Tools Needed for Installation

Here are the tools you'll need to complete your installation:

OPTIONAL: If mounting to a support structure, you will also need these tools:

What Comes in Your Box

We recommend that you pull everything out of the box and lay it out. We have grouped the drawn components below with the hardware you'll need for those parts. The screws below are drawn to scale to make it easier to identify what piece of hardware is needed to install each component.

Hunter Pro Tip: ? Do not discard the hardware bags or mix parts from different bags. Make note of the symbol printed on each hardware bag. The symbols can be used to identify the appropriate hardware for each step.

Choosing the Right Installation Location

You probably bought this fan with a location in mind. Let's check below to make sure it is a good fit.

Check the room dimensions:

Check the outlet box:

You must be able to secure the fan to building structure or fan-rated outlet box.

Installing the Ceiling Bracket

You have two options for installation. Pick which one works best for your location. Remove any existing bracket prior to installation. Only use the provided Hunter ceiling bracket that came in your fan's box.

Do this first! ? Turn Power OFF

⚠️ WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock, before installing your fan, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breakers to the outlet box associated with the wall switch location.

Option 1: Machine Screws

Use machine screws (provided with outlet box) and washers when securing to existing ceiling fan-rated outlet box. Make sure it is securely installed and is acceptable for fan support of 31.8 kg (70 lbs) or less.

Hunter Pro Tip: ? The machine screws are the ones that came with your outlet box.

Option 2: Wood Screws

Use wood screws and washers (included) when securing to support structure with approved electrical outlet box. Drill 9/64" pilot holes in support structure to aid in securing ceiling bracket with hardware found in the hardware bag.

Installing the Top Housing

  1. Thread the wires through the top housing. Place the top housing onto the motor housing so that the holes in the top housing lineup with the holes in the motor housing and the adapter.
  2. Rest the trim ring on the top housing.
  3. Place the canopy on the top housing. Ensure all four screw holes line up with the screw holes in both the top housing and the adapter.
  4. Install the top housing screws (BAG). Install the grounding screw in the smaller screw hole. These screws can be found in the hardware bag.

Wire Preparation: The wires can be cut, but leave at least 8 inches extending from the top of the canopy.

Hanging the Fan

NOTICE: To prevent damage to fan, ALWAYS lift holding the fan housing.

  1. Raise the fan and align the slots in the canopy with the hooks on the ceiling plate. Note: To hang the fan, you must tilt the canopy to an almost vertical position so that the canopy slots sit on the ceiling plate hooks for alignment.
  2. Place the slots over the ceiling plate hooks to hang the fan.

Wiring the Fan

We know wiring is hard. Let's make it easier. Follow these steps to get your fan wired quickly and safely. Follow the route below that best matches your wall switch setup. If you are unfamiliar with wiring or uncomfortable doing it yourself, please contact a qualified electrician.

You are going to need these: 4 Wire Nuts (these are in the bag)

Have a single switch?

Hunter Pro Tip: ? Here is how to connect the wires: Push the bare metal ends of the wires together and slide a wire nut over them. Then, twist the wire nut clockwise until tight. Give it a gentle pull to make sure none of the wires are loose.

  1. Connect the grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) coming from the ceiling and ceiling plate.
  2. Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
  3. Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black and the blue wires from the fan.

⚠️ WARNING: The ceiling fan must be grounded. If the ground wire for the installation site is not present, immediately STOP installation and consult a qualified electrician.

⚠️ WARNING: All wiring must be in accordance with national and local electrical codes ANSI/NFPA 70. If you are unfamiliar with wiring or in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

Have dual switches?

  1. Connect the grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) coming from the ceiling and ceiling plate.
  2. Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan.
  3. Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the fan.
  4. Connect the second ungrounded (light) wire from the ceiling to the blue wire from the fan.

Hunter Pro Tip: ? Have extra wiring? Turn the wires upward and push them carefully back through the hanger bracket into the outlet box. Make sure that the wires are still attached to the wire nuts.

Installing the Canopy

  1. Swing the fan up to align the canopy screw holes with the mounting holes on the ceiling plate. Note: The slots in the canopy must remain engaged while swinging the canopy for alignment.
  2. Hold the canopy up with the screw holes aligned. Partially install two canopy screws (BAG) into the holes opposite the ceiling plate hooks.
  3. Partially install a canopy screw (BAG) between the ceiling plate hooks. When all the holes are properly aligned, securely tighten all three canopy screws.
  4. Using both hands, push the canopy trim ring up to the top of the canopy. The canopy trim ring will snap and lock into place. Note: Should you need to remove the trim ring, press firmly on opposite sides of the trim ring. The tabs will flex out releasing the canopy trim ring.

Installing the Blades

Put the blade washers (BAG) onto the blade screws (BAG). Then install the blade screws to secure each blade to the fan.

Repeat x5

Assembling the Light Kit

  1. Partially install two light kit assembly screws (BAG) halfway into the motor housing as shown. It does not matter which two screw holes you choose.
  2. Feed the 9-pin plug connector coming from the bottom of the motor housing through the center hole in the light kit assembly. Connect it to the plug connector found in the switch housing area of the light kit assembly. Make sure to line up the colored markings on the connectors.
  3. Align the keyhole slots in the top of the light kit assembly with the partially installed assembly screws. Wrap the keyhole slots around the screws and twist counterclockwise.
  4. Insert the third screw (BAG) and firmly tighten all the three screws.
  5. Carefully push all switch housing components into the switch housing, then install the switch housing plate using two short light kit assembly screws (BAG).

Installing the Bulbs and Glass

⚠️ FAN FALL HAZARD: Make sure all screws are tight to secure the light fixture.

  1. Install the included LED bulbs into the sockets. When necessary, replace with bulbs of same wattage.
  2. Lift the globe and align the notches in the globe with the tabs in the light kit.
  3. Attach the globe by lifting and turning clockwise one third of a full turn of the glass until it stops. NOTE: Check to ensure proper engagement.

▶️ Turn Power ON

⚠️ GLASS FALL HAZARD: To prevent SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, make sure that glass is properly secured.

Installing the Pull Chains

  1. Remove and discard the plastic connectors from the ends of the short pull chain.
  2. Feed the pull chains from the fan switch and the light switch down through the holes in the upper switch housing as shown.
  3. Attach the pull chain pendants to the light and fan pull chains.

Repeat x2

The fan pull chain controls the speed: from high to off. The light pull chain controls the light fixture: on and off.

Reversing the Fan

Ceiling fans work in two directions: downdraft (counterclockwise rotation) and updraft (clockwise rotation). To change the direction of air flow, turn the fan off and let it come to a complete stop. Unscrew the finial and remove it from the threaded rod. Remove the finial cap and unscrew the globe keeper while supporting the inner glass with your other hand. Carefully remove the inner glass. Move the reverse switch to the opposite position. Reinstall the inner glass assembly.

Troubleshooting

Fan Doesn't Work

Excessive Wobbling

Noisy Operation

Hunter Pro Tip: ? Cleaning the Fan: Use soft brushes or cloths to prevent scratching. Cleaning products may damage the finishes.
