The SubMatch Cable is intended for use with Bose L1 Pro32, Sub1, and Sub2 products only. Do NOT use it to connect more than two Sub1/Sub2 subwoofers together.

Connections and Controls

The L1 Pro32 features several controls and connection points on its power stand:

Assembling the Power Stand and Array

Before connecting to power, assemble the L1 Pro32:

  1. Insert the lower mid-high array into the power stand.
  2. Insert the upper mid-high array into the lower mid-high array.

The L1 Pro32 can be used without the upper array if ceiling height is limited.

Connecting Power and a Sub1/Sub2

Follow these steps to connect power and an optional Sub1/Sub2 bass module:

  1. Plug the SubMatch cable into the SubMatch Input on a Sub1/Sub2.
  2. Plug the other end of the SubMatch cable into the SubMatch Output of the L1 Pro32.
  3. Plug the power cord into the Power Input on the L1 Pro32.
  4. Plug the other end of the power cord into a live electrical outlet.

Note: Do not power on the L1 Pro until sources are connected. See "Connecting Sources" on page 9.

Press the Standby Button (a) to power on the L1 Pro. The LED will illuminate white. Press and hold for 10 seconds to reset to factory settings.

For Sub1/Sub2 setup, refer to its owner's guide at PRO.BOSE.COM.

Note: When connecting two Subs, power on the Sub connected directly to the L1 Pro32 first, then the second Sub.

AutoOff/Low-power Standby

The L1 Pro enters AutoOff/Low-power Standby mode after four hours of inactivity to save power. Press the Standby Button to wake it. This mode cuts power to connected Sub1/Sub2 units via SubMatch cable; press the Sub's Standby Button to wake them.

To disable/enable AutoOff/Low-power Standby: Press and hold all three Channel Parameter Controls for 10 seconds, or use the L1 Mix app settings. Disabling increases energy usage when idle.

Connecting Sources

Channel 1 & 2 Controls

Channels 1 and 2 are for microphones, guitars, keyboards, and other instruments. They support various input types with proper gain staging.

  1. Connect your sound source to the Channel Input (t) with the appropriate cable.
  2. Apply a ToneMatch preset by pressing the Channel ToneMatch Button (r) until the desired preset LED illuminates. Use MIC for microphones and INST for acoustic guitars/instruments. Use OFF for no preset. (Custom presets can be selected via the L1 Mix app; the LED will be green.)
  3. Press the Channel Parameter Control (q) to select a parameter (volume, treble, bass, reverb). The parameter name LED illuminates white.
  4. Rotate the Channel Parameter Control (q) to adjust the selected parameter's level. The parameter LED indicates the level.

Note: To mute reverb, press and hold the control for two seconds while Reverb is selected. The Reverb LED will flash white. Press and hold again to unmute. Reverb mute resets when powered off.

Channel 3 Controls

Channel 3 is for Bluetooth® enabled devices and line-level audio inputs.

Bluetooth Pairing

To manually connect a Bluetooth device:

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth feature on your mobile device.
  2. Press and hold the Bluetooth® Pair Button (g) for two seconds. The LED will flash blue when ready to pair.
  3. Select your L1 Pro32 from your device's Bluetooth list. The LED will illuminate solid white when paired successfully.

Note: Disable notifications or enable airplane mode on your connected device to prevent interruptions.

TRS Line Input

A mono input for connecting line-level audio sources (mixers, instrument effects) using a 6.4 mm (1/4-inch) TRS cable.

Aux Line Input

A stereo input for connecting line-level audio sources (mobile devices, laptops) using a 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) TRS cable.

L1 Mix App Control

Download the Bose L1 Mix app for additional device control and audio streaming. Follow in-app instructions for connection and usage.

App Features include: Adjust channel volume, adjust channel mixer parameters, adjust system EQ, enable channel mute, enable reverb mute, enable phantom power, access ToneMatch preset library, save scenes.

Additional Adjustments

Channel Mute

Press the Channel Mute button (e) to mute/unmute an individual channel. The button illuminates white when muted.

Phantom Power

Press the Phantom Power button (y) to apply 48-volt power to channels 1 and 2. The LED illuminates white when active. Use for condenser microphones. Press again to turn off. Note: Affects sources connected via XLR cable only.

System EQ

Press the System EQ button (s) to cycle through presets: OFF, LIVE, MUSIC, SPEECH. The corresponding LED illuminates white. The selected EQ stays active after power cycling. Note: System EQ affects power stand/array audio only, not XLR Line Output audio.

Setup Scenarios

The L1 Pro32 can be placed on the floor or an elevated stage. WARNING: Do not place in unstable locations. CAUTION: Do not block ventilation holes. Avoid sand or grass to prevent debris entry.

