IMPORTANT: IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE A SEALANT ON MATING FACES, AND AROUND ANY MOUNTING POINTS ON REAR PANEL TO PREVENT ANY WATER DAMAGE TO CHASSIS OR BOOT.
Installation Instructions
- Remove the rear bumper. Two fixings along rear panel, two fixings behind the boot side panel along the bumper edge, one tip screw and one push in clip on each wheel arch, four fixings along the rear panel and two along the lower edge.
- Remove bumper beam (This is not refitted with the towbar).
- Temporarily release the battery and jack mounting bracket to gain access to the towbar mounting holes.
- Locate item C and item D into each chassis and using item H with item L loosely bolt to existing holes.
- Using item G with item L and item M loosely bolt item A through the side arms and rear panel. Note; it is advisable to use a sealant to prevent any water leaking into chassis or boot.
- Using item K with item N loosely bolt item E to item A. (Adjust to suit bumper alignment).
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts and ensure the towbar is rigid and secure.
- Refit the bumper. (If required adjust bumper bracket (item E) to give maximum support).
- Using item J with item M bolt item B to item A.
- Using item F bolt the ball bracket and wiring plate (not supplied in this kit) to the mounting plate.
Diagram Description
The diagram shows an exploded view of the TM875 towbar assembly for the Mercedes E Class Estate. It illustrates the main components and their connection points. The central crossmember (A) is shown connecting to the left-hand side arm (C) and right-hand side arm (D) via bolts (H) and washers (L). The extension (B) is attached to the crossmember (A) using bolts (J) and washers (M). The bumper support bracket (E) is also bolted to the crossmember (A) using bolts (K) and washers (N). Various other bolts (F, G) and washers (L, M, N) are depicted for securing different parts of the assembly. Labels like '4XL' indicate quantities or sizes. A note within the diagram advises to 'CHECK AND ADJUST DISTANCE BETWEEN LOWER EDGE OF TAILGATE RUBBER AND BUMPER SUPPORT BRACKET'.

- Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 -139 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
- Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers' trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
