Safety Warnings and Cautions
- Warning: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, mount the fan directly from the building structure and/or an outlet box marked acceptable for fan support of 70 lbs (31.8 kg). Use the mounting screws provided with the outlet box.
- Warning: To avoid possible electrical shock, disconnect power at the circuit breaker and wall switch before installing or servicing. If breakers cannot be locked off, use a prominent warning device (tag) on the service panel.
- Warning: This fan must be installed with an isolating wall control/switch.
- Warning: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not bend blade brackets during installation, balancing, or cleaning. Do not insert foreign objects between rotating fan blades.
- Caution: All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if unfamiliar with wiring.
- Caution: Use only Hunter replacement parts.
- This equipment complies with FCC Rules Part 15 for Class B digital devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. It may generate radio frequency energy. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a technician. Choosing the Right Installation Location
Ensure your chosen location is suitable:
- Room Dimensions: Blades should be at least 30 inches from the nearest wall or obstruction. The bottom edge of the blades should be at least 7 feet from the floor.
- Outlet Box: The fan must be secured to a building structure or a fan-rated outlet box.
Ceiling Angle:
- Standard Mounting (Flat Ceiling): Use the standard downrod. A shorter downrod may be included for low-profile installation.
- Angled Mounting (Vaulted Ceiling): If the ceiling angle is greater than 34°, an Angled Mounting Kit and a longer downrod (sold separately at HunterFan.com) are required.
Hunter Pro Tip: To determine if an Angled Mounting Kit is needed, fold a guide (provided in the manual) along the dotted line, place it against the wall, and slide towards the ceiling. If the guide touches the wall but not the ceiling, an angled mounting kit is required.
Installing the Ceiling Bracket
Choose one of the following installation options:
Before starting: Turn power ⏹️ (OFF) at the circuit breaker and wall switch.
Warning: Disconnect power before installation.
- Option 1: Machine Screws Use machine screws (from outlet box) to secure the bracket to an existing fan-rated outlet box. Ensure it is securely installed and rated for 70 lbs (31.8 kg) or less.
- Option 2: Wood Screws Use included wood screws to secure the bracket to a support structure. Drill 9/64" pilot holes in the support structure first.
Hunter Pro Tip: Machine screws are typically included with your outlet box.
ANGLED MOUNTING TIP: For angled ceilings, orient the opening of the bracket towards the peak.
Installing the Downrod
Follow these steps for the pre-assembled downrod. For different lengths, refer to the guide at the end of this manual.
Warning: FAN FALL HAZARD
- Always tighten the setscrew with pliers.
- DO NOT hand-tighten the setscrew.
- Verify the setscrew is tight with pliers after each fan direction change.
- Hand-tighten the downrod (at least 4-5 full turns) until it stops.
- Trim the fan wires so that approximately 8 inches remain from the top of the downrod.
- Tighten the setscrew securely using pliers.
Hunter Pro Tip: The ground wire attached to the downrod is approximately 8 inches long.
Hanging the Fan
Slide the canopy over the downrod and wires.
Progress Check: Your fan assembly should now resemble the diagram.
Notice: To prevent fan damage, always lift the fan by the housing or downrod, NOT the canopy or wires. Place the downrod ball into the slot in the ceiling bracket.
Wiring the Fan
Follow these steps for safe and quick wiring. Consult a qualified electrician if you are uncomfortable with wiring.
You will need: 4 Wire Nuts (included in the bag).
For a Single Switch Setup:
- Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
- Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the fan.
- Cap the blue wire from the fan (not used for single switch wiring).
- Connect the three grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) from the ceiling, downrod, and hanging bracket using a wire nut.
Hunter Pro Tip: To connect wires, push bare metal ends together, slide a wire nut over them, and twist clockwise until tight. Gently pull to ensure security.
Warning: The ceiling fan must be grounded. If a ground wire is not present, STOP installation and consult a qualified electrician.
Warning: All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
For a Dual Switch Setup:
- Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
- Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the fan.
- Connect the second ungrounded (light) wire from the ceiling to the blue wire from the fan.
- Connect the three grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) from the ceiling, downrod, and hanging bracket using a wire nut.
Hunter Pro Tip: To manage extra wiring, turn wires upward and push them back through the hanger bracket into the outlet box, ensuring wire nuts remain attached.

Installing the Canopy
Fit the canopy into place, aligning the screw holes.
Insert the two canopy screws (from the hardware bag) into the aligned holes.
Hunter Pro Tip: A magnetic screwdriver aids visibility when securing the canopy.
Installing the Blades
Insert grommets (from the hardware bag) into the blade holes.
Secure each blade to a blade arm using blade screws (from the hardware bag).
Lightly attach the blade arms to the motor with blade arm screws. Then, securely tighten both screws for each arm.
Remember: Use the screws saved from removing the shipping blocks/rings for this step.
Note: Fan style may vary.
Assembling the Light
Remove the cardboard plug guard before proceeding.
Connect the fan and light fixture plugs. Ensure colored markings on connectors are aligned.
IMPORTANT: Push the connector and excess wire into the light fixture to successfully mount it.
Raise the light kit to the bottom of the fan. Align the notch on the light kit's mounting ring with the pin in the fan's mounting bracket.
Give the fixture a gentle, clockwise turn to ensure it is secure and the locking pin has engaged.

Lift the glass and attach it to the light fixture using the three thumbscrews. Tighten all three screws securely by hand.
Install the included bulb into the socket. Replace with a bulb of the same wattage if necessary.
Turn Power ▶️ (ON).
Hunter Pro Tip: To install the fan without a light kit, visit support.hunterfan.com.
Note: Fan style may vary.
Installing the Remote Control Cradle
Choose your preferred installation method:
- Option 1: Using Adhesive Strip
- Remove the cradle from its bracket.
- Peel the lining from the back of the adhesive strip on the cradle bracket.
- Press the cradle bracket firmly against the wall for 30 seconds.
- Slide the cradle onto the mounted bracket.
- Option 2: Using Screws
- Choose your installation location.
- If installing into drywall, drill two 9/64" holes using the bracket as a guide. Gently hammer included drywall anchors into the holes.
- Slide the cradle onto the mounted bracket.
Troubleshooting
Fan Doesn't Work
- Ensure the power switch is on.
