the steering wheel and on the instrument panel.
Behind Steering Wheel
- Vehicle Information Display: Shows various vehicle data, warnings, and settings.
- Low Tire Pressure Warning Light: Illuminates when tire pressure is critically low.
- Headlight and Turn Signal Switch: Controls headlights and turn signals.
- Wiper and Washer Switch: Operates windshield wipers and washers.
- Vehicle Information Display / Audio Switches: Controls for the information display and audio system.
- Steering Wheel Switches: For Cruise Control, Bluetooth, Navigation, and ProPILOT Assist.
- Instrument Brightness Control: Adjusts the illumination of the instrument panel.
- Steering Assist Switch (models with ProPILOT Assist): Engages or disengages steering assistance.
- Liftgate Switch: Opens or closes the power liftgate.
- Head Up Display Switch: Controls the Head Up Display.

Getting Started
This section covers initial setup and basic operations.
Nissan Intelligent Key System
The Nissan Intelligent Key system allows for keyless entry, remote locking/unlocking, liftgate operation, and remote engine start. The key must be within proximity of the vehicle.
- Remote Engine Start: To start the engine remotely, press the lock button on the key, then press and hold the engine start button within 5 seconds. The engine runs for 10 minutes and can be extended for another 10 minutes. To drive, depress the brake pedal and press the ignition switch.
- Locking/Unlocking: To lock, push a door handle lock sensor or use the key button. Doors can also auto-lock at low speeds or when entering Drive. To unlock, wrap your hand around the driver's door handle or press the unlock button on the key.
- Liftgate Release: Press and hold the liftgate button on the key for over 1 second to open or close.
- Panic Alarm: Press and hold the panic button on the key for over 0.5 seconds to activate the alarm and headlights. Press any button on the key or the door lock sensor to deactivate.
- Intelligent Key Battery Discharge: If the key battery is low, place the key against the ignition switch while depressing the brake pedal and pressing the ignition switch to start the engine.
Front Power Seat Adjustments (if so equipped)
- Seat Slide: Push the switch forward or backward to move the seat.
- Seat Recline: Push the recline switch forward or backward to adjust the seatback angle.
- Seat Lifter (driver's seat): Push the front or back end of the switch up or down to adjust seat height.
- Power Lumbar Support (if so equipped): Push the front or back end of the switch to adjust lumbar support.
Memory Seat (if so equipped)
Stores up to two positions for the driver's seat, steering column, and outside mirrors. To set, adjust desired positions, push the SET switch, then push a memory switch (1 or 2) for at least 1 second. Positions can be linked to the Nissan Intelligent Key.
2nd Row Seats
- Sliding: Pull the center bar up and slide the seat forward or backward.
- Reclining: Pull the recline lever up and lean back to recline; pull the lever up and lean forward to bring the seatback forward.
- Child Seat Access Mode: Push the seat button to slide the seat forward for 3rd-row access with a child seat installed.
- Multi-Mode Access: Push the seat button release to move the seat forward for 3rd-row access. Exit the 3rd row by pressing the seat switch to slide forward.
3rd Row Seats
To fold flat, pull headrest straps to release headrests, then pull the seat lever to fold the seatback forward. Pull seat straps to lock seats in place.
Rear Door Alert
Alerts the driver if a rear door was opened and closed within 10 minutes of driving. An audible horn and a display warning appear. Can be set to OFF, Horn & Alert, or Alert Only via the vehicle information display settings.
Door Locks
All doors automatically lock when the vehicle speed reaches 15 mph (24 km/h). They unlock automatically when the transmission is placed in Park or the ignition is turned OFF, depending on settings.
Starting/Stopping the Engine
- Starting: Ensure the Nissan Intelligent Key is with you. Depress the brake pedal and press the ignition switch.
- Stopping: Push the P (Park) button, apply the parking brake, and push the ignition switch.
Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheel Adjustments
Pull down the lock lever, adjust the steering wheel up/down and forward/backward, then push the lock lever up firmly to secure.
Outside Mirror Control Switch
Push the left or right switch to select the driver or passenger mirror, then use the control switch to adjust. The reverse tilt-down feature automatically adjusts mirrors downward when in Reverse for better visibility.
