Operating Instructions

Component Identification

Diagram shows the main unit with labeled buttons and components. Key labels include:

  • A Main Display
  • B Mode Symbol
  • C Mode Button (left)
  • D Scale Symbol
  • E Auto Mode Symbol
  • F Sub-Display
  • G Set Button (middle)
  • H Start/Stop Button (right)
  • I AC Button
  • J Battery Case Cover
  • K, L, M Contacts

Included parts: Bracket, Wire, Speed Sensor (long wire), Cadence Sensor (short wire), Screw, Sensor Bands (L/S), Wheel Magnet, Cadence Magnet, Sensor Rubber Pad (2 pcs.), Bracket Rubber Pad, Nylon Ties.

Maintenance/Precautions

  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure for the main unit when not in use.
  • Do not disassemble the main unit, sensor, or magnet.
  • Prioritize road safety; do not focus excessively on computer functions while riding.
  • Periodically check the relative position of the sensor and magnet.
  • If dirt, mud, or sand clogs buttons, wash gently with water.
  • For cleaning, use a neutral detergent on a soft cloth, then wipe dry. Avoid paint thinner, benzine, or alcohol.

Button Functions

  • Mode Button (left): Cycles through display modes. Holding for over 2 seconds displays the 24-hour clock.
  • Start/Stop Button (right): Starts/stops measurement of Trip Distance and Elapsed Time. The speed scale symbol flickers during operation. In Auto Mode, pressing this button can shift the main display between Current Speed and Cadence.
  • Set Button (middle): Used to change settings when the unit is stopped: Wheel Circumference (in 'O' mode), 24-hour Clock, or Automatic Start/Stop function (on/off in 'T', 'D', 'A' modes).
  • RESET: Press Mode and Start/Stop buttons simultaneously (except in Total Distance mode) to erase Trip Distance, Elapsed Time, Average Speed, and Maximum Speed.
  • ALL CLEAR: Pressing the AC button erases all stored data (trip distance, speed scale, wheel circumference, clock time). All displays illuminate, then 'mile/h' appears. Use only for irregular display or no display. Requires re-setup via "Main Unit Preparation".

Main Unit Preparation

Setting Speed Scale:

  1. Press AC button to clear all data. All displays illuminate.
  2. 'mile/h' is displayed. Press Start/Stop button to alternate between 'mile/h' and 'km/h'.
  3. Press Set button to confirm the desired speed scale.

Setting the Wheel Circumference:

  1. Measure: Mark a tire tread point, roll the bike one full revolution, mark the end point. Measure the distance between marks. Alternatively, use the "Setting Values Cross Reference Table".
  2. Set: The standard circumference (e.g., 2155mm for 27") will flicker. Press Set to accept or use Start/Stop (increase) and Mode (decrease) buttons to adjust the value between 10mm to 2999mm. Press Set to confirm.
  3. Reset/Change: Set unit to 'O' mode, stop with Start/Stop. Press Set to enter circumference reset mode and follow step 2.

Setting the 24-hour Clock Time:

  1. Set unit to 'O' mode (hold Mode button for >2 seconds), stop with Start/Stop.
  2. Press Set. Minute figures flicker. Use Start/Stop to advance.
  3. Press Mode. Hour figures flicker. Adjust with Start/Stop.
  4. Press Set to return seconds to zero. Setting complete. Use radio time signal for accuracy.

How to Replace the Battery:

  • When the display becomes invisible, replace the battery (CR2032).
  • Prepare a new battery before removing the old one.
  • Insert the new battery ensuring correct contact.
  • Do not press buttons during replacement. Complete within 20 seconds.
  • Do not press AC button after replacement, as total distance data is continuously measured.
  • Possible malfunctions after replacement (no display, unusual display, buttons not working) can be resolved by pressing the AC button (this will erase all data, requiring re-setup).

Measuring and Display Functions

  • Current Speed (S): Displays on the main display (upper line), updated per second. In Auto Mode, it moves to the lower line with 'S' mark if Cadence is shown on the main display. Range: 0.0(3.0) to 65.9 mile/h [27inch] ±0.3 mile/h.
  • Total Distance (Odometer) (D): Continuously measured. Range: 0.0 to 99,999 mile ±0.1 mile/h. Resets to zero at 100,000 miles.
  • Maximum Speed (M): Displays the highest speed recorded since the last reset. Range: 0.0(3.0) to 65.9 mile/h ±0.3 mile/h.
  • Average Speed (A): Displays average speed from start to current point. Range: 0.0 to 65.9 mile/h ±0.3 mile/h. Displays '.E' if exceeding 27h 46m 39s or 999.99 miles.
  • Trip Distance (D): Displays distance from start to current point. Resets to zero with Reset operation. Range: 0.00 to 999.99 mile ±0.01 mile.
  • Elapsed Time (T): Measures time from start to current point (hours, minutes, seconds). Resets to zero at 10 hours or with Reset operation. Range: 0:00'00" to 9:59'59" ±0.003%.
  • Cadence (C): Displays pedal revolutions per minute (rpm) on the sub-display. Range: 0(20) to 299 rpm ±1 rpm (below 100 rpm). Can be shifted to the main display in Auto Mode.
  • 24-hour Clock: Displays the current time. Range: 0:00' to 23:59' ±0.003%.

Auto (Automatic Start/Stop) Function

The unit automatically starts/stops measuring based on wheel movement. The 'AT' symbol appears when active.

  • Activation: Set unit to 'T', 'D', or 'A' mode. Press the Set button to toggle Auto function on/off.
  • Elapsed Time is counted only when the wheel is revolving.
  • Elapsed time may count for ~2 seconds when mounting the unit onto the bracket.
  • While Auto mode is active, pressing the Start/Stop button can switch the main display between Current Speed and Cadence.

Power Saving Function

If the unit receives no input for 60-70 minutes, it enters power saving mode, displaying only the clock. Pressing the Mode or Start/Stop button wakes it up. It also wakes automatically when a sensor signal is received.

Troubleshooting

Situations that do not indicate malfunction:

  • Current speed not appearing: Short-circuit the back contacts with metal. If speed displays, it's normal.
  • Slow display response: Likely due to low temperature (< 0°C / 32°F). Returns to normal as temperature rises.
  • No display: Lithium battery may be depleted. Replace with a new CR2032 battery.
  • Incorrect data: Execute "All Clear" operation.
  • Current speed/Cadence not appearing:
    • Check for dirt on main unit or bracket contacts; wipe clean.
    • Ensure sensor and magnet are not too far apart.
    • Verify alignment of sensor marking line and magnet center. Refer to "Sensor/Magnet Mounting" for adjustment.
    • Check for broken wire; replace Bracket & Sensor part if necessary.
  • Transmission signal loss in damp/wet conditions: Water/condensation may collect between bracket sensor and computer. Wipe contacts dry. Water repellent silicon gel (automotive/hardware store) can be applied. Avoid industrial water repellents.
  • START/STOP Button not activating/stopping: Ensure the unit is not in Auto function mode, as the button is inactive then.
