VIVREAU PURITY C Water Filter System
This manual provides comprehensive information for the VIVREAU PURITY C water filter system, designed for catering applications to ensure high-quality water. It covers installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical specifications.
Product Overview
The PURITY C filter system is designed by VIVREAU to provide consistently high water quality for various applications. It features the IntelliBypass system for a stable bypass proportion, ensuring tailored water quality based on application requirements and local water conditions. The innovative locking handle ensures simple and safe operation by securely locking the filter cartridge in the filter head and controlling water flow.
The food-grade quality of the VIVREAU PURITY C filter system has been tested and confirmed by independent institutes. Product-specific certifications can be found on the label and at www.vivreau.com/professional-filters.
Product Range and Applications
- PURITY C Quell ST / PURITY C Quell ST Advanced: Reduces carbonate hardness in drinking water, preventing scale deposits in downstream equipment. Selectively removes calcium, magnesium, and metal ions. Reduces cloudiness, organic pollutants, and substances affecting taste and smell, such as chlorine and chloramine. Ideal for coffee and espresso machines, hot and cold drink vending machines, combi ovens, and conventional ovens.
- PURITY C Finest: Enhances coffee aroma, especially for espresso, and improves coffee crema. Reduces total water hardness, preventing limescale and gypsum deposits. Selectively removes calcium, magnesium, and metal ions. Reduces cloudiness, organic impurities, and substances affecting taste and smell, such as chlorine. Primarily used in coffee and espresso machines. Not suitable for steam ovens or conventional ovens. Requires a 0% bypass setting.
- PURITY C Steam Advanced: Optimizes tap water for combi and conventional ovens. Decarbonates water, reducing scale deposits. Selectively removes calcium, magnesium, and metal ions (lead, copper). Reduces turbidity, organic impurities, chlorine, and chloramine. Bypass setting is optimized for combi and conventional ovens to match local water hardness for optimal filtration.
- PURITY C AC: Reduces cloudiness, organic pollutants, and substances affecting taste and smell, such as chlorine residues. Retains particles down to 0.5 µm. Suitable for vending machines and on-tap water coolers.
- PURITY C XtraSafe: Optimizes tap water for coffee machines, vending machines, combi ovens, and conventional ovens in areas with corrosive water and high gypsum levels. Desalinates water, reducing scale and gypsum deposits and corrosion risk. Selectively removes calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulphates, lead, and copper. Reduces turbidity and substances affecting taste and smell, such as chlorine. Recommended bypass setting for coffee and steam applications adjusts electrical conductivity for optimal filtration and machine protection.
Installation and Operation
- Installation: Requires qualified personnel. Read technical data and safety information before installation. Ensure the appliance is free of limescale. Protect from sunlight and mechanical damage. Install a shut-off valve before the inlet hose. Use a pressure reducer if water pressure exceeds 8.6 bar (125 psi). Ensure materials in contact with water are compatible with free carbon dioxide (decarbonated water).
- Filter Head Assembly: Connect inlet and outlet hoses to the filter head. Ensure correct tightening torque (max. 14 Nm). Adjust bypass setting for PURITY C 0-70% filter heads based on local carbonate hardness.
- Inserting Filter Cartridge: Remove protective cap. Note the replacement date on the cartridge. Insert the cartridge vertically into the filter head. Ensure the locking handle is open for insertion. Turn the locking handle until it engages.
- Commissioning: Open water intake and switch on the terminal equipment. Flush the filter system with at least two empty filter cartridge volumes until clear water flows without bubbles. Check for leaks.
- Changing Filter Cartridge: Replace cartridge based on indicated capacity, manufacturer's specifications, or within 12 months of commissioning. Inspect all parts carefully during replacement.
Bypass and Capacity Tables
Capacity tables are provided on pages 2-5, based on German carbonate hardness. These capacities are tested and calculated under standard conditions and may vary due to external factors.
Maintenance
Periodically check for leaks and kinks in hoses. Replace hoses every 5 years and the entire filter system every 10 years. Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents.
Troubleshooting
- No water flow: Check if the water intake is closed or the locking handle is closed.
- Low or no water flow: Check water pressure. If the issue persists, check and potentially replace the filter system and cartridge. Ensure the filter head is mounted in the correct flow direction.
- Leak: Check screwed connections and mounting according to installation instructions. If the problem persists, replace the filter system.
Technical Data
Detailed technical specifications including operating pressure, water intake temperature, flow rates, pressure loss, dimensions, and weight are provided for each PURITY C model. These tables are essential for proper system selection and operation.
Safety Information
- Use only drinking water as intake water.
- Suitable for cold water use only, within specified temperature ranges.
- Do not use microbiologically impaired or unknown quality water without disinfection.
- If boiling of tap water is officially recommended, decommission the filter system. Replace the cartridge and clean connections when the requirement ends.
- Consider potassium content for individuals with kidney disease or on dialysis.
- Avoid prolonged periods of system inactivity. Flush the system if not used for several days.
- Do not open or dismantle the filter system or cartridge during operation.
Warranty and Disposal
- Warranty: 2-year warranty, subject to adherence to manual instructions.
- Storage/Transport: Follow technical data for ambient conditions. Keep the manual with the product.
- Recycling/Disposal: Dispose of packaging and used cartridges according to local regulations. VIVREAU accepts used cartridges for recycling.