Automatic Anti-Glare Rearview Mirror (if so equipped)
Automatically dims the mirror in low light conditions. Press the 'O' button to turn off, '|' button to turn on. The indicator light shows when active.
HomeLink Universal Transceiver (if so equipped)
Learns and consolidates up to three remote transmitter functions (e.g., garage doors). Program by holding the HomeLink button and transmitter button simultaneously until the indicator light flashes rapidly. Additional steps may be required for some devices.
Emergency Call (SOS) Button (if so equipped)
Requires a NissanConnect Services subscription. Press the SOS button on the overhead console to call for assistance in emergencies. Visit www.NissanUSA.com/connect or call 855-426-6628 for enrollment.
Heater and Air Conditioner (automatic)
- AUTO Button: System automatically controls temperature, airflow, and fan speed.
- Temperature Control Dials: Adjust temperature for driver and passenger sides.
- SYNC Button: Synchronizes driver and passenger temperature settings.
- ON/OFF Button: Turns the system on or off.
- Fan Speed Controls: Adjust fan speed.
- Rear ON/OFF Button: Controls the rear automatic air conditioning system from the front panel.
- REAR CTRL: Switches front display to control rear climate settings.
- Defrosting/Defogging: Press the front defroster button; AC automatically engages. Max settings for defrost.
- Air Recirculation: Recirculates interior air to avoid odors and improve efficiency.
- Mode Button: Cycles through air flow outlets (vents, foot, defroster).
- Rear Window and Outside Mirror Defroster: Defrosts rear window and mirrors. Turns off automatically after ~15 minutes.
Rear Climate Controls
Can be activated from the front row or directly from the 2nd row. Controls include ON/OFF, fan speed, temperature, AUTO, and Air Flow modes.
Headlight Control Switch
- Headlight Control: Turn to position for parking lights, position for headlights.
- Intelligent Auto Headlight System (if so equipped): Automatically turns headlights on/off based on ambient light. Can be deactivated by turning the switch to OFF or other positions.
- High Beam Select: Push forward for high beams (blue indicator illuminates), pull back for low beams.
- Flash High Beams: Pull and release the switch forward.
- Fog Light Switch (if so equipped): Turn on fog lights with headlights in position or AUTO. Turn off by switching to OFF. Fog lights turn off automatically with high beams.
- High Beam Assist: Activates high beams automatically based on lighting conditions.
- Lane Change Signal: Move lever up or down until signal flashes; lever does not latch. Release lever for three flashes.
Wiper and Washer Switch
- Front Wipers: INT (intermittent, speed adjustable via knob), LO (low speed), HI (high speed), Mist (one sweep).
- Front Washer: Pull lever for one sweep and washer fluid.
- Rear Wiper/Washer: Intermittent, LO speed, or push lever forward for rear washer.
- Rain-Sensing Auto Wiper System (if so equipped): Automatically adjusts wiper speed based on rainfall. Set sensitivity via knob (Low/High) in AUTO position. Turn off by rotating lever to OFF.
Sun Visors
Pull down to block glare from the front. Remove from center mount and swing to the side for side glare. Can slide out for extended coverage.
Vehicle Information Display
Displays vehicle settings, indicators, warnings, tire pressure, drive computer, cruise control, driving aids, ProPILOT Assist info, Nissan Intelligent Key status, audio, navigation, shift position, distance to empty, odometer, clock, outside temperature, and 4x4 status (if equipped). Modes changed using steering wheel buttons. Trip computer can be reset.
Settings Menu
Allows customization of VDC, ECO Mode, Maintenance, Driver Assistance, TPMS, Display, Personal Display, Clock, Unit/Language, Head-Up Display, and Vehicle Settings. Includes Factory Reset.
Changing Meter Screen View / Head Up Display (HUD)
For full-screen displays, the meter screen view can be changed. Use steering wheel controls to access the 'ShortCut Menu' and select 'Change Meter View'. HUD settings adjusted via steering wheel controls and the 'Settings' menu.
Outside Temperature Display
Shows outside temperature when ignition is ON. Displays a snowflake icon ❄️ below 37°F (3°C). Icon blinks at 39°F (4°C).
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy-Fill Tire Alert
Warns of low tire pressure. Check tires when cold. Easy-Fill Tire Alert provides audible and visual signals when adding air: hazard lights flash while adding air, horn beeps once when correct pressure is reached.
