Aube TH115 A/F/AF Owner's Guide

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Aube TH115, a programmable thermostat that provides both energy savings and comfort.

First Power ON

When power is applied for the first time, the LCD displays: 0:00, MO (Monday), and temperature (room/floor).

To set the current time and day:

For AF and F models: one of the two following messages may be displayed if the installation is incorrect:

[Image Description: A diagram shows the thermostat's LCD displaying time 14:25, temperature 18.2°C, and day MO. Below this are two examples: "Correct" showing 0:00 LO, and "Incorrect" showing 0:00 LO. The text explains that "LO" indicates a floor temperature below 32°F (0°C) or a defective/disconnected sensor, and "HI" indicates a floor temperature above 140°F (60°C) or a defective sensor. The heating indicator is depicted with a flame symbol.]

GFCI Test (GA & GB power base only)

The GFCI monitors the electrical flow for any loss of current. If there is one, the thermostat will cut off power to the heating system. It is recommended to test the GFCI immediately after installing the control module, and once a month thereafter to ensure it is operating properly.

To test:

When successful, reset the thermostat (Stand By/On) to power the heating system.

NOTE: If the test warning light comes ON during normal operation, cut power to the heating system from the main power panel and have an electrician verify the installation.

Switch Selection

This thermostat is factory-set to the following values:

#FunctionUPDN
SW1Temperature format°F°C
SW2Early StartDisableEnable
SW3Time format12-hour24-hour

Notes:

[Image Description: A diagram shows switches SW1, SW2, SW3 located on the rear of the control module. Text indicates that to modify any setting, switch UP or DN. The table above details the function of each switch.]

Temperature Setpoint

The following temperature setpoints are pre-programmed:

SymbolDescriptionDefault (A/AF)Default (F)New
Comfort (when at home)70°F82°F
Economy (when asleep/ away from home)64°F68°F
Vacation (during prolonged absence)50°F50°F

To modify a setpoint:

Floor temperature limit

The floor temperature limit is 82°F. To modify this limit:

To avoid damaging your floor, it is recommended to follow the supplier's instructions.

Control Module Installation

Align the bracket tabs on the control module with the holes located on top of the power base.

[Image Description: A diagram shows the control module and the power base, illustrating how to align the bracket tabs on the control module with the holes on the power base.]

NOTE: Keep the thermostat's air vents clean and free from obstructions.

NOTE: The screw cannot be removed completely.

Operating Modes

[Image Description: A diagram shows the thermostat display in different operating modes. One shows 6:42, 20.2°C with the "Automatic" mode symbol. Another shows 6:42, 24.2°C with the "Manual" mode symbol. A third shows 9:25, 10.0°C with the "Vacation" mode symbol.]

Pre-programmed Schedule

The TH115 programmable thermostat is pre-programmed with the following schedule:

ProgramsTime you wake up and desired temperatureTime you leave and temperature during your absenceTime you return home and desired temperatureTime you go to bed and overnight temperature
MO TU WE TH FR SA SU6:008:3016:0023:00

[Image Description: A table shows the pre-programmed schedule. It lists four time slots per day: Wake (6:00), Leave (8:30), Return (16:00), and Sleep (23:00). The schedule is the same for Monday through Sunday, except for the "Leave" and "Return" times which are marked as "--:--" for Saturday and Sunday.]

Modify the Schedule

Notes:

To modify:

NOTE: After 60 seconds of inactivity, the thermostat will automatically exit programming mode.

Remote Input

The TH115 is equipped with a remote input which allows connection of a telephone controller (accessory Aube CT240) or any other remote control system. When a signal is received through this input, the TH115 will automatically switch from normal operating mode to Vacation mode [vacation-mode-symbol], and vice versa when the signal is removed.

Activating the Vacation mode

There are two ways to activate the Vacation mode:

WARNING: When the Vacation mode is activated remotely, it must be deactivated remotely.

Temperature Control

The TH115 thermostat works differently than conventional electromechanical thermostats. It is equipped with a proportional integral adaptive (P.I.A.) controller which determines heating cycles by analyzing the temperature behavior history within the room. The P.I.A. controller reduces temperature variations, providing accurate temperature control while increasing user comfort.

The controller determines the amount of power required by the heating system to maintain the setpoint temperature.

[Image Description: A visual aid shows bars representing power percentages from 1 to 20%, 21 to 40%, 41 to 60%, 61 to 80%, and 81 to 100%. This illustrates how the P.I.A. controller adjusts power output.]

The thermostat uses proportional integral adaptive (P.I.A.) control, with heating cycles of 15-minute or 15-second duration depending on the application and power base.
