Side-by-Side Combinations
General Information
Liebherr appliances are designed for various installation types. It is crucial to only combine appliances that are specifically designed for side-by-side configurations. This ensures proper functionality and avoids issues like condensation buildup.
Important Note: Appliances must be combined with a Side-by-Side kit to ensure proper attachment and a finished look. Some models include a heating blanket on the side opposite the handle to prevent condensation when units are placed together.
Model Combinations and Kits
The following table outlines compatible side-by-side combinations and their required Side-by-Side (SBS) kits:
Appliance Combination | Required SBS Kit |
---|---|
SF5291 and SRB5290 | SBS kit included with SF5291 |
SC5781 and SCB5790IM | SBS kit 9903 573 |
SC7541IM and SC7520 | SBS kit 9904 583 |
SC7751 and SCB7760IM | SBS kit 9903 573 |
Note on Condensation Prevention: Only specific models can be combined for side-by-side installations while maintaining original door opening. These models feature a heating blanket on the side opposite the handle to prevent condensation when units are attached.

Planning Information
Area Requirements
- Floors must support the appliance weight plus approximately 1200 pounds (544 kg) of food.
- Finished kitchen floor height must be level. Appliances may need to be shimmed or leveled to ensure air vents are not obstructed.
- Ensure no obstructions are present on rear or side walls that could impede appliance opening.
- Verify cutout dimensions are accurate.
- Confirm electrical outlet is in the correct location.
- Maximum appliance height: 87.5" (2223 mm).
Safety Regulations
- Appliances are designed for cooling, freezing, food storage, and ice making.
- Operate appliances within specified ambient temperature limits based on climate rating (SN, N, ST, T, SN-ST, SN-T).
- Do not install Liebherr appliances next to non-Liebherr refrigeration units, as this can cause condensation or damage due to differing heating systems.
Important Notes
- Allow the appliance to stand for 1 hour before connecting electricity to allow refrigerant and lubrication systems to stabilize.
- Do not operate the appliance outside the specified ambient temperature range.
- Refrigerant circuits are tested for leaks.
- Appliances comply with current safety regulations (UL, CAN/CSA standards).
Electrical Requirements & Safety
- A 15 amp or 20 amp, 110-120 VAC, grounded circuit protected by a circuit breaker or fuse is required.
- Using a dedicated circuit for each appliance is recommended to prevent overload and interruptions.
- The appliance is equipped with a three-prong (grounding) polarized plug for shock protection.
- The power plug must be easily accessible for quick disconnection in emergencies and should not be placed behind the appliance.
- Comply with National Electrical Code and local codes for receptacle installation.
WARNING:
- Electrical grounding is required.
- Do not remove the grounding prong.
- Do not use extension cords or ungrounded adapters.
- Do not use a frayed or damaged power cord.
- Do not use a power strip.
- Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, electrical shock, or death.
WARNING: The refrigerant R600a is environmentally friendly but flammable. Leaking refrigerant can ignite. Designed ventilation is required to prevent ignition.
InfinitySpring (Internal Water Dispenser) and IceMaker
- The appliance's water connection and inlet solenoid valve are suitable for water pressure up to 1 Mpa (10 bar).
- Ensure water pressure is maintained.
- Water must be supplied via a cold water pipe connected to the drinking water supply that can withstand operating pressure.
- Use a 1/4" OD copper pipe for connection; a connector is supplied.
- A water softener is recommended for hard water, and a filter is required if water contains solids.
- All water supply equipment must comply with current geographical regulations.
Safety Instructions and Warnings:
- Do not attach the water source while the appliance is connected to an electrical outlet.
- Install a shut-off valve between the hose line and the main water supply, not behind the appliance.
- Water supply connections must be made by a trained and licensed plumber.
- Water quality must comply with local drinking water regulations.
- The IceMaker is designed for household ice cube production only and must be operated with appropriate water.
- Repairs on the IceMaker should only be performed by Customer Service or trained personnel.
- The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by equipment or water lines between the solenoid valve and the water supply.
Ventilation Requirements
- For integrated appliances, ensure sufficient ventilation. Spacing fins on the back of the appliance are crucial for this.
- Larger ventilation gaps generally lead to better energy savings. A gap of 1 1/2 inch (38 mm) between the appliance rear and the wall is suggested for optimal energy consumption.
- Do not restrict airflow. A minimum cross-sectional airflow of 31 in² (200 cm²) is required for both inlet (1) and outlet (2).
- Top ventilation space can be achieved by:
- A. Directly over the appliance (2) with a gap between the unit ceiling and the cabinet.
- B. Above the cabinet and below the ceiling (3).
- C. Through a vent in a soffit (4).
- Adjust leveling legs as needed to ensure appliance levelness, which may affect airflow.
- The appliance is designed for proper airflow when installed against a wall.
Mounting Wall Spacers: Spacers mounted on the rear sides of the appliance increase depth by approx. 5/8 in (15mm) to improve energy consumption and prevent condensate water formation in enclosed niches. The appliance functions without spacers but may consume slightly more energy.
