Block Diagram and Schematic Diagrams
The following sections detail the internal structure and electrical connections of the units.
3.1 Block Diagram
The block diagram illustrates the main functional units and their interconnections. Key units include:
- A TUNER AMP UNIT: Handles FM/AM radio reception and audio amplification. It includes components like the FM/AM Tuner Unit, RF Tank, VCO, LPF, IC1 (MIX/IF/PLL), IC2 (DET/NC/MPC/MPX/DIV), IC3 (EEPROM), IC4 (5V-3.3V regulators), and various buffer and amplifier stages.
- D CD CORE UNIT (S10.1): Manages CD playback functions. It comprises the Pickup Unit (Laser Diode, Hologram Unit, Focus Actuator, Tracking Actuator, Spindle Motor, Loading/Carriage Motor), IC201 (RF AMP, CD DECODER, MP3/WMA DECODER, DIGITAL SERVO/DATA PROCESSOR), IC301 (CD DRIVER), and associated control logic.
- B PANEL UNIT: Contains controls and indicators for the user interface, including power management, volume control, source selection, and display elements. Key components include system controllers (IC601, IC602), power regulators, and audio output drivers.
- C KEYBOARD UNIT: Houses the user input controls, such as buttons and the remote control sensor. It includes microcontrollers (IC2000, IC2001), key matrix scanning, and illumination control.
Interconnections between these units are shown via various connectors (e.g., CN101, CN901, CN351, CN1951).
3.2 Overall Connection Diagram (Guide Page)
This diagram provides a high-level overview of how the main units (Tuner Amp Unit, Panel Unit, CD Core Unit, Keyboard Unit) are connected. It references detailed schematic pages (A-a, A-b) for specific circuit implementations.
Notes on Diagrams:
- Resistors and capacitors are coded with practical values (e.g., '123' for 12k ohms, '103' for 10k ohms or 0.01uF).
- The '>' symbol indicates safety-critical components requiring identical replacements.
- Resistors and capacitors are not differentiated between chip and discrete types in the diagrams.
3.3 Keyboard Unit
This section details the circuitry for the keyboard and remote control interface. It includes the system microcomputer (IC2000, IC2001), remote control sensor (IC1991), and various input/output signals for button presses, display control, and joystick input.
3.4 CD Mechanism Module (Guide Page)
This section covers the CD playback mechanism. It details the Pickup Unit (Laser Diode, Hologram Unit, Actuators, Motors), the CD Driver IC (IC301 BA5835FP), and the main CD Decoder/Processor IC (IC201 UPD63763GJ). It also includes motor driver logic tables and switch functions (HOME, DSCSNS, 12EJ, 8EJ).
Signal Line Conventions:
- SIGNAL LINE
- FOCUS SERVO LINE
- TRACKING SERVO LINE
- CARRIAGE SERVO LINE
- SPINDLE SERVO LINE
Notes on Grounding:
- GND, PGND, and AGND are distinct and not interconnected on the PCB.
- PGND is connected to a floating mechanism part via a screw.
- Monitor lands are indicated by '.' (1.2mm) and '#' (0.8mm).
- Lands for manual soldering are also indicated.
Waveforms
The following waveforms illustrate signal behavior during various operations. Reference voltage REFO1 is typically 1.65V.
A. CD Loading Operations
- DSCSNS, 8SNS, 12SNS, LOEJ, CLCONT, VD: Waveforms showing signals during 12 cm CD Loading (standard and CD-DA setup) and 8 cm CD Loading operations. Scales vary (e.g., 5V/div, 10V/div, 500ms/div, 2s/div).
B. CD Setup and Playback Operations
- SIN, CIN, TIN: Waveforms for CD-DA setup after loading, CD-ROM setup after loading, and CD-ROM playback. Scales include 1V/div, 500mV/div, and 2s/div.
- FIN, RFOK, SIN, TE, FE, TIN: Waveforms related to CD-DA setup, CD-ROM setup, and CD-DA play operations. Parameters include 200mV/div, 2V/div, 500mV/div, 20ms/div, 50ms/div, and 5μs/div.
- MDX: Waveform related to CD-DA play operation, with parameters 1V/div and 50ms/div.
C. Search and Eject Operations
- FIN, TE, RFAGC, TIN: Waveforms for Focus Search, Track Open, and Track Jump operations. Scales include 500mV/div, 1V/div, 200ms/div, 2ms/div, 500μs/div, 1ms/div, and 2ms/div.
- LOUT, ROUT: Analog audio waveforms during search operation.
- DSCSNS, 8SNS, 12SNS, LOEJ, CLCONT, SIN, CIN, TIN: Waveforms for CD Eject operations (12 cm and 8 cm) and CD-DA >> CD-ROM mode change. Scales include 5V/div, 1V/div, 500mV/div, 500ms/div.
D. Spindle Waveforms
- Spindle waveforms during play operation (regular track jump) and play operation (wider).
