Important Safety Information
Warnings
- ⚠️ To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or personal injury, mount the fan directly from the building structure and/or an outlet box marked acceptable for fan support of 70 lbs (31.8 kg), using the provided mounting screws.
- ⚠️ To avoid possible electrical shock, disconnect power at the circuit breaker and wall switch location before installing or servicing. If breakers cannot be locked off, use a prominent warning device.
- ⚠️ For electric shock prevention, this fan must be installed with an isolating wall control/switch.
- ⚠️ To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not bend blade brackets during installation, balancing, or cleaning. Do not insert foreign objects into rotating fan blades.

Choosing the Right Installation Location
Room Dimensions
- Ensure at least 30 inches clearance from blade tip to the nearest wall or obstruction.
- Maintain at least 7 feet clearance from the bottom edge of the blades to the floor.
Outlet Box Check
The fan must be securely mounted to a building structure or a fan-rated outlet box.
Ceiling Angle
- Standard Mounting: For flat ceilings, use the standard downrod. A shorter downrod may be included for low-profile installation.
- Angled Mounting: For angled or vaulted ceilings:
- A longer downrod may be required (sold separately at HunterFan.com).
- If the ceiling angle exceeds 34°, an Angled Mounting Kit is necessary (sold separately at HunterFan.com).
Hunter Pro Tip: To determine if an Angled Mounting Kit is needed, fold the provided guide on the dotted line and place it against the wall and ceiling. If the guide touches the wall but not the ceiling, an angled mounting kit is required.
Installing the Ceiling Bracket
Remove any existing bracket. Use only the provided Hunter ceiling bracket.
Option 1: Machine Screws
Secure the bracket to an existing fan-rated outlet box using machine screws (provided with the outlet box) and washers. Ensure it is securely installed and rated for fan support up to 70 lbs (31.8 kg).
Option 2: Wood Screws
Secure the bracket to a support structure with an approved electrical outlet box. Use wood screws and washers (included). Drill 9/64" pilot holes in the support structure to aid installation.
Angled Mounting Tip: For angled ceilings, point the bracket opening toward the peak.
Installing the Downrod
Follow these steps if using the pre-assembled downrod. For different lengths, refer to the guide at the end of this manual.
- [Step 1] Remove the pre-installed setscrew from the downrod assembly.
- [Step 2] Pass all wires through one side of the horizontal bar in the downrod assembly.
- [Step 3] Hand-tighten the downrod onto the motor housing (at least 4-5 full turns) until it stops. Trim fan wires so approximately 8 inches extend from the top of the downrod.
- [Step 4] Tighten the setscrew securely with pliers. DO NOT hand tighten.
⚠️ FAN FALL HAZARD: To prevent serious injury or death, always tighten the setscrew with pliers and check its tightness each time you change fan direction.
Hanging the Fan
Slide the canopy over the downrod and wires.
Place the downrod ball into the slot in the ceiling bracket.
[Notice] To prevent damage to the fan, always lift by holding either the fan housing or the downrod.
Progress Check: Your fan assembly should resemble the diagram.
Wiring the Fan
Follow these steps for quick and safe wiring. If you are unfamiliar with wiring, contact a qualified electrician.
Hunter Pro Tip: Connect wire ends by pushing them together and sliding a wire nut over them. Twist the wire nut clockwise until tight. Gently pull to ensure connections are secure.
- Slide the remote receiver onto the top of the bracket.
- Connect the black (ungrounded) wire from the ceiling to the black wire from the receiver.
- Connect the white (grounded) wire from the ceiling to both the white wire from the receiver and the white wire from the fan.
- Connect the yellow wire from the receiver to the black wire from the fan.
- Connect the blue wire from the receiver to the blue wire from the fan.
- Connect all grounding wires (green, green/yellow stripe, or bare copper) coming from the ceiling, downrod, and hanging bracket together.
⚠️ WARNING: All wiring must comply with national and local electrical codes (ANSI/NFPA 70). Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
Hunter Pro Tip: For extra wiring, turn wires upward and push them carefully back through the hanger bracket into the outlet box, ensuring wire nuts remain attached.
Installing the Canopy
Fit the canopy in place as shown. Lift the canopy into place so the screw holes align. Insert the two canopy screws (found in the hardware bag) and tighten.
Hunter Pro Tip: A magnetic screwdriver can improve visibility when securing the canopy.
Installing the Blades
Attach each blade to a blade iron using the blade washers and blade assembly screws (found in the hardware bag). Repeat for all four blades.
Assembling and Installing the Light Kit
Light Kit Assembly:
- Partially install two light kit assembly screws (found in the hardware bag) halfway into the motor housing.
- Feed the wire plug through the center hole of the upper switch housing. Wrap keyhole slots around the screws and twist counterclockwise.
- Insert and tighten the third light kit screw.
- Connect the plugs from the upper and lower switch housings, aligning colored markings. Lift the lower switch housing until its screw holes align with the upper housing and install the three switch housing screws.
⚠️ FAN FALL HAZARD: Ensure all screws are tight to secure the light fixture.
Installing Bulbs and Glass:
- Install the included LED bulb into the socket. Replace with a bulb of the same wattage if necessary.
- Lift the glass shade and attach it using the three thumbscrews. Tighten securely by hand. Check for proper engagement.
⚠️ GLASS FALL HAZARD: To prevent serious injury or death, ensure the glass is properly secured.
[Power ON] Turn Power ON.
Preparing the Wall Control
- Turn off power: Ensure power is OFF at the outlet box and wall switch.
- Install battery: Slide the battery door up to access the compartment. Replace with two AAA batteries.
- Wire the Wall Control:
- Connect the grounding wire from the wall control to the ground wire from the switch box using wire nuts.
- Connect "LIVE IN" from the switch box to "~VAC" on the wall control using wire nuts.
- Connect "LIVE OUT" from the switch box to "FAN" out on the wall control using wire nuts.
- Push all wires into the switch box.
- Install the Wall Control: Install the longer screws through the wall control slots into the switch box screw holes.
- Install the Wall Plate: Install the shorter screws through the wall control plate into the wall control screw holes.
- Turn on power: [Power ON] Turn Power ON.
- Remote Pairing: The remote is pre-paired. If re-pairing is needed, cycle power off and on at the wall switch within three minutes and follow pairing instructions.
- Refer to the included remote function card for detailed operation.
Reversing the Fan Direction
Ceiling fans operate in two directions: downdraft (counterclockwise) for cooling and updraft (clockwise) for circulating warm air downwards.
To change direction: Turn the fan off and let it stop completely. The reversing switch is located inside the light fixture (accessible after removing the glass). Slide the switch to the opposite position and restart the fan.
- Updraft: Clockwise rotation creates indirect airflow, useful for moving warm air down.
- Downdraft: Counterclockwise rotation creates a direct breeze for maximum cooling.
Troubleshooting
Fan Doesn't Work
- Ensure the power switch is on.
- Check the circuit breaker.
- Verify the blades spin freely.

Noisy Operation
- Ensure blades are properly installed.
- Check for cracked blades; replace if necessary.
Remote Control is Erratic
- Ensure the battery is installed correctly.
- Install a fresh battery.
