TH106 Programmable Thermostat Owner's Guide
Introduction
This guide provides detailed information for the Aube TH106 Programmable Thermostat, covering its features, installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting.
1. Description
This programmable thermostat is designed to control electric heating systems, including electric baseboard heaters, radiant ceilings, radiant floors, convectors, and fan-forced heaters.
The thermostat is NOT compatible with:
- Resistive loads over 16.7 A
- Resistive loads under 2 A
- Systems driven by a contactor or relay (inductive loads)
- Central heating systems
Supplied Parts:
- One (1) thermostat
- Two (2) 6-32 screws
- Two (2) solderless connectors
Thermostat Interface Indicators:
- [Setpoint Display]: Indicates that the temperature setpoint is displayed.
- [Settings Locked]: Indicates that the settings are locked.
- [Current Mode]: Indicates the current mode of operation.
- [Preset Icon]: Indicates a preset temperature.
- [Fan-Forced Icon]: Indicates the thermostat is configured for a fan-forced heater.
- [Heating Power]: Indicates the heating power.
- [Current Period]: Appears in automatic mode only, indicating the current period.
- [No Power Icon]: Indicates that the thermostat is without power. The 'LP' indicator may appear for the first two minutes when the thermostat loses power, which can happen during an outage or when the heater's thermal protection device opens.
2. Installation
IMPORTANT: TURN OFF POWER TO THE HEATING SYSTEM AT THE MAIN POWER PANEL TO AVOID ELECTRICAL SHOCK. INSTALLATION MUST BE PERFORMED BY AN ELECTRICIAN.
- All cables and connections must conform to the local electrical code.
- Use special CO/ALR solderless connectors when connecting with aluminum conductors.
- Install the thermostat onto an electrical box.
- Mount the thermostat approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) high on an inside wall facing the heater.
- Avoid locations with air drafts (e.g., top of stairs, air outlets), dead air spots (e.g., behind doors), or direct sunlight.
- Do not install the thermostat on a wall concealing chimney or stove pipes.
- The thermostat wires are not polarized; either wire can connect to the load or power supply.
Note: Always keep the thermostat's vents clean and unobstructed.
Installation Diagram Descriptions:
- 2-wire installation: Shows thermostat wires connecting to line wires and load wires using solderless connectors for copper wires.
- 4-wire installation: Shows thermostat wires connecting to line wires and load wires using solderless connectors for copper wires.
Steps:
- Connect the thermostat wires to the line wires and load wires using solderless connectors.
- Push any excess wire back into the electrical box.
- If necessary, configure the thermostat (see Section 3) before re-installing the front component.
- Return power to the heating system.
3. Configuration
Configuration switches are located on the back of the thermostat. Factory settings are indicated in the table below.

a Early Start: Usable only in Automatic mode. Calculates optimal heating start time to reach desired temperature by set time. Re-assesses start time daily based on previous performance.
b Cycle Length: Select 'Short' for most cases for better temperature control. Select 'Long' for fan-forced heaters; the 'FAN' indicator will display.
c Keypad Lock: When locked, temperature adjustment buttons only allow viewing the setpoint.
4. Clock and Day Setting
To set the clock and day:
- Press the [Set Hour] button to set the hour.
- Press the [Set Minute] button to set the minutes.
- Press the [Set Day] button to set the day.
- Press the [Mode Select] button to finish.
Daylight Savings Time
The thermostat can automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time. When enabled (On), it switches to DST on the second Sunday of March and to normal time on the first Sunday of November. This function is disabled by default if the clock loses its setting.
To configure DST:
- Press and hold the [Set Day] button for 3 seconds until 'DLS' appears.
- Press either the [▲] or [▼] button to toggle between 'On' (enabled) and 'Off' (disabled).
- Briefly press the [Set Day] button. The year is displayed.
- Use the [▲] or [▼] buttons to set the current year.
- Briefly press the [Set Day] button. The month is displayed.
- Use the [▲] or [▼] buttons to set the current month.
- Briefly press the [Set Day] button. The date is displayed.
- Use the [▲] or [▼] buttons to set the current date.
- Press the [Mode Select] button to finish.
5. Temperature Setting
Setpoint
The thermostat normally displays the current temperature. To view the setpoint, briefly press the [▲] or [▼] button; it will appear for 5 seconds. To change the setpoint, press [▲] or [▼] until the desired temperature is displayed. Hold the button to scroll faster.
Using Preset Temperatures
The thermostat offers three preset temperatures:
- Comfort temperature: For when occupants are home.
- Economy temperature: For when occupants are asleep or away.
- Vacation temperature: For prolonged absences.

