The crimping tool is a hydraulic hand press with interchangeable crimping dies for crimping sleeves of connectors.
Select the appropriate crimping die according to Table 1, page 1/4.

Safety Instructions
General Safety:
Products must be assembled and installed by electrically skilled or instructed personnel, observing all applicable safety regulations. Stäubli Electrical Connectors (Stäubli) is not liable for failure to observe these warnings.
Use only Stäubli-specified components and tools. Do not deviate from the instructions, as safety and technical data conformity cannot be guaranteed for self-assembly. Do not modify the product.
Connectors not manufactured by Stäubli, even if described as "Stäubli-compatible," do not meet requirements for safe, long-term stable electrical connections and must not be used with Stäubli elements. Stäubli is not liable for damage resulting from such use.
Work in a De-energized State
Follow the five safety rules for working on electrical installations: disconnect completely; secure against re-connection; verify absence of operating voltage; carry out earthing and short-circuiting; and provide protection against adjacent live parts.
All personnel involved must be electrically skilled, instructed, or supervised by such a person (Source: EN 50110-1:2013).
Protection against electric shock must also be checked in end-use applications.
⚠️ [Caution: Risk of Electric Shock] (IEC 60417-6042)
⚠️ [Caution] (ISO 7000-0434B)
During the crimping process, a high pressing force (130 kN) and high oil pressure (730 bar) are present. Assisting personnel should be positioned to the side, not in front of the crimping tool.
Pre-Crimping Checks:
Visually inspect the pump, crimp head, forks, and tool for defects and cleanliness. Ensure crimping dies are correctly mounted in the fork before crimping.
The pliers must only be used with crimping dies installed.
Correct vs. Wrong Usage:
✔️ [Correct!] operation shown.
❌ [Wrong!] operation shown.
Mounting the Inserts
Step 1
Position crimping die A laterally against the guide balls with slot N. Then rotate the insert into the engagement position with the spigot.
Step 2
Push into the engagement position with the spigot at the front. An audible click confirms correct engagement.
Step 3
Place crimping die B in the appropriate position, insert from the side, and overcome the resistance of the balls with light pressure. An audible click confirms correct engagement.
Cable Preparation
Step 4
Strip cable insulation over the length specified for the respective crimping sleeve. Refer to Stäubli product assembly instructions.
Cable Crimping
Step 5
Position the crimp as shown in the illustration. Maintain a distance of at least 2 mm from the edge of the crimping sleeve. The position depends on whether crimping is done once or twice.
Step 6
Insert the crimping sleeve into the pliers and close the pliers with several lever movements until the crimping dies engage and fix the sleeve. The sleeve must not deform during this step. The crimp jaws can be reset if necessary (see Step 9).
Step 7
Insert the cable with all individual wires into the crimping sleeve until it engages. The cable must be visible in the sight hole.
Step 8
Press the crimping sleeve by repeatedly closing the pliers' arms, while holding the wire in place within the sleeve. The crimping operation is complete when the pliers automatically unlock with a clicking sound.
Step 9: Resetting Crimp Jaws
The crimp jaws are retracted by turning the lever H clockwise while simultaneously closing the pliers. This operation can also be performed during crimping.
ℹ️ [Note]: Shortly before the end of the crimping operation, unlocking may no longer be possible, and the process must be completed.
Step 10: Final Inspection
Check the crimp against the maximum control dimension X. The crimp should have an even hexagonal shape without excess material.
ℹ️ [Note]: For further instructions and information, refer to the Elpress operating instructions.
