BD® PGII Sharps Containers offer an all-in-one sharps disposal solution designed to meet strict U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for the safe transport and disposal of Category A and B infectious substances. Packaging for these substances must:

• Comply with test standards
• Employ a triple-packaging system
• Display required UN markings and applicable labeling

What is PGII?

The DOT uses a system known as packing groups (PGs) to classify the level of danger posed by hazardous materials during transport. There are 3 PG classifications:

1. PGI (great danger)
2. PGII (medium danger)
3. PGIII (minor danger)

BD® PGII Sharps Containers

These containers offer a no-boxes, no-bags solution, allowing users to collect, seal, and ship in a single container. They eliminate the additional expense of secondary packaging and simplify the overall sharps disposal process. Available in 8- and 18-gallon sizes.

Waste Stream Segregation

BD Disposal Solutions offer collectors that meet the disposal needs for four categories of waste generated in medical settings: regulated medical waste and hazardous waste. Regulated medical waste includes sharps/infectious, pharmaceutical (non-hazardous), and chemotherapy waste. Hazardous waste is for the collection of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) waste.

Chemotherapy Sharps Collectors

BD® Chemotherapy Collectors feature a variety of lid designs and sizes for disposal of trace chemotherapy sharps waste. Trace waste is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (CDC/NIOSH) as “those that contain less than 3% by weight of the original quantity of hazardous drugs.”