Towing Your Vehicle
- 2WD Model: Tow with front wheels off the ground or on a flatbed truck.
- 4WD Model: Tow with all wheels off the ground.
Power Liftgate (if so equipped)
Opens automatically by pressing the switch on the instrument panel, the liftgate opener switch (if unlocked or key present), or the key fob button for over 1 second. Liftgate height can be set by manually positioning it and holding the switch on the liftgate for ~5 seconds until two beeps are heard.
Motion-Activated Liftgate (if so equipped)
Hands-free operation: With Intelligent Key within 31.5 in (80 cm), perform a quick kicking motion under the rear bumper center. Vehicle beeps three times and liftgate opens after 2 seconds.
Power Moonroof (if so equipped)
Push switch to OPEN/CLOSE for automatic operation. Push again to stop. Push UP to tilt open. Auto-reverse function stops closing if an obstruction is detected.
Rear Door Sunshade (if so equipped)
Pull up the center tab to raise. Hook slots onto tabs on the window frame.
Capless Fuel Fill and Fuel-Filler Door
Fuel-filler door is on the driver's side. Insert fuel pump nozzle directly into the opening. For refueling from a portable container, use the stored funnel.
Jack/Tool Storage
Located under the luggage boards in the trunk storage area. Access the jack and toolkit by lifting the luggage floorboard and removing the rear floorboard.
Power Outlets
- 12V Outlets: Rated at 12V, 120W (10A) max. Instrument panel outlet is ON with ignition; cargo area outlet is always ON.
- 120V Outlet (if so equipped): Located on the back of the center console.
Audio, Navigation and Bluetooth Systems
System Updates
Software and map updates can be received over-the-air or via Wi-Fi. Options include 'Yes', 'Later', or 'No' for immediate or deferred updates. Manual updates can be initiated via the 'Info' menu. Wi-Fi connection requires a 2.4 GHz network.
Clock Set/Adjustment
Adjust time and clock display via the 'Settings' key, then 'Clock'.
USB Connection Port Interface
Located beneath climate controls. Connect compatible USB devices for audio playback or charging. If two devices are connected, the first plugged in plays audio, the second charges. Charge-only ports are located on the 2nd and 3rd rows.
Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System
Allows hands-free calling. Connect phone by saying 'Add Phone' and following prompts. Voice Recognition tips include reducing background noise and speaking naturally. Visit www.NissanUSA.com/bluetooth for compatibility.
- System Operating Tips: Press the button on the steering wheel to speak commands. Reduce noise, speak clearly. Say full names for contacts. Say 'Cancel' or 'Quit' to end a session.
- Connecting Procedure: Vehicle must be stationary. Say 'Add Phone'. Initiate connection from handset. Confirm PIN.
- Vehicle Phonebook: Access via Settings > Phone > Phonebook.
- Making a Call: Press Phone button, select option.
- Receiving/Ending a Call: Accept via steering wheel button, scroll/OK button, or Answer key. End/reject via steering wheel button, Decline key, or Hang Up key.
FM/AM/SiriusXM Radio
- Power/Volume: Press POWER to turn on/off. Turn VOL dial to adjust volume.
- Tune/Scroll: Turn TUNE/SCROLL dial to tune manually.
- Seek Buttons: Press seek buttons to find next/previous station or category.
- Audio Button: Store up to 12 FM, 6 AM, or 18 SiriusXM stations in presets by touching and holding station select keys (1-12).
Apple CarPlay
Connect compatible iPhone via USB or Bluetooth to use calls, music, messages, and apps on the vehicle display. Activate Siri by pressing and holding the steering wheel button or touching the screen icon. Exit by pressing the MENU button.
Android AutoTM
Connect compatible Android phone via USB to control phone, apps, and navigation. Download the Android Auto app. Activate Google Assistant by pressing and holding the steering wheel button, touching the launch bar icon, or saying 'OK Google'.
Navigation System (if so equipped)
Calculates routes with turn-by-turn guidance. Some functions are limited or disabled above 5 mph (8 km/h) for safety. Use touch-screen display, VOLUME knob, MENU button, MAP button, BACK button, zoom keys, and SETTINGS.
