Product Overview

The Bose Panaray MA12 and MA12EX are modular line array loudspeakers designed for professional audio installations. They are suitable for various applications requiring clear, consistent sound coverage.

Important Safety Information

WARNING: Permanent installations involve the attachment of loudspeakers to brackets or other mounting surfaces for long-term or seasonal use. Such mountings, frequently in overhead locations, involve risk of personal injury if either the mounting system or the loudspeaker attachment fails.

Bose offers permanent mounting brackets for safe use. When using custom-designed or non-Bose mounting solutions, adhere to the following guidelines:

• Choose a position and mounting method consistent with local building codes and regulations.
• Ensure the mounting surface and method can structurally support the loudspeaker's weight (a 10:1 safety weight ratio is recommended).
• Obtain mounting systems from reputable manufacturers, specifically designed for the loudspeaker and intended use.
• Have custom-designed systems reviewed by a licensed professional engineer for structural integrity and safety.
• All rear attachment points are metric M6 x 1 x 15 mm thread with 10 usable threads.
• Use a safety cable, separately attached to the cabinet at a point distinct from the load-bearing attachment points. Consult professionals if unfamiliar with safety cable use.

CAUTION: Use only graded hardware. Fasteners should be metric Grade 8.8 minimum and tightened to a torque not exceeding 50 inch-pounds (5.6 Newton-meters). Overtightening can cause irreparable damage and unsafe assembly.

For vibration resistance, use lockwashers or thread locking compound (e.g., Loctite® 242).

CAUTION: Fasteners must engage 8-10 threads and protrude 8-10 mm (10 mm preferred). Ensure at least 8 full threads are engaged. Using fasteners that are too long or too short can cause damage or unsafe assembly.

CAUTION: Do not alter threaded attachment points. SAE 1/4-20 UNC fasteners are not interchangeable with metric M6. Modifying threads will render the installation unsafe and permanently damage the loudspeaker.

Dimensions and Mounting

The MA12 and MA12EX loudspeakers feature M6 x 1 x 15 mm threaded mounting points on the rear.

MA12 Dimensions:

• Height: 33.3" (84.6 cm)
• Width: 4.2" (10.7 cm)
• Depth: 5.1" (13 cm)
• Mounting Points: Four M6 x 15mm threaded inserts.

MA12EX Dimensions:

• Height: 38.8" (98.5 cm)
• Width: 6.0" (15.2 cm)
• Depth: 4.1" (10.4 cm)
• Mounting Points: Six M6 x 15mm threaded inserts.

Note: Stacking more than three units requires custom rigging.

Wiring Schematic

The loudspeakers can be connected using NL4 connectors or barrier strips. The wiring schematic shows how to connect to an amplifier or daisy-chain multiple speakers.

MA12 Wiring:

• NL4: Pins 1+ and 1- for full-range audio. Pins 2+ and 2- are available for other uses or daisy-chaining.
• Barrier Strip: Connections for positive (+) and negative (-) inputs.

MA12EX Wiring:

• NL4: Pins 1+ and 1- for full-range audio. Pins 2+ and 2- are available for other uses or daisy-chaining.
• Barrier Strip: Connections for positive (+) and negative (-) inputs.

The system supports "loudspeaker thru" connections for daisy-chaining.

System Setup

A typical system setup involves connecting a mixer/preamp and a power amplifier to the loudspeaker. An optional Active EQ controller (like Bose ControlSpace ESP-88 or ESP-00) can also be integrated for advanced control.