All scenarios require at least one Sub1 or Sub2 bass module. Refer to the Sub1/Sub2 owner's guide for settings.

Musician (with Sub)

Visual Description: Connect a microphone via XLR to Channel 1 Input. Connect a guitar via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 2 Input. Connect a Sub1/Sub2 to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Output.

Musician with Mobile Device (with Sub)

Visual Description: Connect a microphone via XLR to Channel 1 Input. Connect a guitar via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 2 Input. Connect a mobile device via 3.5mm TRS to the Aux Line Input (Channel 3). Connect a Sub1/Sub2 to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Output.

Band (with Sub)

Visual Description: Connect a microphone via XLR to Channel 1 Input. Connect a guitar via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 2 Input. Connect a keyboard via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 3 Input (or Aux). Connect a Sub1/Sub2 to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Output.

Musician with T8S Mixer (with Sub)

Visual Description: Connect the T8S ToneMatch mixer to the L1 Pro32's ToneMatch Port using a ToneMatch cable. Connect instruments and microphones to the T8S mixer. Connect a Sub1/Sub2 to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Output. Note: T8S left channel audio is delivered only.

Musician (with Analog Sub Connection)

Visual Description: Connect a microphone via XLR to Channel 1 Input. Connect a guitar via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 2 Input. Connect the L1 Pro32's Line Out to the Line In 1 of a Sub1/Sub2. Connect a Sub1/Sub2 to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Output.

Musician Stereo with T4S Mixer (with Two Subs)

DJ Mono (with Two Stacked Subs)

DJ Mono (with Two Stacked Cardioid Subs)

Connect two Sub1/Sub2 bass modules stacked (Cardioid mode), with the first Sub's Line Out connected to the second Sub's Line In 1 via XLR cable. DJ Stereo (with Four Stacked Subs)

Visual Description: Connect DJ mixer Left output to Channel 1 Input via 1/4-inch TS. Connect DJ mixer Right output to Channel 2 Input via 1/4-inch TS. Connect four Sub1/Sub2 bass modules stacked (two per side), with each pair connected via analog cables and then to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Outputs. *Alternate Connection: Use TRS Line Input for wider volume control.

Musician Dual Mono (with Two Subs)

Visual Description: Connect microphone via XLR to Channel 1 Input. Connect guitar via 1/4-inch TS to Channel 2 Input. Connect a second L1 Pro32 (or similar) via Line Out to the second L1 Pro32's Channel 1 Input. Connect two Sub1/Sub2 bass modules to the L1 Pro32's SubMatch Outputs. *Alternate Connection: Use TRS Line Input for wider volume control.

Musician with S1 Pro Monitor (with Sub)

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning Your L1 Pro

CAUTION: Do not use solvents, chemicals, or cleaning solutions containing alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives.

CAUTION: Do not use sprays near the product or allow liquids to spill into openings.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
No power
  • Ensure AC outlet has power. Test with another device or outlet tester.
No sound
  • Ensure L1 Pro is on.
  • Ensure instrument is plugged into Channel Input.
  • Turn up source volume and L1 Pro volume.
  • Ensure L1 Pro is not in AutoOff/Low-power Standby mode.
  • Test source with a different amplifier.
  • Ensure Channel Mute button is not engaged.
Standby LED is flashing red (thermal fault)
  • Turn off L1 Pro for 30 minutes.
  • Move to a cooler location.
  • Move to a location with more ventilation.
Standby LED is solid red (system fault)
  • Contact Bose customer service at worldwide.Bose.com/contact.
With nothing plugged into the L1 Pro, a light hum or buzz is heard
  • Test AC outlet for reversed or open contacts using an outlet tester.
  • If using an extension cord, plug L1 Pro directly into the outlet.
Instrument or audio source sounds distorted
  • Turn down source volume.
  • Turn down channel volume.
  • Try a different source or instrument.
Microphone is encountering feedback
  • Turn down channel volume.
  • Orient microphone away from L1 Pro.
  • Try a different microphone.
  • Adjust L1 Pro/vocalist position or distance.
  • Check vocal effects processor for feedback contribution.
Paired Bluetooth® device will not connect to the loudspeaker
  • Verify passcode if required.
  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on source device.
  • Move Bluetooth device closer to L1 Pro.
  • Turn off nearby Bluetooth devices.
  • Clear loudspeaker memory (hold Bluetooth Pair Button for 10s), delete L1 Pro from device memory, and re-pair.
  • Power cycle the L1 Pro and device, then re-pair.
Excessive hum when daisy-chaining multiple units
  • Ensure volume on daisy-chained units is not too high.