NissanConnect Services Powered by SiriusXM (if so equipped)
Offers security and convenience services like Automatic Collision Notification, Roadside Assistance connection, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Remote Engine Start, Alarm Notification, Maintenance Alert, Connected Search, Valet Alert, Curfew Alert, Journey Planner, Boundary Alert, and Speed Alert. Enroll via www.NissanUSA.com/connect or 855-426-6628.
SiriusXM Traffic (if so equipped) and SiriusXM Travel Link (if so equipped)
Provides real-time weather, fuel prices, movie listings, sports scores, stock quotes (Travel Link) and traffic incident information (Traffic) via the Navigation System. Access via the INFO button.
Wi-Fi (if so equipped)
Connect to Wi-Fi networks for map updates or online searches. Connect via Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi. Enter password when prompted.
Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant*
Send and receive text messages using predefined or custom messages via Bluetooth. Messages can be read aloud. Manual creation is available when stationary. Requires phone support for Message Access Profile (MAP).
Bluetooth Streaming Audio*
Stream audio from a compatible Bluetooth device (A2DP/AVRCP profiles) through the vehicle's speakers. Connect device via Settings > Connections > Add New. Select 'Bluetooth Audio' as the source.
Wireless Charging (if so equipped)
Place smartphone horizontally on the charging pad over the 'Qi' logo. Orange indicator shows charging start, green shows completion. Blinking orange indicates a malfunction.
Functions Disabled While Driving
Allows passenger access to certain vehicle functions while moving. Functions can be unlocked by accepting a message on the screen when the vehicle detects a front passenger with a seatbelt fastened.
Driving Features
Electronic Shift Lever
Returns to a home position after operation. Gear selection indicated on the lever and in the meter display. Shift to R (Reverse) by pressing button and sliding forward. Shift to D (Drive) by sliding rearward. Shift to N (Neutral) by partially sliding forward/rearward and holding. Press P (Park) button to engage Park. Park is automatically engaged when ignition is switched off or driver's door opens in R, N, or D.
Electronic Parking Brake
Pull the switch to apply the parking brake (indicator light illuminates). Depress brake pedal and push switch down to release (indicator light turns off).
Automatic Brake Hold
Maintains braking force when stopped. Activate by pushing the switch (indicator light illuminates). Requires driver's seatbelt fastened, parking brake released, transmission not in Park, and not on a steep hill. Cancel by pushing the switch or depressing the brake pedal and pushing the switch.
Forward Driving Aid Sensors (if so equipped)
Camera and radar sensors support systems like Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), ProPILOT Assist, and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. A warning may appear if sensors are blocked by mud, dirt, ice, or weather. Clean sensors and restart the vehicle. If issues persist, consult a Nissan dealer.
Blind Spot Warning (BSW) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- BSW: Alerts driver to vehicles in blind spots. Indicator light illuminates on mirrors. Audible alert and flashing indicator if turn signal is used. Enabled/disabled via 'Driver Assistance' menu.
- RCTA: Alerts driver to approaching vehicles when backing out of a parking space. Operates in R (Reverse) at speeds under 5 mph (8 km/h).
ProPILOT Assist (if so equipped) and ProPILOT Assist With NAVI Link (if so equipped)
ProPILOT Assist: Combines Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Steering Assist for freeway driving. Driver must remain attentive. Activate by pushing the ProPILOT Assist switch, then push toggle down to SET-. Adjust following distance with the distance switch. Display shows set speed, steering assist status (green/gray), lane marker status (gray/green/yellow/orange), ProPILOT Assist status (white/blue), vehicle ahead detection, and set distance. Cancel by pressing CANCEL switch, tapping brake, or pushing ProPILOT Assist switch. Set speed range: 20-90 mph (32-144 km/h).
Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC): Maintains set speed and distance from vehicle ahead. Stops vehicle if the vehicle ahead stops. Resume by pushing toggle switch towards RES+ or depressing accelerator.
Steering Assist: Helps keep vehicle in lane when lane markers are clear. Operates above 37 mph (60 km/h) or when a vehicle is detected ahead below 37 mph. Cancels or goes to standby if turn signal is activated, hands are not detected, or wipers are on HIGH speed. Turn off via steering wheel switch or 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Hands On Detection: System warns if hands are not detected on the steering wheel. Apply gentle torque to resume. If no action is taken, ProPILOT Assist will cancel, and the vehicle may stop.
