Waterdrop Water Filter Pitcher: User Guide and Performance Information
This document provides instructions and information for the Waterdrop water filter pitcher. The system is tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for reduction of claims specified on the Performance Data Sheet, and to NSF/ANSI 372 (≤0.25% lead).
Understanding TDS
TDS refers to Total Dissolved Solids, including minerals like sodium, calcium, and magnesium. Examples of TDS levels in various liquids include:
Milk | TDS: 1000-3000 |
Milk powder | TDS: >2000 |
Coffee | TDS: 150-400 |
Mineral water | TDS: 200-500 |
TDS level does not fully indicate water quality. It is improper to use TDS to measure water filtered by this product. Only Reverse Osmosis Filtration Systems can truly reduce TDS. This product uses coconut shell activated carbon to effectively adsorb contaminants and heavy metals while retaining beneficial minerals.
What's Included in the System
The system typically includes:
- 1. Lid
- 2. Filter life indicator
- 3. Water filter
- 4. Reservoir
- 5. Tank
- 6. Handle

Care and Safety Information
- Use cold water only. Operating temperature: 41-100°F / 5-38°C.
- Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality. This filter is only for tap water.
- Store the system in the refrigerator or a cool area away from direct sunlight for best results.
- If the filter dries out, soak it in cold tap water for 10 minutes to remove bubbles before use.
- If tap water has high turbidity (e.g., after cleaning the tank or long periods of non-use), flush the filter for a few minutes until the water runs clear.
- If the pitcher will not be used for a long time, store it in a clean, lidded container in the refrigerator to prolong cartridge life.
- Protect the filter from freezing to prevent cracking and leakage.
Getting Started/Instruction for Use
- Wash your hands, then remove the filter from its packaging.
- Soak the filter in cold tap water for 10 minutes to remove air bubbles and activate it for optimal performance. [Figure 1.1: Illustration of soaking the filter]
- Hand-wash the pitcher, lid, and reservoir with mild detergent. Do not use a dishwasher or abrasive cleaners. Rinse thoroughly.
- Install the filter into the reservoir. Press firmly to ensure a tight seal. [Figure 1.2: Illustration of installing the filter into the reservoir]
- Fill the reservoir with cold tap water. Discard the first two pitchers of filtered water.
- Activate the filter life indicator: Hold the button for 5 seconds until the blue light flashes. Repeat this step after each filter replacement. [Figure 1.3: Illustration of activating the filter indicator]
Filter Life Indicator Status:
Status | Indicator Light | Remaining Life (days) |
---|---|---|
Good (Blue) | Blue stays on for 5 seconds | >10 |
Replace Soon (Red) | Red flashes 6 times | ≤10 |
Replace Now (Red) | Red stays on for 10 seconds | ≤0 |
Replace the filter when 200 gallons of water have been filtered or when the red indicator light turns on, whichever comes first.
Change Water Filter
Follow steps 1 to 6 for changing the water filter.
Change Filter Life Indicator
The filter life indicator is replaceable. Squeeze the clamping jaw to remove it. Ensure the clamping jaw is fully inserted into the groove during reinstallation. [Figure 1.4: Illustration showing how to replace the filter life indicator]
Correctly Dispose of the Filter Indicator
If the battery expires, dispose of the indicator according to applicable regulations. [Recycling symbol and crossed-out trash bin symbol]

Questions and Answers
- Q: Why does the water flow get slow?
A: The filter cartridge may be clogged. Check the indicator; if it's time to change, replace it. If not, remove the filter and shake it vigorously to redistribute the granules, which may improve flow rate. - Q: Why does the water taste bad?
A: The product may be unclean, the filter cartridge might not be installed properly, or it may be time to change the filter cartridge. Clean the pitcher, ensure correct installation, or replace the filter. - Q: My filter indicator is not working; I cannot see the color!
A: The battery might be out of power. The filter life indicator is replaceable. Contact customer service if it is within the warranty period for a replacement. - Q: Why doesn't the TDS value decrease after filtration?
A: TDS measures total dissolved solids, including beneficial minerals like potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium. This filter retains these minerals, which can increase the TDS value. For physical removal of TDS, consider a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system.
3 Months Quality Assurance
Waterdrop warrants the water filter system for 3 months from the date of purchase (filter cartridge for 30 days) against defects in materials and workmanship, when used according to the manual. If the product proves defective within this period, contact customer service. Waterdrop will replace or repair defective parts, provided the product has not been tampered with, altered, or misused, and has not been repaired by unauthorized parties. This warranty does not cover misuse, operation outside specified temperature conditions, or commercial use. Waterdrop is not responsible for damage during transit.

Substance Reduction
The system is certified by NSF International according to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 and NSF/ANSI Standard 372. Testing under standard laboratory conditions showed significant reduction in indicated substances. Actual performance may vary.
Substance | Inf. Average | NSF Specified Challenge Concentration | Ave. % Reduction | Average Product Water Concentration | Max Permissible Product Water Concentration | NSF Reduction Requirements | NSF Test Report |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Chlorine Taste and odor | 2.0 mg/L | 2.0 mg/L ± 10% | 96.7% | 0.05 mg/L | N/A | ≥ 50% | J-00355920 |
The system is intended for use with municipal or well water sources that are regularly treated and tested to ensure bacteriological safety. Do not use with microbiologically unsafe water or water of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