To use Comfort or Economy temperatures, press the [▲] or [▼] button respectively; the corresponding icon will display. To use the Vacation temperature, press both [▲] and [▼] buttons simultaneously; the [Vacation Icon] will display.
Storing a Preset Temperature
To store Comfort or Economy temperature: Set the desired temperature using [▲] or [▼]. Press and hold the appropriate button ([▲] or [▼]) for approximately 3 seconds until its icon appears.
To store Vacation temperature: Set the desired temperature using [▲] or [▼]. Press and hold both [▲] and [▼] buttons simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds until the [Vacation Icon] appears.
6. Modes of Operation
- Automatic: The thermostat follows the programmed schedule. Press the [Mode Select] button until the [Current Mode] icon is displayed. The current period and preset temperature icons will also be shown.
- Temporary Bypass: If you change the setpoint (using [▲], [▼], or other buttons) while in Automatic mode, the new setpoint is used until the end of the current period. The thermostat then reverts to the schedule's setpoint. Press [Mode Select] to cancel the bypass.
- Manual: The programmed schedule is not used; temperature must be set manually. Press the [Mode Select] button until the Manual icon is displayed, then use the [▲], [▼], [▲], or [▼] buttons to set the temperature.
7. Schedule
The schedule has 4 periods per day, typical for a weekday. You can skip periods not applicable to your situation (e.g., skip periods 2 and 3 for weekends).
Comfort ([Comfort Icon]) temperature is used in periods 1 and 3; Economy ([Economy Icon]) temperature is used in periods 2 and 4. For example, when transitioning from period 1 to 2, the setpoint automatically changes from Comfort to Economy.
You can set different programs for each day of the week.

To modify the schedule:
- Press [Program Schedule] to enter programming mode; Period 1 is selected.
- Press [Set Day] to select the day to program (hold for 3 seconds to select the entire week).
- Use [Set Hour] and [Set Minute] to set the start time for the selected period, or press [Skip Period] to skip the period (--:-- displayed).
- Press [Program Schedule] for another period or [Set Day] for another day, then repeat step 3.
- Press [Mode Select] to exit programming mode.
Note: If no button is pressed for 60 seconds, the thermostat will automatically exit programming mode.
8. Power Outage
During a power outage, 'LP' (Low Power) appears for the first minute, then the screen blanks. Settings are stored in memory. After initial installation, the product requires at least two hours of power to enable the power outage memory feature. If a power failure exceeds 4 hours, the clock must be reset, and the Daylight Savings Time function may need to be re-enabled. Upon power restoration, the thermostat returns to its previous operating mode.
9. Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |

Thermostat is hot. | Under normal operation, the thermostat housing can reach temperatures between 35°C (95°F) and 40°C (104°F). |
'LO' is displayed. | The measured temperature is below the display range. Heating is activated. |
'HI' is displayed. | The measured temperature is above the display range. |
Wrong temperature is displayed. | The thermostat is exposed to an air draft; eliminate the draft. Ensure the sticker on the thermostat's screen has been removed. |
Wrong time is displayed. | The thermostat was without power for more than 4 hours. |
Temperature does not change according to the programmed schedule. | Ensure the thermostat is in Automatic mode. Check schedule and clock settings. |
'LP' appears on the screen or the screen is blank despite no power outage. | The thermal circuit breaker in the heater may have opened due to obstruction or defect. Check for obstructions or a faulty breaker. |
Display looks faded when heating is activated. | The heating system's minimum load may be less than required. This thermostat cannot be used below its minimum load rating. |
The settings cannot be changed. | The settings are locked (see Section 3). |

Warranty
Resideo warrants this product to be free from defects in workmanship or materials under normal use and service for a period of three (3) years from the date of first purchase by the original purchaser. If the product is found to be defective during the warranty period, Resideo will repair or replace it at its option.
If the product is defective:
- Return it with dated proof of purchase to the place of purchase.
- Or, call Resideo Customer Care at 1-800-468-1502. Customer Care will determine if the product should be returned to Resideo Return Goods, 1985 Douglas Dr. N., Golden Valley, MN 55422, or if a replacement can be sent.
This warranty does not cover removal or reinstallation costs. It does not apply if the defect was caused by damage occurring while the product was in the consumer's possession.
Resideo's sole responsibility is to repair or replace the product. Resideo is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages resulting from any breach of warranty or product failure.
Some states may not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you.
This is the only express warranty Resideo makes. Any implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to three years. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so these limitations may not apply.
