Technical Specifications
Pressure and Temperature Limits
Low Pressure (LP) and High Pressure (HP) ports are available. The operating temperature range is from a minimum of -25 °C to a maximum of 65 °C.
Range | PS / MWP |
---|---|
LP: -0.2 – 7.5 bar | 17 bar / 245 psig |
HP: 8 – 32 bar | 32 bar / 464 psig |
Electrical Ratings
The pressure switches have the following electrical ratings:
- AC-3: 16 A / 250 V AC
- AC-15: 10 A / 250 V AC
For selected A2L refrigerants (R455A, R454C, R1234yf), specific electrical ratings apply:
Voltage | Current range | Power factor (cos φ) | Frequency |
---|---|---|---|
250V AC | ≤ 4.0 A | PF ≥ 0.400 | 50Hz/60Hz |
250V AC | > 4.0 to 6.0 A | PF ≥ 0.594 | 50Hz/60Hz |
250V AC | > 6.0 to 16.0 A | PF ≥ 0.780 | 50Hz/60Hz |
UL Regulations Listing
When used according to UL regulations, the switches are listed as refrigeration controller 61B5:
Voltage | FL (A) | LR (A) | Resist. load (A) | Pilot duty |
---|---|---|---|---|
240V AC | 8 | 48 | 8 A | 3A |
120V AC | 16 | 96 | 16 A | - |
240V AC | - | - | - | 12 W |
Connection Details
The pressure switches feature electrical terminals labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, and an 'E' screw terminal. The system connection is a 1/4 in SAE flare. The main unit dimensions accommodate a Ø=12 (15/32 in) fitting.
Enclosure Options
Two enclosure types are available:
- Enclosure IP30 (EN 60529) with M4 (8-32 UNC) mounting.
- Enclosure IP44 (EN 60529).
A maximum clearance of 3 mm (1/8 in) is required for certain connections.
Installation and Adjustment
Wiring and Signals
The pressure switches support LP+HP signals and SPDT+LP signals. Diagrams illustrate the signal flow through components like SLPC, SHPC, OLPC, OHPC, and a motor (M) symbol. Maximum ratings for signals are 50 VA and 0.2 A.
Pressure Adjustment
The switches allow for adjustment of cut-in and cut-out pressures and differentials.
- LP Adjustment: Cut-in and Cut-out pressures can be set. The differential is fixed. The adjustment dial indicates 360° corresponds to 0.7 bar / 10 psi for pressure settings. The LP differential adjustment is 360° = 0.15 bar / 2 psi. The cut-out pressure is specified as 1 bar (Pe) (30 in Hg).
- HP Adjustment: Cut-in and Cut-out pressures can be set. The differential is fixed. The adjustment dial indicates 360° corresponds to 2.3 bar / 33.5 psi for pressure settings.
A 6 mm (1/4 in) tool is recommended for adjustments.
Safety Requirements and Disclaimer
Important Notice: Safety Requirements
⚠️ CAUTION: Disconnect power supply before wiring connections are made or service to avoid possible electrical shock or damage to equipment. Never touch live parts with fingers or tools.
The following safety requirements must be adhered to:
- KP pressure switches shall only be employed in units/systems complying with charge limits and ignition source avoidance requirements of IEC 60335-2-24, IEC 60335-2-40, IEC 60335-2-89, ISO 5149, EN378-1, or equivalent standards.
- Prevent applying overload to the KPs. If damaged, stop the system/unit and replace the KP.
- Implement electrostatic discharge and electrical leakage protection through grounding or other measures.
- Only trained personnel authorized to handle flammable refrigerants systems may perform installation, maintenance, and exchange of the switch using appropriate tools.
- Regularly check the function of the KP switch.
- Install KP pressure switches in areas with a low risk of mechanical damage.
- Consider corrosion protection for KP pressure switches when used in corrosive environments.
- Cables must not contact sharp edges. Connect cables with adequate stress relief to prevent pulling forces on terminals.
- In systems with pressure pulsation, dump these pulsations effectively to prevent bellows failure. Keep the cycle frequency of the KP switch as low as possible.
- Do not install KP switches in locations with high vibration levels.