ProPILOT Assist with Navi Link: Adds Speed Limit Assist (automatically adjusts set speed to detected speed limits) and Speed Adjust by Route (reduces speed for curves and exits based on navigation data). Settings adjustable in 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Conventional (Fixed Speed) Cruise Control: Operates at a fixed speed (25-90 mph / 40-144 km/h) without responding to vehicles ahead. Activate by pushing and holding ProPILOT Assist switch for >1.5 seconds.
Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) (if so equipped)
Vehicle-to-Vehicle Distance Control Mode: Set by pushing CRUISE ON/OFF switch (<1.5 sec). Set speed by pushing SET-. Adjust distance (long, middle, short) with distance button. Cancel by pressing CANCEL or tapping brake. Turn off by pressing CRUISE ON/OFF.
Cruise Control (if so equipped)
Maintains a constant speed (25 mph / 40 km/h and above). Activate by pushing CRUISE ON/OFF. Set speed by pushing SET-. Accelerate/decelerate using RES+ or SET-. Cancel by pressing CANCEL or tapping brake. Turn off by pressing CRUISE ON/OFF.
Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection
Assists in preventing forward collisions with vehicles or pedestrians. Operates above 3 mph (5 km/h). Audible tone and indicator light illuminate if collision risk is detected. System automatically increases braking force if needed. Partial braking applied if no driver action is taken.
Intelligent Around View Monitor (if so equipped)
Activates by pressing the CAMERA button or shifting to R (Reverse). Displays front, rear, bird's-eye, and front-side views. Colored guide lines indicate distances. Moving Object Detection (MOD) system warns of moving objects around the vehicle at speeds up to 6 mph (10 km/h).
Hill Descent Control System (if so equipped)
Reduces driver workload on steep hills. Activates when vehicle speed is under 15 mph (25 km/h) and switch is ON. Works in Sand and Mud/Rut modes. Indicator light illuminates when ON. Turn OFF by pushing the switch.
Drive Mode Selector
- AUTO: Default mode for normal driving.
- SNOW: For slippery roads.
- ECO: Maximizes fuel economy (performance may be reduced).
- MUD/RUT (4WD ONLY): For muddy areas.
- SPORT: For enhanced performance feel (fuel economy may be reduced).
- SAND (4WD ONLY): For sandy areas.
- TOW: For towing a trailer.
Select modes by turning the Drive Mode Selector dial. Mode appears in the vehicle information display, and an indicator light appears on the dial.
Rear Automatic Braking (RAB)
Assists driver when backing up and approaching objects behind the vehicle. Functions in R (Reverse) at speeds under 9 mph (15 km/h). Warning light flashes, red frame appears (if equipped), and braking is applied automatically if collision risk is detected. Turn ON/OFF via 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI) (if so equipped)
- LDW: Alerts driver when vehicle drifts too close to lane markings (speeds ~37 mph / 60 km/h and above, clear markings required). Vibrates steering wheel and blinks orange LDW indicator.
- I-LI: Assists in returning vehicle to lane center by applying individual brake pressure.
LDW and I-LI can be turned ON/OFF via the 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
Holds brakes for 2 seconds after releasing the brake pedal when stopped on a hill, allowing time to accelerate. Operates in forward/reverse gears when stopped on a hill. Does not operate in Neutral or Park, or on level roads.
Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA)
Monitors driver attention. Provides audible and visual warnings ('Take a Break?') if attention decreases (speeds >37 mph / 60 km/h). Activated via vehicle information display settings.
Front and Rear Sonar System (if so equipped)
Provides visual and audible alerts of obstacles near the vehicle when in Drive (front obstacles) or Reverse (front/rear obstacles). Can be turned ON/OFF via 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) (if so equipped)
Captures and displays road sign information (speed limits, etc.) from a windshield camera in the vehicle information display. Can be turned ON/OFF via 'Driver Assistance' menu.
Head Up Display (HUD) (if so equipped)
Projects vehicle speed, driving aids, audio, navigation, and warnings onto the windshield. Turn ON/OFF via HUD switch. Adjust settings (brightness, rotation, height, content) via the 'Settings' menu in the vehicle information display.
